Perfectly on time, thanks! We'll look at your reading, and then have a go at Hexagram 63 as nuclear.

Just nuclear hexagrams this Thursday (25th) next Thursday (December 2nd) this Friday, December 3rd: we'll 'finish' with 63 and then circle round to 64.

(Sorry for mucking round with the date again. I'll email to explain!)

Hi Hilary, I have a reading that I chose because it correlates to the discussion we will be having about the Nuclear hexagrams, and also because it makes use of the dream incubation template you just sent us.

Incubated Question

To dream about something the needed to be brought to the forefront of my attention.

Dream Story

I had a dream that when looking out the window of my house I noticed that all sorts of stray animals had taken up residence in my yard. They were clustered in families, cats, dogs, sheep, foxes, etc. they all looked very comfortable, and ‘nested” and didn’t look like they were about to go anywhere. They were all docile and getting along, and all resting, but the numbers of them were overwhelming and there was little yard left. I had no idea what I was going to do with them.

Where? Who? What? Why? How does it look, sound, smell, feel?

Waking Life Connections

I am not sure what could have triggered this dream.

Also - could anything in the dream plausibly happen in future? Could this be precognitive? I hope not!

Ideas, Associations, Reflections

I am a teacher. I take in groups all the time.

Honouring the Dream

What you will do in waking life in response. Research something, contact someone, decide something, ask Yi about an element of the dream, carry something with you...?

I asked the Yi. See below.

Yijing Reading Template

Background

Dream about stray animals in my yard.

Intention

I would like to better understand what this dream is trying to tell me..

Question

What is the meaning of the dream I had about stray animals in my yard.

Ideas, Associations, Reflections

I got hexagram 27.3 Nourishment - 22 Beauty

Portable Version

Nourish yourself wisely. Be careful what you take in, take on, and what you nurture in yourself and others.

What This Changes

It is time to make time for needed reflection about general health and how to recharge my batteries after ending the semester. Take the short span of time to assess what really nourishes my soul.

Review
Could also be a sign that you've progressed and other points of view in the form of animal energies are drawn to you.

Today's Well Gathering is mostly to discuss future plans, but I did post a reading here for background.

OK, let's get this show on the road again!

Our next Well Gathering (for both Change Circle and WikiWing members, as ever) will be on Sunday June 19th but at the different and unusual time of 11am in the UK. Check that in your own timezone here:

This is to make the gathering accessible to members in the Asian-Pacific region, for a change. I'm afraid this makes it a great deal less accessible to people in the States - pesky globe-shaped planet, creating timezone problems for us. The idea is to keep most Well Gatherings at more US-and-Europe friendly times, since that will suit the majority of members, but if there are enough people from Japan, New Zealand etc who'd like to come at the earlier time, then we can have the occasional call then, too.

Topic: readings, if there are some. If not, I thought we could simply pick a hexagram and pool our experiences and impressions.

So as ever, if you can come - at this time - and would like to bring a reading, please post a link to it here.

(This call's a timing experiment, but tbh it's also an internet-connection-quality experiment. I'm in temporary accommodation at the moment, and the connection is a bit flakey. I've managed to have a couple of 1:1 Zoom conversations, though, so it should be fine...)

Thanks again to everyone who came on the 19th and coped with what turned out to be some quite extreme internet flakiness on my end. I should have a better internet connection now, but I'll still ask someone to stand by to take over facilitating each call in case things go pear-shaped again.

Plans...

There will be a regular monthly Well Gathering on the first Sunday of each month at 6pm UK time. (That leaves us plenty of openings to fit in some Asia-Pacific-friendly meetings too, but I'm afraid I can't commit to a regular time for those at the moment.)

The first of these is on Sunday, 3rd July. You can check when it is in your own timezone here:
http://www.worldtimebuddy.com/event?lid=2643743,5,8&h=2643743&sts=27613380&sln=18-19&a=show&euid=ff061909-bc13-2854-a555-dad6f44f7000

If you'd like to bring a reading, please post a link to it here - and if you'd like to suggest a hexagram for discussion, please post that here too. As usual, when I email you the Zoom link, I'll also let you know our topic for the call.

To participate (and get the email with the link) you just need to be a member of Change Circle or WikiWing. Call recordings will be stored in the Change Circle Library.

Hi Hilary,
I'd like to suggest exploring Hexagram 4 on Sunday. It's come up for me a couple of times recently and I'm never sure if it's encouraging, or if I'm being reprimanded.

Also, there are some interesting perspectives on the James Dekorne site that I've never heard before and are rather intriguing.

thanks,

Bob

Not sure I'll be able to join in today so here are some thoughts about 4...
I see Youthful Folly as representing that stage in the process where no more can be learned from asking others about their experiences and (4.1) there is no progress possible unless one leaves the classroom and has some real life adventures of their own. (4.2) Happily we all seem to be born with a few basic instincts that can maintain us now but (4.3) we're still subject to temptations and (4.4) feeling unloved and abandoned and that we've lost our way - which of course is (4.5) totally laughable because we are always on our right path! So the solution when we're wishing for things to be other than the way they are is to (4.6) remove those inappropriate temptations and enjoy where we are now, mainly eating and drinking with friends while (5.) Waiting for our own path to become clear.

It's that time again: we have a Well Gathering tomorrow Sunday 7th at 6pm UK time.

We need a reading or two to discuss - or perhaps someone would like to nominate a hexagram?

Will this likely end in disaster?

My husband decided to replace a rusty faucet in the bathroom shower...
This has led to tearing out the shower walls, tub, floor, part of the ceiling, drilling through cement, and evicting a thriving community of mice.

How will this end? 38.1.2 - 35.

Hi Hilary,

I'm new to the community and the Well Gathering, and I'm looking forward to learn from everyone!

May I suggest hexagram 15 for tomorrow's session? I keep receiving this as a relating hexagram for questions on work / career. Example:

What should I focus on for my project this year?
Hex 39 Limping line 5 to Hex 15 Integrity

What is the best thing I can do for my career?
Hex 20 Seeing line 3,5,6 to Hex 15 Integrity

Many thanks.

Thank you, Rosada, Mulberry and Emy! That's probably more than we can do in one call, so let's take a 'first come, first served' approach: Rosada, then Mulberry, and Emy, apologies-in-advance if we don't get to yours, but we do have this handy thread in Yi Academy where we just started discussing the very line you cast.

Hi again Hilary, I regret,f an opportunity to dance outside has come up last minute, which I would like to do, and the time is such that I regret I don't think I will return in time to join the Well-Gathering. Really sorry. I will watch the replay and hopefully be there the next time.

It looks like I get to pick the hexagram! OK, how about 47, Confining? It's come up in an interesting Change Circle reading recently.

I was just noticing that 46. is Pushing Upward and 47. Oppression can be read as Pushing Downward.

That is a very clever observation, Rosada. I haven't watched the recording yet, hope to today.

Interesting how 46.6 has one pushing upwards in the dark but the advice is to keep on pushing on. Playing around with this..
So it would seem 47. Oppression is discussing how to be when the person keeps on until exhausted from all the rules and red knee-bands and the not having a clear sign of where they should be going. So the advice is to not give up but to take some time out for some refreshment and specifically don't get all pouty and passive aggressive and refuse to be revived. Thus the image of 49 reminds one you really aren't being Oppressed - you have a mandate and if you keep on your success is assured.

New Well Gathering coming up this Sunday (18th Sept) at the earlier time of 11am UK, especially for members in the Asia Pacific region - though obviously anyone who's awake at the time is very welcome.

As usual, if you'd like to bring a reading on the day, please post a link to it here. (Just a link, ideally, so we have a separate thread where we can discuss the details of your reading. Also, this means that if you're a Change Circle member, you can post your reading in the Reading Circle forum and keep it confidential.)

If we don't have readings to discuss, we can pick a hexagram to explore. Readings first, though!

I have a suggestion for the Well Gathering on 18th September.
Hexagram #50, 1, 4 #26
The Vessel changing to Great Taming.
I do art and asked 'What can I learn from Indigo dyeing?' I had just been on a workshop about it.
The Yi's reply very graphically addressed a completely different aspect of my life.
I was wondering if other members have had this kind of experience.

Hi Christina,

Would you like to talk about the reading, or more about this experience of Yi changing the subject?
