Being new to Yi Jing I asked this question because I see the Source a lot in my readings so today I decided to find out more about it.

1 is Creative Force. It talks about there being a vital energy that powers all things. It is the creative flow behind all things and that it likes to manifest. It can be found within.
It looks like to me the changing lines are pointing out that there is a cycle that occurs just like when a seed grows.
I guess that the terms Source and Creative Force are interchangeable?

46 is Pushing Upward - in this hexagram I get the feeling that, while the Source is the vital energy that powers all things, It will not necessarily force its self on you. The Source is not dependent on people being aware of it. If no one was aware of the Source, it would still be doing its thing because if it didn't we would cease to exist. But if you are aware of it you can develop a relationship with it and that will be among other things a great help to ones work.

I really like the idea that you can find the Source within, which means that its within everyone, so you can reach out to it within yourself or reach out to others for learning which creates community.

This my initial interpretation. Do you think I am on the right track?

I think it also expresses the range of source, that creative energy is always in motion not stagnant (1 > 46), and that source is contained even in a line like 1.6 which is about going too far. Lying in wait, gestating, leaping, flying, hovering, overdoing, too little ego, too much ego -- source expressing in all these things. Could even be "energy rising" which definitely fits with Hex 1 since it's pure yang. Advancing, climbing up (46). "The power of heaven to create and destroy"; enduring. (from Karcher for Hex 1). Interesting that 46 says "chastising closes the way", maybe speaking to the openness of source in its desire to express as almost anything. An amoral quality of pure movement, force, maybe some kind of success too.

This has me thinking about the Source being amoral and us humans, not so much, even though we should look within to connect with It. I ended up asking Yi what would it be like if all humans were amoral.
I took the answer as a 'there's good and bad in everything' kind of answer.
58.1.3 to 28. 58 is Opening and 28 is Great Exceeding.
58 is positive and upbeat with things like "joyful expression that opens up communication", 'bring people together and begin a live creative process of sharing and exchange", "liberate human energies" even said this "create a harmonious connection that is not dominated or distorted by what people need from one another" which has an amoral ring to it I suppose.
Line 1 is still upbeat then line 3 begins the pitfall transition into 28 where you get
"This means stress, and also a greatness of spirit and purpose that goes beyond the scope of the situation" and "Imbalance, overloading the structure" as if to say we are humans, not the Source, so we have capacity to run the energy of the Source but just not full on.
Fun stuff. :)
