RE Tom's post: I used to get this on the old software too occasionally, usually when it seemed to freeze and I clicked post again.

Logout - hm - for technical reasons I won't bore you with unless you're really interested*, we may have a choice between either having a redirect back to the page you were on, or having a reliable log out that doesn't leave you mysteriously still logged in. Previously we had unreliable logout with redirect, this time we have reliable logout... don't know if we can get the redirect as well, but I'll ask around. If odd things happen when you log out for a while, that would be why.

Glad to hear the sign in/out issue has been resolved. I can now take myself off invisible.

editor smilies back in order and - as I said - the log out & back to welcome page is no big deal (especially knowing it makes logging out more secure)

cheers!

In posting to

http://www.onlineclarity.co.uk/friends/showthread.php?16728-hx-3-and-re-potting&p=173301#post173301

I was warned that I was posting a duplicate, but there is no duplicate in the thread. I think the warning is a tiny innocuous bug that can be safely ignored.

RE Tom's post: I used to get this on the old software too occasionally, usually when it seemed to freeze and I clicked post again.
I don't suppose it was actually doing what it was supposed to do and preventing what would otherwise have been a duplicate post?

(It never seemed to manage that for me - every now and again Chrome would go through a phase of posting everything twice. It would be nice if that stopped.)

Glad to hear the sign in/out issue has been resolved. I can now take myself off invisible.
You mean, you didn't want to appear as if you were here when you weren't?

Smilies clickable? hooray. Maybe it just went weird while I was slaying the template-editing demon.

OK... I won't make it a huge priority to get the 'log out and return to page you were viewing' thing happening - especially since fiddling with something like that would inevitably mean an interlude with things broken. I can't actually remember why I thought it was so useful in the first place... anyone...?

But, now it still appears to keep me logged on even when I close the window or the browser, which was the original glitch. Now I'm green (heh), will close out browser, then return to see if I'm still green and logged in.

*sound of crickets*

Still logged in.

I just remembered, during the first few days you fired this update up, I had changed a setting on my browser, which logged me off because I had it set for no browser history. Once I clicked remember history, the original grey/green issue returned. So it appears there's a choice to always appear logged in or on invis.

I'm going to fiddle about a bit as 'tester2' and see what I get...

OK, so it's behaving correctly for tester2. I logged in as her (her?) in a separate browser, posted, and got the green dot over in this browser where I'm still logged in as myself. Then logged out as tester2 in browser 2, came back to browser 1 and refreshed this page, see she has lost her green dot.

And in other-browser, which might remember tester2's presence after she logged out, she's also offline now.

So I can't reproduce what it's doing for you, sorry. Maybe one of our many resident ghosts is to blame.

You don't look online to me at present, but then maybe you've turned invisible again?

Thank you, Hilary, for going so far out of your way for this.

The solution is for me to simply remember to manually log out before leaving, and log in when posting.

I was thinking, there's another V bulletin forum I frequent, and I'm always logged in there too.

I do recall forums in the past where they'd log you out when closing the forum page. Maybe it was from my own settings, delete cookies and such.

Anyway, thanks again. I'm good with the changes. I like the softer colors, and so far it works faster on my hamster powered ancient computer.

Not sure if this has come up yet, but looking through the archives, it looks like punctuation is not rendering properly so now we get weird code stuck inbetween letters i.e.
LiSe & # 39 ; s
instead of Lise's, etc. (I've put the spaces in to show what comes up - if you take the spaces out, the & # 39 ; string is rendered as an apostrophe). This will be something on the server-side I suspect, so you may have to submit a ticket.

I think you'll find that's only on very old threads. It was actually like that before this upgrade - those are the threads that were imported from Discus to Vbulletin - almost in one piece.

Can you provide links to a bunch of threads? If they're recent ones, then it's new.

It should be exactly where it was - start a new thread, scroll down below the editor box through the 'additional options', and there it is towards the bottom. I can't think why that wouldn't be there for you... isn't it?

OK this is not a bug, just me being dim witted, but I was wondering - what was the best way to see quickly if anyone has commented on your posts or threads?

ignore, found it! (Membership panel if anyone else is wondering)

When I look at older posts, I see al these numbers appearing in the text. I'll post a screenshot. Image1.jpg

I see I'm not the first one to report this :)
I don't think I saw it that often in threads before the upgrade.

It's amazing how much software I install needs one of those.

I'm hoping this is an example of... you know, that phenomenon Brad probably knows the technical name for, of seeing more of something you're primed to notice. It's certainly something that first appeared when posts were migrated from the old Discusware software to Vbulletin, donkeys' years ago. It might have got worse since the upgrade... but there's not a lot I could do about it even if it had.

Does anyone else find that when you include something in italics, return to normal and keep typing, then hit backspace to delete a typo as you go, the cursor jumps back to the word in italics so you start deleting that? Or is that a special just for me?

Hello all!
Cool new look and interface!

I came here to update my account/profile data with a new email address, and when I clicked on the Members tab I saw three unchecked check boxes under the Newsletter Subscriptions heading.

Well, actually it's no big deal, I only wonder if I've been accidentally unsubscribed while migrating data, or maybe the problem is in the check boxes showing the wrong value...?
Ok, let's see...

 Well... having checked all of the three check boxes, I logged out, then logged in again, and now only one of them is checked, the one for Clarity Friends' Notes... which is, by the way, the only newsletter I remember receiving...

Um... not completely sure what would have happened there, but in general just checking the boxes doesn't subscribe you to the lists by itself - you will also get a confirmation email and need to click the link in that. Also, if one of the lists was actually the free course and you've already taken it, I'm not sure whether it will send it out to you again.

Somewhere on my to-do list: move all the lists from Aweber (external provider) to Arpreach (locally installed script) so I have more control over things, and checking the box will be enough to subscribe you.

After the update I stopped receiving emails for mastermind forum updates. Haven't had any newsletters at all since then, maybe there haven't been any, but usually some email arrives when there is new Blog post. Not bothered about mm forum updates....but I think Buzzaro is correct that probably some of these automatic newletter/update emails were dropped in the change over. So if people want to keep getting newletters/updates it seems they will have to re subscibe ? Of course no one knows if they have missed one anyway....so in not knowing will not know to re subscribe again.

BTW the only way i can have paragraphs or spacing at all is to continually change the font. The edit box still does an annoying wrap around with the end of the sentence at the beginning of the next. I have lived so far contendedly enough with these, it doesn't bother me....it's one of Clarity's quirks like the 1970's join dates and often being told you have posted a duplicate. I thought i'd mention it again for information purposes.....and to explain the reason I keep switching to odd fonts all the time...like this one.

Hi Hilary, hi Trojan! :)

As a matter of fact, I have received the confirmation email for the Friends' Notes list, and right now I've also clicked on the link, so I'm confident I'm subscribed again.

Then, if the next Friends' Notes I receive will be #70 I won't have missed anything...

But that's the only email I received; the other two lists are Guide to Change Circle and Change Circle updates... their boxes always return unchecked, and no confirmation is sent...

P.S: now I've also received the "Clarity Friends' Notes: guide to the Friends' Area" welcome message!
Sigh... does it feel like 24...

Um, according to my Membership/My Profile listing, weiwuwei and I are the same person..I've got 5 posts by weiwuwei at the top of the list and the rest are all from me.. Bit odd, that.

I don't think it's confused about who you are - if you use the forum search to look for your posts, it won't show anyone else's - it's just that what it displays by default on profiles has changed. If you look under where it says 'Precision Grace's activity' there are a bunch of mini-tabs: all, precision grace, friends... etc. I think 'all' shows the sum of all the other tabs: posts by your friends, by you, from any threads you've subscribed to et al. If you want just your own, click the tab with your name on.

ah thanks, I didn't realise it concatenated friends' posts. I feel so lonely now, being the only one of me..
