WikiWing and Change Circle members, here it is.

There's the odd bit of funny text where html special characters didn't migrate, and we have the wrong editor for page sections (it still works, though, and you have the right one for whole-page edits), but it's there.

This is all thanks to Ted from VaultWiki, who will be off work for medical reasons from this weekend until October, but despite having that on his mind has squeezed in the import for us at the last minute.

If you find any problems, please post them here - though if they're beyond me to fix, they may have to wait until Ted's return.

Hooray it's back -

At a glance I noticed in hex 40 all the titles of sections are whited out. I mean the Image and all the line sections the bold text has gone totally blond. Is that what you meant when you said special characters didn't migrate ?

Oh and perhaps you would pass on to Ted our thanks and our wishes for a straightforward operation and his speedy recovery.

No - I meant that you will find words like 'you&circquotre' or whatever instead of 'you're', where the smartquotes haven't come through. I noticed the blond headings, too; that's something I'll be able to fix, though I'm hoping he will tell me where to edit it and save me trawling through 50 template files in search of the right one.

Will do.

For what it's worth, I can see them (I think - if we're all talking about the same thing?). Or maybe Hilary fixed it already?

Ditto about passing along thanks and best wishes to Ted! 🌟

Oh, and @Trojina, have you seen on your "What's New" page the light that's been shined into a hitherto dark corner? 🔦

Yes, I fixed it. There was a perfectly obvious setting to tweak, no need to go digging for stylesheets.

I hadn't seen that! Excellent. Maybe I should link to that from the menu instead of the 'recent changes' page.

Isn't 'what's new' the same as 'latest posts' ? Or is it fancier, I don't know where it is must follow link again but if I scroll down I see latest posts.

yes Hilary has fixed the blond into brunette so that's done

the rest can wait till September or October. No idea what 'newsfeed' is I mean I see but don't know what qualifies as 'news feed' or know what those words mean 'news feed'. Wouldn't that be for news ? News of what, it appears to be random what is underneath it.

Fancier! It's a single page with quite a few tabs for different sorts of updates (two new ones since last night, one of which you might be especially happy to see 🔦 ;)). It's splendiferous. (Actually I don't know yet exactly what all the differences are between all the tabs, but I'm glad they're there.) Yes, follow the link, you'll be amazed.

In the "Community" menu, under "Search," the "Latest posts" link - that'll take you to the page, and then you'll see all the tabs.

Here's a spoiler in case I'm not making sense (quite likely) so you don't have to keep asking -

...the tab for "New WikiWing Comments"!

No idea what you mean but 'latest wiki comments' are from 2015 ! Erm but what will I be happy to see ? Is it 'newsfeed' ?

But I bet the comments are from 2015 because the WW comment sections were such dusty gloomy places - you were the one who always said so - that no one ever used them. Maybe people will use them more now? Or not, of course.

(We don't have to talk about this anymore, really we don't. :paperbag:)

Oh I'm with you now, I was thinking wiki comments were entries but it's the discussion. There's a 2019 entry under the 2015 entry but yes it might just renovate the cellars though I wouldn't be surprised to find dead bodies down there.

Liselle where is this 'what's new page' how do I access it, where is it on the forum. I can use your link but I can't use that every time and I just can't see where it is situated ?

Open "Community" in the main menu, then look in the "Search" column for a link called "Latest posts." Clicking on that will take you to the page with the various sorts of updates, which looks like this

whats-new-pg.JPG

The column headings in the taupe-colored bar are clickable tabs - when you click on one you get a page with its particular information listed on it, Latest posts, WikiWing updates, etc.

They all show something different, but I haven't gotten around to figuring out exactly precisely what the differences are. (Well, the WikiWing ones are obvious, but the rest, I mean.)

Another sort of information list is your own personal alerts - instead of site activity overall, it shows you updates only to things (threads, WikiWing pages) you're subscribed to, as well as reactions (likes) to your posts, etc.

For that, again go to Community in the main menu, then the Membership column, then click on the little bell. If you scroll to the bottom of the resulting pop-up, you'll see a link for "Show all..." which will open a full page with all your alerts. (The link to the page where you control what you get is also there: "Preferences".)
