Hi there,
Last night I woke up a bit distressed with a dream I had and asked the meaning of it to the IC. The answer doesn't seem negative, but I can't grasp what it means...also I read somewhere lines 1 and 4 are connected somehow but I can't recall the relationship between them. Any insights would be very helpful. Thanks

Hi WillowFox,

this interpretation is a bit cryptic... Or is it not an interpretation?...

Mind expanding? Cheers!

We need some idea of what the dream was about, then we can apply the answer given.

24, 1, 4, > 16

hmmm ... a returning to the beginning of a cycle, within the context of ideas or mind or dreams. Or, a returning to the beginning of a cycle, within the context of enthusiam. Not sure.

Perhaps the dream in re-running an incident or taking you back to it. Or, it is something to happen in the future. Or, an incident happening now.

24 ... returning in cycle. Or, cyclical. Same plane or higher-order?
24.1 ... perhaps an error you are supposed to learn from or correct. Perhaps, you need to be open to the error to learn from it. Although I might be being a little concrete in my interpretation of LISE's interpretation here.
24.4 ... Less clear. Wonder if you have to own your part in this error. Perhaps, being open to coming half-way.
16 ... feels like the backdrop of the dream itself. Whether this has happened or is prophetic. Not sure. LISE mentions dreams in her explanation of 16.

One connection between lines 1 and 4 is that they are the beginnings of their respective trigrams. For fear of sounding like an advertisment for LISE's site, but she does give a comprehensive review of line positioning. I think Hiliary's site does as well.

Neat to hear about your dream though.thanks!

That's why I said that we need to know more about the dream itself.

Hi OWL
What did that dream mean? 24.1.4>16
The dream means that there is a false situation around you that you now have a chance to rectify, to see things how they really are. Your thinking may need to be amended and approaching things differently in your behaviours may also help. When you realise what the things are that you have been seeing 'through the mist', then you will have reached a point in your learning that will allow you to do something about it. You will see the bigger picture and this will allow you to address what you now know needs to be addressed with renewed enthusiasm.

Line 1 can be about what has brought you to a situation and line 4 can be about the evaluation and choices that you make.

To my way of looking at this the content of the dream is irrelevant. Asking the Yi about what the dream meant by-passes any need to know about the content. This is my interpretation of what the Yi was saying about the meaning of the dream.
In simple terms, in my interpretation it's about looking at where you have come from, seeing things for what they really are and stepping forward into the new dawn.

Be Well

Mike

Dream: 24.2.4 > 16

Taking a stab in the darkness (of your dream life):

In the context of 16, spontaneously acting, resting quietly when tired, or doing other things quite naturally, including having fantasies while dreaming:

Hexagram 24. Please be reassured; there is no danger.

In the first line, strong positivity comes back. The right way is restored before going too far wrong. Here at the beginning, the positive qualities are still very faint, as if just recovering from something, because the turning point has arrived.

The fourth line: 'Even when walking with others, do not hesitate to change direction if necessary to follow your inner truth.' Sometimes the people we are with are not right for us just then, and we need to return to ourselves. This can mean turning to walk away or even turning temporarily away, because being by ourselves is the right thing to do.

I hope this has been helpful.
