Hi,
I got my tooth pulled 2 days ago, since then my face is swollen and now it is hurting more than before. I am wondering if it is getting infected, maybe a piece of tooth is still left inside??
I have to go to work today but I was wondering if I should go to the emergency dentistry instead to let them check it. I don't have dental health benefit so it would cost me lots of money.

I asked the I ching: What should I do about my tooth?
Got 29 2.5. 2
I think it is telling me not to worry, the pain will go away, no need to go to the doctor.

What do you think? Thank you for all the help,

Manci

Its suprising how often 29 comes up with teeth related problems - i guess its cavities, pits and so on lol. It sounds like an infection that could just be dealt with by some antibiotics. Is it not possible just to call the dentist on the phone, explain and he will advise ? He may want to see you but i think its not uncommon to get infections after dental surgery. Anyway your answer does seem to imply your body is coping with the infection, 29.5 sounds hopeful as if the infection reaches a pitch and then settles as your body fights it. I see hex 2 here as your body and its coping mechanisms.

I guess you are using salt water mouthwash meantime ?- thats really good for mouth infections. Of course if you are in great pain you will have to go to emergency but if you can cope i think you could just call your regular dentist after the weekend - not sure how it works where you are.

Also its quite usual to get swelling and pain after dental work in my experience even if there is no infection - its just your body reacting to the trauma. When I had my wisdom teeth removed my face swelled up huge a day after the operation, there was no infection - but one is susceptible to infection at this time so use salt water.

Anyway I feel this reading says you are coping and you may get over this reaction on your own but take care of it.

Ouch! Yes, the advice seems to be saying hang in there, you're in a pit of pain but give it some time you should be ok.

I remember when I had my wisdom teeth out and I never felt pain like it. I was in absolute agony for over a week after. Even with drugs it made no difference, (though god knows what it would have been like without some heavy duty Codine). I had very long roots apparently and they didn't want to come out. It took them an hour longer than it should have done. You may be the same. Sometimes teeth roots can be very difficult to shift.

That said, if it begins to get worse and the swelling doesn't go down in a day or two, I'd still get it checked.

Take care,

Topal

Oh and another thing I remember getting 29.2 when i had pain after a filling that persisted some time - i had it checked and all was okay its just the dentist said teeth can take a long time to settle down - so i think 29.2 here can be the repetetion of the trouble but not necessarily mean something is wrong, more like something one has to bear with and wait out.

Don't worry! Just wait 2 more days. I think it will get better.
When I got my wisdom tooth out my face was so swollen that I hardly could open my mouth. My mistake was that I slept on a soft and warm cushion. It is better to sleep without a cushion or at least on a very hard one because warmth intensifies the swelling.
Put some ice on your face and don't worry because worrying is the worst thing for healing!

Hi Trojan and Topal,

Thank you for your great insights. I feel a bit better already so I try to hold on til tomorrow and if it still hurts I will call my doctor for a checkup. Tooth aches can be really awful and my face looks a little deformed because of the swelling. Uhh. Thank you for the great idea, I will use salt water for the infection to go down. :)
Thank you so much for your kind answers and your immidiate responses. Take care,

Thank you Achillea! Exactly, I hardly can open my mouth and it's really hard to chew. The ice does really feel good on the skin,so I am using that for the swelling. Thank you for your response!

Yep. its telling you hold a while longer, soon the swelling will go down, so no need to see an emergency dentist, just take some paracetamols or aspirins to reduce the pain and swelling.

Hex 2 is a passive hex suggesting that in doing nothing, not going to a dentist, you will have success. It will clear up on its own.
