Just when I think I am starting to understand the Yi... I ask questions that are "heavy" for me and I forget how to read...
Here is the question: What is my true vocation? I received 45.5.6 > 35
I am thinking that I already know what this is. In fact, I have just recently recognized it for what it is. But I am still very unsure.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you :)

A question like this is very broad in scope, and would likely require greater diligence than one reading of the I Ching. But that being said, in forty five line five,we see an indication where someone in a leading position brings people together. Hexagram thirty five would indicate a situation in which light is brought to other people. As such, the I Ching may be hinting at some kind of therapy program or counselling career where you can help integrate people and give them insight into their own character.

That is just one possibility, the scope of the question is very broad.

Thanks Gene,
I find your responses very grounding :) I wanted to keep the question as broad as possible but I think I just managed to confuse myself. Very interesting take- I used to want to be a therapist until I started working in that environment. Now that is the furtherest thing from my mind:D
However I can see this as relating something else- as I have said in previous posts- I am an artist. Much of my subject matter has been about things that we, as a culture (midwestern american), are not comfortable talking about or looking at. I can see bringing the "shadow" so to speak into the light and gently showing people their experinces this way- I am not a very patient person when it comes to other peoples' issues but I am good with grappling with the hidden parts of ourselves.

The king approaches his temple.
It furthers one to see the great man.

You have entered the outer gates of your art but aren't inside yet and need a mentor.

45.5 It will be a long uphill climb. 45.6 The dramatic. Maybe a set designer. You are apparently at a creative high now. Sustaining it won't be easy. Nevertheless, some do and bring light into the darkness.

Sometimes with hex 45 there is a group that has a shared purpose, one for which you must sacrifice to some degree or extent. Line 45.5 indicates, I think, that you would be the leader of this group. If you are not the leader, you must seek for such a leader. Art is usually done in isolation, and so there is more involved here than meets the eye. That makes Pocossin's post of a set designer so interesting, because the group would be in a theater. In any case, hex 45 is not good for working alone.

:brickwall: arrggghhh!!!! (the mentor part) not really sure where to look for this...
I am ok with the battle- it has been like that for a long time- I have a lot of ideas right now hard to get them all down. :) Set designer is interesting- I am not that into theater but I think I would have a good time with this... I think I need to ask more questions.

Thank you for your interpretation- I think I need to sit with this for awhile before I respond. Lots to chew on. :)

Thank you all.

Having sat with this a bit- here is what I am thinking... I spent a lot of time after art school being really I mean REALLY angry about how everything ended. I feel like I needed A LOT of alone time to just sit a lick my wounds about it all. Greive it scream about it -a bit of 45.6. I am just coming out of that and it has not been easy. I pretty much let go completely my desire to work with art and be an artist. In the past few months I feel like I am being called again to do this just not in the same manner I was doing it before. I worked on my own (lots of independent study classes). I feel like I could do something as part of a group or as part of a larger project. I will remain open here...
Before I wanted to make a living at being an artist- try to support myself with it. This has changed for me as well. I am more realistic about it now- I think. I would still like to be able to live from my work but I am now seeing that as a bonus not as a requirement. I think vocation to me means something you "have" to do not necessarly make money at it. Thank you everyone for your responses. It has been VERY helpful...

Just an update here. I was recently hired for Programming and Events Coordinator at my local library. Full of creativity, lots of "set designing" so to speak. I feel as if I have been waiting my whole life for this position. But I defiantly did not see it coming especially back in 2012. Thank you all for your help with this.
I absolutely love this community.
