Ack... that would be my fault for using 'find and replace' too liberally. But I think I can see what I've done and undo it...

OK, try it now.

Anemos, we had a bit of a saga with Kitchen and Change Circle memberships getting tied up together. I wound up removing some people from the Kitchen to avoid giving them CC access too by mistake. The Kitchen's going to be empty for the foreseeable future anyway, so you're not missing anything there! (I think in future rather than setting up a separate place to get feedback, I'll just create a subforum of Reading Circle.)

The font's weird, isn't it? Looks like we got transposed to Arial or some such instead of our trusty old Trebuchet MS. Hmph. I'll see if I can change that back some time. (This will involve fiddling with stylesheets, and that can have some very odd results. You have been warned.)

thanks Hilary . Seems the default font its that arial -like . Yet the font list is handy and we can go against the Software's will and use the ole good font.

Still not working... I've tried restarting the browser just in case. Still the same message.

True. We can even be really venturesome and write in black instead of the default grey. I'm not a great fan of grey text... I'm sure it's very modern and refined, but it's not as easy to see.

A quick use of Chrome's lovely 'inspect element' feature seems to say that this is set in a css file my skin designer left me with instructions not to touch. Ah well...

I don't understand the image uploady thing, sorry. If you can give me a blow-by-blow description of what happens, which screen you're on, which buttons you click, what message you get, the works, I will forward it to Vbulletin support and see what happens. (Not necessarily very much, I'm afraid, but I can try.)

My error on mentioning the link button.

Ok, just now I tried uploading two, one from a URL and one from my computer.

testing - from URL: error, upload failed due to temporary file. These are public domain jpg images I'm trying to upload, using traditional insert image button.

testing - from computer: doesn't function, as per usual.

OK, that sounds like the kind of thing I can post to a support ticket. In case they ask - is this in quickreply or the 'advanced' editor, or doesn't it make any difference?

I've found how to change the fonts, by the way. There are dozens of settings, though, so it may take a while to get them all.

It's good now that latest blog entry in CC is at bottom of the page in 'what's going on'

This last time was quick reply, which still has the add image button. I'll try advanced now from URL.

Ah, I un-clicked the little box. Maybe that's what PG was referring to.

So it's quickreply that has image issues?

Meanwhile I've had a go at fonts and successfully turned most of it into Trebuchet. What's driving me spare is the WikiWing font size - I have used 'inspect element', I have viewed source, I have trawled through every available setting in the admincp, and can I make it a decent size? Can I thump...

I think it was unchecking that "Retrieve remote file and reference locally" box. Lemme try again using quick reply:

So is it OK?

If not... down at the very bottom of the options page, there's something about 'enhanced attachment uploading' that I don't think was there before. If it doesn't work, they suggest you unenhance it again. Any use?

Yes, so long as that box is unchecked (though I don't understand it technically), which is easy enough, in either quick reply or advanced.

Sorry about that, Bert. You're still on the old monthly subscription for CC, and I forgot to add that product to the list with access. It should work now - though you may need to log out, clear cache, perform a ritual dance, that kind of thing...

I just tried to add an image with That Box checked, and got the most delightful long error message. (Probably it fails in different ways in different browsers.) I've asked Vbulletin about it.

So now I really ought to be contacting web host to pass on Vbulletin's reply, but instead I'm sitting here watching a deer's muddy-puddle-dance.

I think this is progress, don't you?

Getting the clickable smilies back under the editor is a work in progress. So far 10 of them are visible in the 'advanced' editor. I'm looking for help to a) get rid of the big gap below them and b) get a second row.

Aha. Got it!

(Must go looking for the smilies overwritten in the upgrade sometime... poor things...)

If you click your name above any of your posts, one of the options that comes up is 'view forum posts'. That's the easiest way. For a more detailed search, go all the way to the top of the page, click 'search' and then 'forum search' - lots of choices there.

I've just noticed what the smiliebox looks like in 'edit signature' and Wikiwing editing.

I'm looking for ways to solve this one. If you are fluent in CSS and feeling generous, do get in touch...

hi Hilary - congrats on the new set up: it feels smooth and new yet still familiar (and I'm loving the 'auto-saved' function!! :D)

Just a couple of things here - not sure if it's mentioned before: the clickable smilies under the editor won't work for me (I work in Safari/Mac os) and that when I log out from the forums I'm redirected into your welcome page, instead of where I was when I hit 'log out'

Neither of them is a big hustle really, just thought I'd mention them

Smilies-wise, I think you may just have to use the menu above the editor instead, sorry.

Logout - hm - for technical reasons I won't bore you with unless you're really interested*, we may have a choice between either having a redirect back to the page you were on, or having a reliable log out that doesn't leave you mysteriously still logged in. Previously we had unreliable logout with redirect, this time we have reliable logout... don't know if we can get the redirect as well, but I'll ask around. If odd things happen when you log out for a while, that would be why.

By the way, I solved the 'errant smilieboxes munging layouts' thing, with help from David.

* If you are really interested, get help.
