Well, it seems as though once a month I ask the iChing to consult me on a relationship I've been in for several months. There are many similar themes to this relationship, which always strikes me as interesting - parallels on so many levels. ;)

I asked with help on who I should proceed for my own personal growth and received Hex 42 changing into Hex 3. When I asked for insight into how my partner is feeling, I also drew Hex 3, with no changing lines. Does this mean we are both at the same place? I am struggling in the relationship a bit right now as a painful divorce and an even more painful separation from a man I was involved with immediately after, kept my heart hidden away from anyone for nearly 2.5 years.

With this new gentleman, I knew I was choosing by being with him, although I find communication at a standstill despite it still being relatively early in the relationship, which I think we are both adjusting to. He was in a destructive marriage and is now in the process of a divorce. So I'm trying to understand the Hex 3 here and what it means for me, and for us. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I am committed to seeing this through and maybe I need to keep envisioning the bigger picture in that I have everything to gain regardless of the outcome. :duh:

I keep thinking I'm in charge of the wave I'm riding and the emotion I attach to it. Sometimes though, that's easier said that done! I did read that Hex 3 refers to water and i'm a very strong Scorpio (with a stellium in Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury and Venus) - needless to say, I am overflowing with emotional depth that can sometimes engulf others.

The best thing probably for us both is to have a conversation about what each of us is looking for, although I am trying to be still like water and to take a step back. I feel a bit of a loss right now and a bit of an imbalance. Not sure if the 3 is reflecting that for each of us? :brickwall:

Three can be a good hexagram as it is a true, new beginning. At the same time, it has all the great problems that are there in the beginning of anything. For love,it means that there are many obstacles and troubles, and you need to be very patient and faithful. As for marriage, three is very difficult for marriages. However, there is much hope for remarriages. So, for the man, the three may be a very good thing over the long haul, but it makes the whole love affair very difficult. It requires a tremendous determination and forbearance to succeed.

Hmm ... there are definitely some obstacles on his side and they are ones that won't be quickly resolved. I asked about the relationship potential received Hex 17 - Following, unchanging. As for me, getting involved with him was a huge step and I have committed myself to seeing the relationship through to the end, whenever that may be. I an trying to be patient with everything as he has asked me to be, but I'm never sure what he's really thinking. There are complexities, for sure, for him, and any sort of serious relationship would be a remarriage for us both, but that is so far into the future I can't even imagine getting to that point!

The relationship is relatively new, but he is also getting out of a 21 year marriage and I certianly don't want to box him into anything that committed right now. I try to take things one day at a time, but it's been a bit of a roller coaster for me. I've decided to take this week and regroup myself and to take a step back from him a bit - more for my own sense of sanity and purpose. I am constantly making adjustments in the relationship and several people have told me to use it as my own transition, but when you like someone, you don't want to think about any relationship as a temporary fix. LOL

I found it interesting we both received the Hex 3. Does that mean I have obstacles as well or it's just the relationship? And will those obstacles always be thre? Of course, the ones I'm facing with him now will eventually be resolved, I"m just not sure when.

Well THAT certainly adds an interesting element to it all!

You know, I think long story short, relationships in general are whatever we make of them. I've had some relationships start out great and end in utter disrepair so maybe one that starts out with a few challenges with find its way back to the yellow brick road.

Thanks again for your kindness and generosity of spirit.

I've been plugging along pretty well lately, but a reading I did last week has me stumped. After I cast Hex 17 in regard to my relationship potential, I asked the iChing what will lead up to that potential. I received one hex (that I can't remember) with changing lines leading to Hex 51: Shock. I'm not sure what the Shock represents here. Any insights would be greatly appreciated as I am truly stumped.

The thunders here mean excitement, inspiration, stir, shock, and all forms of arousing. So, what is happening is that you are becoming aroused in a positive way, i.e., aroused to overcome problems and to fulfill ambitions. 51 for love means that there are rough moments, but success will come in the end. As for marriage, first marriages are not so good, but remarriages are propitious. One must always keep in mind that marriage and love are two different things in the Yijing.
