Honestly I have wondered why I don't understand clearly people's body language, facial expressions and attitudes towards me. I have been on a constant journey to sincerely check my intentions and to do the personal work included with this quest. I have found myself to be absolutely free of toxicity, not to exault myself, but yes, I do take a humble, correctable demeanor and I am always open to be criticized if I am doing or saying things that are just not socially acceptable. I believe that all humans have a differing amount of goodness in them and I am always seeking that in everyone I meet. But I also get the most confusing signals from others, like when I say hi to someone and they look at me like I have just done something utterly disgusting. I just don't get it and am perfectly willing to accept that it's my fault, that there is something terribly wrong with me.

So I asked "what can I do to bring more of who I know myself to be into the world?"

Answer 6.2>12

And I have to say, this was incredibly comforting to me. That the fighting out there in the world is too strong for me to make my way through, and to protect myself by finding a small community to keep my head low, as I naturally prefer to do, and just focus on my solitary activities.

Have you any other ways to look at this?
Very much appreciated.

I often receive this line and/or 6.4 when I'm overanalyzing some matter and debating over it in vain, while the problem fades if I leave focusing on it, or rather my argument is basically false.
The result hexagram is 12 in your case and 59 for 6.4. To me both say: leave it alone,
stop!

I asked "what can I do to bring more of who I know myself to be into the world?"

Answer 6.2 > 12
The translation I am using calls Hexagram 6 Dispute; other words I've heard describe it as Contradictory - or Contrary - Motion.

The can image the Sky, sun, moon and stars (sometimes called Heaven) - the upper trigram - move east to west across the sky; while the moving Water(s), the lower trigram - like the large rivers of China - flow from west to east. I might think of this as, 'I see things one way but the world (and others) see it differently - or ... they are - or seem to be - going in an entirely different direction than I am'.

I think of this not so much as a 'dispute', but instead that this contrary motion creates a vacuum or void where we find ourselves residing; and we often end up trying to fill this void with all sorts of not-so-nice stuff: like finding fault with ourselves (or others) or thinking that there are terrible things wrong with us.

(This reminds me of the void that sometimes happens when young men become estranged from their fathers or family - and then they become vulnerable to others, like gangs, who come in and try to fill this void.)

I can see a few helpful ideas emerging from this reading:

One is the words from Line 6.2, Failed in dispute, making homeward tracks .... No catastrophe. And the other idea I see in the moving or changing trigrams, where Water (lower trigram of 6) changes to Earth (lower of Hex. 12). Taken together ....

I get the sense that you are being advised to 'make your way back home'; which might mean making a home for yourself - a place where you can feel safe, comfortable and nurtured. From a healing or therapeutic perspective it could also include healing family (e.g. close to home) wounds.

Nurturing can also include seeking / getting help from others. And it might also include seeing - without further judging yourself - where your own fear or grief (e.g. your own 'toxicity') is helping to create - or trying to fill - this void or vacuum.

Kind regards, D

Thank you! That's actually kind of scary to think about. If I am misperceiving this, then what else am I misperceiving? And if I just stop and leave it alone, I can't help but wonder how I could ever have anything meaningful in life, without regard or correct perception. I'm not quite ready to put the blinders on, though I sincerely thank you for your input.
