I have been reading articles saying there were indeed weapons of mass destruction found in iraq but not the sort the public has been lead to believe they were looking for. Rather the weapons were something capable of creating the catastrophe in Japan and more over the articles are saying the quake was somehow man made. I'm not big on conspiracy theories but I went ahead and asked, "what caused the earthquake/tsunami in Japan?"

I received 16.1 - 51. Enthusiasm that expresses itself brings misfortune.

Any ideas?

16.1 > 51

Titanic forces deep in the earth. Hexagram 16 is Earth below and Shock above. It is a model of a slice of the planet. When things are shocked they are movable, so the hexagram represents Japan above and the vast earth below it. The point of activity is in the lowest place in the Earth trigram, so the driving force is deep within the earth. No need for WMD here.

Agreed. These hexagrams seem to be the picture of a natural earthquake, pure and simple.
I appreciate your observation that the change line at the bottom of the earth trigram would point to something happening deep within the earth.

and both 16 and 51 share 39 as their nuclear hex. Which has water on top of mountain.

I think its a natural disaster and not man made. Tsunami is a japanese word after all, it not the first time they have suffered from earthquakes or tsunamis.

Malaysia earthquakes, floods in Brisbane, earthquake in New Zealand and earthquake/tsunami in Japan. Have I missed any more natural disasters that have happened in the last couple of years?

Thank you for pointing out the nuclear trigrams, Chingching.
Wowza. I had always looked at 39 as meaning a dyke like mountain keeping the water out. Now I will see it as the water on top, coming over the mountain.
Interesting the Image for this hexagram says, "the superior man turns his attention to himself and molds his character. " Yeah, like when you see the tsunami coming and the water is rising over the mountain all you can do is turn your attention to yourself and prepare to meet your maker.
God bless Japan.

Hi Rosada,

Just to add. A while ago I asked Yi about climate change: 16.3 > 62.
Waiting for leaders to take action ain't gonna cut it (because as we've seen they won't) so we have to make our own efforts... every little helps perhaps.

Thought I'd share as I hadn't realised the earth/shock trigrams which comprise hex 16 (I never look at this aspect when interpereting a reading - it might simplify things!), which fits in with the notion of climate change - the earth reacting to shock. And as the line is higher up perhaps this represents that it is closer to the surface - even above it, such as the weather which is the expression of climate change (as opposed to an earthquake).

Do you remember how you phrased your question?
Or was it not a question but more of a "Please comment on climate change"?
thanx,
r.

'How can we 'save' our planet now?' was how I worded it.

here is the original post: http://www.onlineclarity.co.uk/friends/showthread.php?t=7457

I have since learnt that the Gaia theory is more a story. That in reality the earth is not an organism that's consciously trying to kick us off for its own survival, but I guess its emotive and encourages a sense of urgency. This clarifies:

"... the gaia hypothesis which likens the earth and the biosphere to an organism is useful if it leads people to value the biosphere and scientifically correct in that it emphasises the role of living organisms in altering climate and the chemical composition of the Earth's oceans and atmosphere. But is misleading if it leads people to expect the earth to defend herself, as an animal or plant might defend itself."

Yeah, like when you see the tsunami coming and the water is rising over the mountain all you can do is turn your attention to yourself and prepare to meet your maker.

I know, all your possessions, gone... nothing but your person. shock and awe.

em ching, I suppose the earth cant defend itself, but it will always rebalance itself...we are apart of the earth, all of us...even people who dont recycle (;)) I get weary of environementalism and its tendency to have this kind of latent dislike of humans. Too often its ideologies are used to separate 'them' from 'us'.

The earth has always had climate change, climate doesnt stay the same.

Also the earth is bigger than us and tsunamis occured before humans proliferated across its surface. And global warming is up for debate. I'm not against caring for our planet, but I have seen too many 'truths' proven wrong or opposite. In terms of the climate problem I actually think we dont know enough yet. That being said there have been some major shifts in people's awareness of the environment and that counts.

People get upset because those in power dont change the rules quick enough, or adapt to environmental needs enough and need a catastrophe to get moving... but look at us in our personal lives... I know many times its taken a disaster to get me moving... not always and I'm getting batter ...but it is a great motivator.

Anyway it just got me thinking, and by no means do I wish to take the weight out of the subject either.

And I think doing our own small part is central too.
