okay ..here goes
my name is megabooby and i've been doing i ching for awhile now and it is very interesting to me.
i've never really been to a forum full of people who are obviously really into it. just to get it out of the way, i'd like to post this devil's advocate thread to all the hardcore superior men/women out there...don't take none of this personal..it's just an experiment

are you people nuts? do you find yourselves overanalyzing every detail of your lives? do you feel that the i ching rules your lives in an unhealthy way? are you trying to escape reality or live in the past, or use the oracle to hold on to something you need to let go? are you on drugs? are you an utter failure in the world? are you way too influenced by what other people say (or write)? do you ask about 300 questions a day? do you ask the i ching if it's a favorable time to go to the bathroom? how many books have you worn out? when you talk to people, do they look at you like you're from neptune? are you homeless?

anyways...

most of these questions i'd have to answer 'yes' to ha ha

looking forward to your responses

are you people nuts??

though I have wondered about this myself, i can only speak for myself and i fancy myself of the pistachio and cashew variety -expensive taste and very much desired

do you find yourselves overanalyzing every detail of your lives??

to get the best results, there is no such thing as overanalysis, just thoroughness, i think

do you feel that the i ching rules your lives in an unhealthy way?

rule, no - reliable, yes, and that's healthy, no ??

are you trying to escape reality or live in the past, or use the oracle to hold on to something you need to let go??

who's reality are we talking about?
and how does one hold onto the past or the old
while holding firmly to i ching with both hands?
something's gotta give

are you on drugs?

how does this matter exactly when the effects are vastly different, depending on the blend.

are you an utter failure in the world??

how can i even consider failure if i haven't finished the program yet?

are you way too influenced by what other people say (or write)?

only when i can't find a good drug score

do you ask about 300 questions a day??

probably, seems you're close to fulfilling your quota for the day with this post though

do you ask the i ching if it's a favorable time to go to the bathroom?

never thought of it but since you asked, i cast.. and got 60/16 (didn't feel a natural urge to go and the i ching valided it, i think...)

how many books have you worn out?

i've worn out quite a few, but they get plenty of rest and sunshine in-between the marathons and love-fests

when you talk to people, do they look at you like you're from neptune?

most people i know haven't a clue what a neptunian looks like however, *i* know that spacey, dreamy look when i see it. MEGABOOBY, snap out of it!!

are you homeless?

does being in transition count? and will clicking my heels three times work?

Dear VeryBigBobby,

Wow, so many difficult questions ...
Really, I wouldn't know, but I will ask the I Ching tonight, is that OK?

Martin

PS: A book ruling my life?? Come on! Maybe I'm nuts but I am not dumb ...

I think that ("meaning myself") was clear, Megabobby

.
I wonder, do you look as if you come from Neptune, dreamy eyes and all that?
I knew a girl who had Neptune on the ascendant in her astrological chart. She looked like a Tarot picture.

I liked your joking & serious questions.
My idea:
Books (the I Ching, bibles, holy scriptures and so on) can inspire and explain, but I think they are bad guides.
It's too easy to misinterpret them and they cannot communicate the subtle nuances of Being (what Gurdjieff called C-influences). Only a living teacher can do that.

I have Neptune in the first house, so far though, as far as I know, I haven't bowled anyone over by looking right through them with piercing eyes. Then again, maybe people just don't tell me.

I will respond to the questions that are a little interesting.

Q. do you find yourselves overanalyzing every detail of your lives?
No, the I Ching definitely teaches acceptance of the current status, so there isn't any real need to overanalyze, just go with it. It all tends to change now and again you see.
Q. are you on drugs?
Not all the time, but I definitely try not to smoke before I throw the coins, it changes my perception (duh). Smoking during the reading is a much better idea. I once asked the Yi about this and it suggested there was no need to change this habit.
?
Q. when you talk to people, do they look at you like you're from neptune?

Being from Arcturus people rarely make this error. I am sometimes mistaken for a person from Uranus but this of course is quite understandable, considering we are closely related.

Q. are you homeless?
We are all travellers my friend, wherever I hang my hat is my home. (Although this concept can be a little difficult for my Cancerian wife and three children to cope with).

Mega booby,( by the way is a much better name than mega bobby its so much more .....). If you have asked these questions to receive help for your I Ching addiction or other addictions to drugs or romance then this 'coming out' is a good thing, heres my view.
' I chingitis' usually passes after a period, with one knowing all the hexagrams and moving lines by heart, this seems to be a common ailment caught by all devotees at some time.
Love hurts, not the I Ching.
Drugs have been used by many seekers for thousands of years, some drugs love you, care for you and will never hurt you, others the opposite, just find the drugs that love you and drop those that don't.

All the best

Martin,
you said: "I knew a girl who had Neptune on the ascendant in her astrological chart. She looked like a Tarot picture."

Which card and which deck are you talkin' about here? Another Neptune-on-the-ascendant girl reeeally wants to know.

Gene,
you said: "I have Neptune in the first house, so far though, as far as I know, I haven't bowled anyone over by looking right through them with piercing eyes. Then again, maybe people just don't tell me."

Based on your age I calculate Neptune to be in Libra in your chart. You may expect to be 'bowling' people over but you're probably dazzling them with an irresistible charm instead.

David,
you said: "Drugs have been used by many seekers for thousands of years, some drugs love you, care for you and will never hurt you, others the opposite, just find the drugs that love you and drop those that don't."

How do you know which ones love you? My first impression when I looked at Gene's profile page was that he was standing by a huge canabis plant. Was this a wishful thought brought on by this plant's love for me?
biggrin.gif
and should I be responding to its amorous love-call?

Gene,

I think piercing eyes is more Pluto/Scorpio. With Neptune I would expect dreamy oceanic eyes, that silence others. So they cannot say anything about it *grin*.

Dharma,

She looked like a Gypsy girl and she had an etheric quality, as if she appeared in a dream.
In her chart Neptune was in Sagittarius conjunct the sun.
Queen of wands comes near, but it depends on the deck of course.
I once had a unconventional deck done by artists (sorry, forgot the name of the deck). The queen of wands was a young woman on a mountain with a cat, somewhat aloof. The card was done in soft subtle colors. That was the right atmosphere.

on the aleister crowley deck, the queen of wands is kind of bathed in soft orange/red light--atop infinitly high crystal rock tower formations in a lush mystery paradise of the gods.

Ah, you know how my brain ticks already!! If you only knew... I had a message typed just below yours, yesterday morning and then decided not to post it... Actually, my comment was about you, pistachios, cashews, not being nuts and... Kalamata Olives...
biggrin.gif
(Having visited Greece several times I've become addicted to those darn things...and chilled Retsina wine)

As for Megabooby (yes, I like that better, so much more potential. It reminds me of the movie Kung Pow, Enter the Fist...), what can I say? He not only forgot to include Obsessive-Compulsive Dissorder among his musings (this is more justifiable than doing some drugs) but it occurs to me that he may also be missing the forest for the trees. On the positive side, he should know that he's in very good company in this asylum.

As a vegetarian, I am always on the lookout for interesting and innovative ways of spicing up and flavouring meals and dishes. I have recently started dropping in about a dozen or so of those tasty Kalamata olives into a stew-dish (and a glass of Retsina on the side while I cook, of course) and that's one amazing culinary experience if I must say so myself!

I was in Greece a few months ago, in Lesvos, and earlier I was three times in Lefkada.
I'm thinking about moving to Greece, eventually, because I love the country and the people, but I want to learn the language first. When, oh when?
OK (promise to myself), this winter I will take a course in Greek language!
happy.gif

BTW, I am also a vegetarian (I don't eat meat or fish) but I discovered that that is no problem in Greece. Olives, wine leaves, tomatoes stuffed with rice, green and white beans, greek salad, and so on, it's a paradise for the vegetarian belly ...

Indeed!! Though there are many things in life to enjoy away from the table, nothing beats sitting down to some delectable vegetarian eatable when it's time to eat. Truly, real enjoyment of food and eating only began for me when I omitted meat from the menu.

And Greece... don't get me started! That click-your-heels-three-times thing doesn't work and I haven't racked up enough airmiles to get me close enough to one of the oceans at this time but... I, for one, have yet to meet a Greek who backed down from a challenge! so Martin, the race between which one of us gets there first, is on!

Whooosh the flag's down and she's off!

Martin,
Mars in the first house AND you live in Holland!! Not fair, foul play!!

however...

[silently thinking to self] with Neptune in the first house [looking up and lightly raking fingernails over neck slowly...] I just might be able to mesmerize him into believing that he has all the time in the world and end up winning the race much like the tortoise did in its race with the hare. It's worked before with other things, it's certainly worth a shot, me thinks.

And I like Demitra better. 'Dharma' makes me wonder where Greg is. :) Dharma and Greg is a TV show, in case you don't receive it in Canada.

'Joan' is the name on my birth certificate, so I'm stuck with it. I used to dream of angelfish in a tank, but I fancy myself more like a Manta Ray, aka Devilfish, gliding through the ocean, not bothering anyone that doesn't bother me.

I have been told I have both my sun and moon in Pisces, with Pisces rising. A triple whammy, so they say. But if what I read were true, I should be addicted to all kinds of drugs and alcohol. I am not. The only thing I'm addicted to is food. I love food, especially my own Greek cooking. And I eat meat too, without guilt. I accept that nature made me a carnivore just like lions and tigers. Who who am I to argue with Mother Nature's design?

Joan,
you said: "...And I eat meat too, without guilt. I accept that nature made me a carnivore just like lions and tigers. Who who am I to argue with Mother Nature's design?"

If eating meat is processed by your body well then it may in fact be the best diet for you. This is fine and there is no need for guilt. In fact, one's eating habits should be health-based not ethics and morality based anyway.

My background in health and nutrition indicates that Mother Nature's design is not a cookie cutter one-size-fits-all thing. Some people are made to eat meat and some are not, depending on blood type. Different blood types produce subtle chemistry differences that affect metabolism and hormonal balance and so not all foods have the same effect upon all individuals. We each have inherited differences in digestion and absorbtion capabilities for various foods so health and healing are primarily a matter of providing one's body with the specific nourishment that it needs to sustain it's natural strength and vitality.

Blood type O is the oldest type that evolved around 40,000 B.C. and needs lots of lean meat protein. Blood type A emerged as humans became agriculturists 25,000 to 15,000 B.C. - these are the true vegetarians. Blood type B emerged in the Himalayas 15,000 to 10,000 B.C. - these types are similar to blood O in many ways but need to consume much protein foods from vegetables as well. While blood type AB, the newest type, evolved around 10 centuries ago, is similar to type A in many ways yet requires a small protein food source from time-to-time, such as fish occasionally.

Any way, hope you found this interesting.
happy.gif

Martin,
you said: "Ti lete? H grammh einai kakh! Mporeite na milhisete kapwz pio kaqara?"

For someone who earlier mentioned his need to learn greek you certainly have a masterful command of it. (???) Now why would you misrepresent yourself! (well it's either that or you know how to use a web-based translator like everyone else!)
wink.gif

In any case, since you don't seem to address my comments but ask me to clarify what I've said I take it that you require some assistance?
biggrin.gif
Let me help then.

I said: Terrific Mr Martin, you win this time! HOWEVER!... you still don't speak greek... and this is where I win! (meaning: it will take you a lot longer to manage this aspect than it will for me to get to greece, even if it took a few years)

Where would you like to begin? With the alphabet or the numbers?

A, B, C, D... one, two, three, four...

Hi Dharma,

Thank you for your translation!
My mastery of the Greek language is very near to zero. I copied "Ti lete ..." from a book for travelers in Greece, chapter "Telephone"
biggrin.gif
. The only problem was how to get the greek letters right, took me about half an hour ...
I agree, the language is a problem, but I promised myself that I will take a course this winter
happy.gif
.

Now I wonder in which sign your Neptune dreams.
Feels like Scorpio ...
If you don't reveal it, I am right, because Scorpio keeps things secret *grin*.
