I was wondering what month hexagram 11 is in context with
I have read it relates to the winter solstice or the beggining of spring
how does this apply if you live in southern hemisphere as its the opposite season to the Chinese.

Any ideas

You could try and follow the same idea as used in Astrology for the southern hemisphere reverse the order of the hexs. So you know that Hex 11 begins on Chinese new year either in January or February, which is wintertime in the north but summer in the south, so just move the calendar by 6 or 7 months so that Hex 11 comes up for your wintertime in June/July.

According to Carol Anthony, Hex 24 symbolizes the New Year. Hex 19 is the month after that, and Hex 11 is the month after that. So if Chinese New Year is, say, the end of January, Hex 24 covers the January-February period, Hex 19 covers the February-March period, and Hex 11 covers the March-April period. April-May is covered by Hex 34; May-June, taking things to the summer solstice, is covered by Hex 43. After that, it's Hex 1, 44, 33, 12, 20, 23, 2.

The question is whether you want to start the whole sequence at the winter solstice, which is about Dec 21, or whether you want to start it at Chinese Lunar New Year, which varies, but is often about a month after the winter solstice.

Thx

Thanks

Much appreciated so you would relate it to the season that you yourself are currently in

Well, I do the calculation from the winter solstice, so for me, Hex 11 relates basically to the astrological period covered by Pisces (Feb 21 - Mar 21). It's more interesting for me to do it this way; for instance, Hex 34 relates to the Mar 21 - Apr 21 period, which is Aries, astrologically speaking, and the goat is a symbol in each. I like that, and I think it might be significant. No biggie, though.

So we've just been through Taurus (and Hex 43), so we're entering the Gemini/Hex 1 phase, Hex 1 taking us to the Midsummer Solstice. Just the way I look at it.
