HI guys,

Two years ago I posted on this forum as I had a great dilema. I was very unhappy with work and afraid to take action. Then I got the wanderer and posted on this website I got a great post back with a story about a girl who had many trials and when it seem that things couldnt get any worse it did. But it had a very happy ending, as all of these experiences gave skill and knowledge and there was success in the end.

I left that job and I dont regret it overall as I really got my life back and had to deal with some issues that I hadnt time for. Its been tough and a bit of a roller coaster ride but found that its added experience. I had a couple of job opportunities recently, which depending on the way I look at it I either think I blew it or I did the right thing and something else will come along.

So now feeling flat and there is nothing currently on the horizon. I am thinking that maybe I am being unrealistic and should have settled or opened my mind to one of these jobs although at the time I felt quite certain about it. One job was similar to the one I was so unhappy in and the other wasnt really practical to get to. So I asked the I ching what did I need to Know? The answer came back as 43 Kuai changing line in the beginning and the relating hexagram was 28 Tao Kuo.

Any assistance/thoughts are most welcomed.

Thanks for your time.

Thanks Willowfox for your reply. I take it that the changing line in 1 is saying the jobs would be a mistake and my action was correct rather than I made the mistake of not taking the jobs.

Nine at the beginning means:
Mighty in the forward-striding toes.
When one goes and is not equal to the task,
One makes a mistake.

Interestingly enough I noticed a few people who were asking about jobs got 28 in some shape and form. I think 28 means I will have success but does taking action mean to take the next job I am offered or be specifically focused on the job I want, or to be more focused on my skills and personal development? I think its the latter but external pressures have me asking myself am I being realistic?

THE JUDGMENT

PREPONDERANCE OF THE GREAT.
The ridgepole sags to the breaking point.
It furthers one to have somewhere to go.
Success.

Thanks for your help.

Regards

Yes, that is what I meant.

Well, if you know me you know I think a great deal can be understood when we consider the sequence and the advice of the Images. 28. is Preponderance of the Great and advises us that the superior man is undaunted even if he must renounce the world. What on earth does that mean? Well, consider where the Superior Man is coming from. Looking back at 24. it appears that recently he went through a period where he needed to shut down and completely rethink his responcibilities and approach to life. Upon reconsideration he comes to realize he is 25. Innocent of any wrong doing, but perhaps he just doesn't know enough, doesn't have all the answers. So there's a willingness to 26. Study and 27. Discuss what all the wise books and wise sages have to contribute. Enevitably, eventually the moment arrives when the seeker realizes 28. He can't hold anymore words of wisdom. Nothing read or said will have any meaning for him until he gets out and 29. Puts his theories to real life tests, Practices what he preaches.

With this thought in mind, that one can only absorb so much in a protected classroom and that eventually one must say, "I'm going to try it my way", I think 28. in this instance is advising you you do NOT need more isolated training at this time or even the next job that is offered to you. Rather you should focus on what you really want. Now or never.
