Not long ago I declined to contribute to a biography of my ex-wife, now deceased. She divorced me some forty years ago, after a short marriage. She later wrote a series of novels in which suspected unfaithfulness is a key theme.

The biography is now with a publisher, and I'm faced with a problem: as our marriage will have been retailed by informants who knew us well but not intimately, it's possible that the book contains assumptions or implications which are in fact untrue.

I've no wish to litigate. Asking the question: "what would be the outcome of taking no action?" I obtained hexagram 6 3:6 and 5:9, resolving to hexagram 50.

First mulling of the lines leads me to the idea that I should contact the publishers, let them know my concerns and that I want the matter, if there is one, resolved by negotiation.

But I'd welcome any reflections: I'm not that experienced in actually using the Changes, though I've read fairly widely.

Its a little bit easier to read if you use the following convention for hex number and lines:

6.3.5 > 50

"what would be the outcome of taking no action?"

well hex 6 describes how you are in realtion to this publication, its conflicting for you and filling you with inner conflict too.

Somehow its seems to me line 6 could be some kind of offer of money but that it wouldn't suffice or spread far, and at worst you'd be 'stripped' of it.

but line 3 I think is saying that considering taking the path of doing nothing is the way you would usually approach situation like these, its your inbuilt virtue or a way of being virtuous that you think you should be beholding, ought to be. Maybe thats not necessary or appropriate here, maybe you are supposed to contend. For me this line has a feel of contention of its own, esp. with 44 on its relating side.

But line six cannot be ignored.

you could go this way, line 3 is in the end auspicious, line 6 well i guess if you dont really want anything out of this maybe leaving it alone is for the best. Line 3 is basically your question too, taking no action would be following the kings affairs, it would stress you out a bit but would be good in the end.

mix your contention in the pot, change your attitude, or figure out the deeper thing motivating you the principal which will clearly how you want to act /react in this senario.

And then go get 50 on this issue. Set the situation straight, to seal your fate.

I can see why its upsetting, stories influence people and there are three sides to them all, yours mine and the truth.

well hope that offered a few more interpretative options for you.

I think that your intuition is correct when you mulled the lines. I get the feeling the tables will turn in your favor. I would call the publisher's & let them know your concern, but perhaps call an attorney first. WO
