I think all of us have a life purpose, and it would do us great good to discover it and act in harmony with it.

I asked the Yi "What are the unique gifts I have been given, and what should I do with them ?" The answer was 33.3.4.6 -> 8

In the context of my gifts and what should I do with them, it talks about retreat and union. What should I retreat from, and what should I unite with ?

Retreat from what can harm you. Keep small people at a distance with respect. Could this mean to retreat from those habits and people that make it difficult for me to realize my gifts ?

How about union? Does Hex 8 mean to unite with the source ?

I wasn't very sure, so I cast 2 more readings, about that retreat and union might mean.

What do I need to retreat from ? 22.6 -> 36
Could this mean retreat from anything which is unnatural ? I am not very sure what this reading might mean.

Next, I asked, Please clarify what should I unite with ? 26.1.3 -> 4
I am not very sure what this means.

Can anyone please help me understand this reading.

Thanks.

You are over complicating things. You are already living your life purpose. The first reading may show you need to withdraw from outer pursuits to connect with source yes...and I more or leass agree with your interpretation of your first answer except I wouldn't take it as a lifetime answer. Its your answer for now. People generally cannot help help but live their purpose anyway...it isn't outside of their lives and all these new age books make out theres one specific thing we have to find.......etc etc....so yes I agree with your take

Then you ask what to retreat from and you get 22.6...you only need to simplify thats all. Maybe from distracting things or things that take emotional energy you need to fully engage with the hex 8 stuff

Then you made Yi clarify ;) and I feel this answer basically is a signal to back off the force of this enquiry. I say this because of hex 4 as relating and 26.1 Retreat doesns't have to mean there is something bad after you...its often retreat towards something not away from. A reclusive monk doesn't go away from people becasue they may hurt him he goes away to find clarity for inner focus.

Thanks Trojan, I guess sometimes we tend to overcomplicate things. Maybe simple contemplation, and meditation is all that is required.

Ragini,
The most meaningful the question is for us, then, the most meaningful the answer will be.The question you made was important to help me/us to search for our life purpose and how we are relating to it. There are times when our research helps others along the way .
Thanks!

Inner detachment is a unique gift, particularly if you remain cheerful. It increases the likeliness of good health and longevity.

The light retreats to security, so that the dark cannot encroach upon it. This retreat is a matter not of man's will but of natural law. Therefore in this case withdrawal is proper; it is the correct way to behave in order not to exhaust one's forces.

Look at wild animals. Birds fly away, south upon the approaching winter, snakes and even big bear hibernate. Dangerous animals normally attack out of self defense, or hunting only those which are lame, careless or imprudent, offered as a sacrifice of food.

One young man was on a quest to find his animal ally. The shaman gave him medicine to assist him in his quest. He was hoping for something regal and noble, a cougar, a bear, or an eagle, because those were things he admired. Instead, a flea came to him and made itself known as the young man's spirit guide and ally. At first the man felt insulted and downcast, "only a mere flea," he thought. The shaman rolled around on the ground in a fit of laughter, seeing how the young seeker's ego had been dashed to the size and status of a flea. Therein was the young man's special gift, holding together with the humble flea.

ah. but the flea is far stronger, more agile, and more indestructible than any of those big mammals or birds. If he was really really powerful, his guide might have been a roach ;)

Came across this and the flea reminded me of this thread. It's abstract, and the music is a bit overbearing of the message, but perhaps you receive something from it, Ragini.

Thanks sooo, the video got me thinking about the ego and how it holds us back with all the illusions it creates. It does give us the myself vs. others kind of feeling, but it also seems like a tool which is necessary for functioning in this world at least till a person has evolved enough spirituality to not need the ego to function.

Hi Ragini,

I could not agree more. I'm usually one to defend the usefulness of the ego when it's routinely made to be a subject of inferiority, or when it's held in contempt and blamed for all our 'spiritual' problems. However, when I saw this video, I liked its message of not striving for spiritual superiority (or perhaps our unique gifts?), that our purpose is to simply live our life, be fully present in it, and the flea image seemed to serve the same as in the story of that young man and his ally. It reminded me of this thread, so I figured I just post the link to it here. :)

The only thing that I could suggest is to ask yourself, "What brings me joy?" or "If I could do anything or be anything, I would_________?" Personally, I love to talk to people about that same question. When I ask them that question the general response is "I don't know. I never really thought about it." Funny thing is that when I get people to open up about things like this they have great joy talking about whatever it is that they have in mind. I think it's because people really love others being genuinely interested in knowing about them.

Think about this...when you were young, say 5 - 8 years old, what did you like to do that brought you a sense of wonder, joy and a sense of involvement that you lost track of time? What did you have a certain knack or talent for? These are some things that will help you.

Hi sooo,

I agree, the ego does have it's uses till a person progresses enough. I have experienced this first hand - letting go the ego, without a strong enough spiritual foundation leads to a lot of pain and feeling of disillusionment. I think at some stage the ego must go, and perhaps living our life and being fully present in it might actually set the spiritual stage for it.

Thanks, your thoughts on this thread have been very helpful:bows:

Thanks, I have actually been doing that and the exercise is helping me a lot. I asked myself the question that if I could do anything or be anything, what would I do? I made a list of the answers and then tried to inquire why I would do that. The intention was to try and understand if I would like to do something entirely for myself, or for the perception it creates to society.

This exercise has been wonderful in helping me recognize what truly matters, though I think it will take a little while to change my habits, lifestyle, and outlook to really match this.

Hi - all the responses are helpful. I often see retreat as back off - I can
be a very out there person and coming away from situations helps my
clarity and well being. There is something I need to come away from..

8 always requires another casting for clarity about your role in union -
and you did right to cast again

as for your 3rd casting 26>4 it made me chuckle - in my experience the
Yi always responds with 4 when I am overcasting on a certain topic.
26 > 4 might be a great big ask no more.

I would keep pondering on the first 2 castings

8 may mean that you are good at pulling things or people together in
common cause,,,,,does that ring true?

what you need to retreat from is that which is merely form without substance 22
and anything/anyone that darkens your light 36

on contemplating this you may be left with some thoughts about yourself and can
ask the Yi

on things that you bring together ask the Yi whether this is a special facet of you
-- ditto for superficial/darkening things you may perceive in your world

someone wrote - what you are supposed to be doing you have been doing your
whole life - by natural law we tend to our strengths

Hi Hopex, Thanks, your reply helped me a lot.

Yes I think I am good at pulling people together for a common cause, but I do not think I am very good at group processes, so most likely I will have a hard time keeping the group together. I will think about this a bit more and also ask the Yi once again, if this is a special facet, and if I can fulfill a role in bringing people together for a cause.

I have also been thinking about "retreating from things which are form without substance, and people/things that might cause darkening of the light" The more I think about this I feel that many perceived misfortunes in my life, seem to be messages to move away from all things which are form without substance, and from things/people which cause darkening of the light. This appears to be a very important part of the message which I am getting.

Thanks

I have to be quite honest, you sound as if you have a gift for inspiring people to do great things. I bet you have love and a hope for people to reach their best potential. I also bet that you have great optimism about an ideal that you hold for humanity. Do you see people as potentials of the wisdom of God, where everyone perfected in their way (or striving to be) share their gifts selflessly for all humanity in attaining the highest good? I know I do. Call me a romantic.

But I wonder, if this being the case, that you are frustrated and/or disillusioned with all the open display of base human nature; hence, the need or desire to retreat from it all.

I will certainly tell you that I have a gift to inspire people for good because it comes from a true conviction that people are good. I am an idealistic person and I paint this ideal within the minds of people and make them joyful, at least if they are having a crummy day I can make them forget about it by listening to them and drawing out that steam that they have pent up.

All I can say is keep searching. You will find yourself. I am in the same boat as you, at least that is what it sounds to me. But I wish you the best in your journey. The universe will give you what you are looking for. Ask, and it shall be given; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it will be opened to you. :)

P.S. If I am way off the mark, accept my apology.

Hello beyond_the_veil, you said it so well. I probably could not have explained what I feel about humanity, as well as you did. I think we both are definitely personality twins :)

Yes, I do believe that everyone is basically good, and has the potential to achieve the wisdom of god. It is quite a co-incidence, but I was talking with a friend today, that we are all unique in our own ways. Understanding that uniqueness, and then being in harmony with it, by way of action, thoughts, and words, would be a wonderful way to lead our lives :)

I genuinely like to inspire people and try to do my bit in helping someone achieve their potential... though I am not sure if I myself am anywhere close to achieving my potential, and what is it I should do to achieve it :)

I am still on with my search. The universe is blessing me with peace and calmness, and I am sure guidance and strength will also follow...

Thanks for your reply beyond_the_veil, lots of good luck to you too :)
