Hello all

There is a certain country I would like to live and work in although employment there does not seem easy mostly due to language barriers. So I recently asked what vocation could I do in that country?

13.6 > 49

Any thoughts?

Nine at the top means:
Fellowship with men in the meadow.
No remorse.

There is no language barrier. You can learn their language. The net makes it easy, and they will be surprised and grateful because in many countries English speakers are not expected to know the language. Forty years ago I was walking down a street in Keren, Eritrea, and passed a beautifully arranged goldsmith's shop. Above the door was written in Arabic "The shop of Salih the goldsmith." I was pleased with myself for remembering the Arabic word for goldsmith. Many Yemini Arabs live in Eritrea. The design of the shop was east African modernistic, and the obvious proprietor, in western dress, was propped in the doorway. I said in Arabic, "This is the goldsmith's shop, and you are Salih." He fell out of the door into the street and looking up at me asked in Arabic, "How do you know that I am Salih? How do you know that I am a goldsmith?" He no more expected me, an obviously white alien, to speak to him in his language than he would expect a passing dog to speak. I shook his raised hand and said in Arabic, "Pleased to meet you, Salih" and continued down the street. I now regret not buying something from him, but most of what he had for sale were nose rings for women made of gold, popular with women in the area. The point of this story is, Learn the language now. They will be surprised and appreciative, and it will greatly aid your employment prospects.

To me, hexagram 13 suggests a security vocation, and line 6 suggests its extreme, for example, internet security, very important for banks and internet businesses. I do not know your abilities, but on the basis of the casting, I would recommend security work of some sort.

Thanks Pocossin, and for your anecdote. I guess you derive the security vocation from 13 associated with creating harmony for people? But why security rather than the more obvious social work or something? BTW I know very little about computers but I have been training in a martial art for the past couple of years. It has become a bit of a passion of mine although don't know if I'm confident enough yet with it! Yes I should start learning the language...

I subsequently asked a similar question:
'What vocation would suit me in this country?' 51 unchanging

Not quite sure how to interpret that, perhaps it will be a surprise..?

More like making the bad guys (the folks of hexagram 12) behave. I think of 13 as suppression of disorder by a local militia. Read "Fellowship with Men" as calling out the posse. Note suggestions of combat in lines 3 and 4. I believe the visual object represented by 13 to be an ax with cutting edge upward, the dagger-ax being a main weapon of King Wen's time. Security is a broad area and includes anyone from nightwatchman to accountant or quality controller -- people who resist disorder.

Medium, psychic, art critic -- a person who perceives the spirit of things. Do you have any experience in appraising the marketability of products?

Ok thanks for that. I think I am quite good at perceiving things. I don't have any work experience of appraising the marketability of products though - only of teaching and doing research.

Cheers.

H13.6 > H49
A Relationship of Convenience, (not a deep relationship), during times of Radical Change. Perhaps you need to learn just enough of that language to facilitate the ability to have the relationship.

Because H49 is here in that position, I must ask you whether you are thinking about Radical Change, a changing of your skin, to be someone very different...?

I would take this to mean that you can't know this in advance. That you must experience the Shock, perhaps related to the Radical Change of H49, a Change of Skin. In the past, when Yi gave me H51 about something and I asked more questions, wanting to understand more about the coming Shock, I got the impression that Yi was telling me it would not be a Shock if I knew about it in advance.

Thanks all for the suggestions, some of which I had never considered before and so has opened my mind a bit.

Re- Tiger's question if I am thinking about radical change - I would say yes, it would be a big move and I think I would have to become very independent to see if through.

Cheers
