Rosada,
It would be cool if you'd like to make longer commentaries. Your commentary about "I wanna Hold Your Hand" helped me to understand the connection to hexagram 53.
I like what you say, too, about the sequence of hexagrams.
I listed (in a recent post) the ones we haven't touched, yet, at all. I expect you will come up with great suggestions. (I've become tired, for the time being, after my rush of energy !).

Hexagram 22 : Beautiful Boy

(is this Lennon or the Beatles? - I think the Beatles sang it together..)

Maxwell 's Silver Hammer -- Hexagram 21

Happy Just to Dance with you -- 16 (maybe!)

Throwing these out there - not so sure!

Ok yes I understand 53 for I wanna hold your hand now, I think I missed some early threads, I think its also interesting the difference in which we look at the hexagrams via this method compared to each other. This game when you play it really makes you think or does me anyway.

Also I am so so so sorry on the confusion of happiness is a warm gun yes 16 , i was thinking about "Yer Blues" for 41

Yes, I'm lonely, wanna die
Yes, I'm lonely, wanna die
If I ain't dead already
Ooh girl, you know the reason why

In the morning, wanna die
In the evening, wanna die
If I ain't dead already
Ooh girl, you know the reason why

My mother was of the sky
My father was of the earth
But I am of the universe
And you know what it's worth

I'm lonely, wanna die
If I ain't dead already
Ooh girl, you know the reason why

The eagle picks my eye
The worm he licks my bone
I feel so suicidal
Just like Dylan's Mr. Jones

Lonely, wanna die
If I ain't dead already
Ooh girl, you know the reason why

Black cloud crossed my mind
Blue mist round my soul
Feel so suicidal
Even hate my rock and roll

Wanna die, yeah, wanna die
If I ain't dead already
Ooh girl, you know the reason why

All opinions are welcome. I'll compile the results, once we're finished.
What about 13 ? And 8? and 35? and 9?

3. Are you crazy?
Ahem, excuse me...
Are you confused?
Who can say?!!!
"Best" in what way?
What are the criteria?

42.6 The IChing has absolutely nothing to gain and everything to lose by voicing an opinion on this!

I don't know why, but I laughed so hard at this.

I nominate "Love, Love Me Do" for hexagram 1.
The lyrics are simple clear and repetitive (strong and untiring) and they include the promise of perseverance, "I'll always be true."
Plus, it was the first song The Beatles recorded and it created their sublime success.

Noted, Love Me Do for Hex 1 -- though I still like Birthday too, because it's the Birth of the Iching
With a Little Help from my Friends
Great idea! Can we put that with hex 13 or hex 8? Maybe with the changing lines?

13 is good its about gathering more closely like a tribe might as 45 is not always about closer friends or associates thats what I have found anyway. 8 should be easy I get this allot for positive relationships or leading to a positive union, ( this is a massive thread cant wait to see the results)

46 -- Getting Better

59 - Within Without You
(about dissolution of boundaries),
specifically Line 3 : He dissolves his self. No remorse.

"When you've seen beyond yourself then you may find
Peace of mind is waiting there
And the time will come when you see we're all one
And life flows on within you and without you"

OK making a final push --( where are you deflatormouse? )

Hexagram 15 : Modesty creates success. The superior man carries things through.
15. 4

The fourth line, magnetic, shows one whose action would be in every way advantageous, stirring up the more her temperance.

Something

"Somewhere in her smile she knows
That I don't need no other lover
Something in her style that shows me"

Hexagram 57
Winds following one upon the other: the image of the gently penetrating.

Because

"Because the wind is high it blows my mind
Because the wind is high...aaaaaaaahhhh

Love is old, love is new
Love is all, love is you"

********************
Hexagram 13.5

Bound in fellowship, first he weeps and lament, but afterward he laughs. After great struggles they succeed in meeting.

I don't want to spoil the party

"Though tonight she's made me sad
I still love her
If I find her I'll be glad
I still love her"

Every Little Thing

"Every little thing she does,
She does for me, yeah."

Hexagram 62

THE JUDGMENT
PREPONDERANCE OF THE SMALL. Success.
Perseverance furthers.
Small things may be done; great things should not be done.
The flying bird brings the message:
It is not well to strive upward,
It is well to remain below.
Great good fortune.

*************

Things We Said Today

Me, I'm just the lucky kind
Love to hear you say that love is luck

Hexagram 25: The Unexpected (Innocence)

*******************

Your Mother Should Know

35. 2

When progress comes with sadness, persistence brings good fortune.

He receives good fortune from the Queen Mother.

*************************************
Hexagram 29 - A Hard Day's Night

It's been a hard day's night, and I'd been working like a dog
It's been a hard day's night, I should be sleeping like a log

Help
(though maybe this song is attached elsewhere too)

Hexagram 60
Success. Bitter limitation should not be continued.
60.6 The sixth line, magnetic, shows its subject enacting regulations severe and difficult. Even with firmness and correctness there will be evil. But though there will be cause for repentance, it will by and by disappear.

Taxman

"Should five per cent appear too small
Be thankful I don't take it all
Cos I'm the taxman, yeah I'm the taxman"
*******************************************************

Don't pass me By

Don't pass me by, don't make me cry, don't make me blue.
'Cause you know darling, I love only you.
You'll never know it hurt me so,
I hate to see you go.
Don't pass me by, don't make me cry.

Hexagram 9.4

Nine in the fourth place means:

No blame. He meets him without passing by.
Going brings danger. One must be on guard.
Do not act. Be constantly persevering.

Hexagram 48 -- deflatormouse suggested Penny Lane,
so let's do that

And then Hexagram 10 could be the Long and Winding Road (or another?-- something about walking? )

***********

Hexagram 8.5 JOINING
Manifestation of holding together.
In the hunt the king uses beaters on three sides only
And forgoes game that runs off in front.
The citizens need no warning.
Good fortune.

"Anna (Go To Him)"

Anna
You come and ask me, girl
To set you free, girl
You say he loves you more than me
So I will set you free
Go with him (Anna)
Go with him (Anna)

The Beatles and Athletic Endurance

We forgot about NO REPLY
TICKET TO RIDE
any ideas?

P.S.
The world champion swimmer Diana Nyad, as she created a record swimming after 60 years old, kept her concentration by singing songs to herself, -- including the Beatles ,
"No Reply," "Imagine," etc
Take a look

Hey, haven't really kept up with this thread- my apologies. But as to 'No Reply', which is a favorite of mine also, that would be an obvious 36. One very literal translation of 'Mingyi' is "Pheasant Call" and in birdsong divination, or as an omen, that amounted to "no response" or "do not respond." (Could be that's where the idea of something hidden or eclipsed comes from?)

What was 36, 'You've Got to Hide your Love Away'? So 'No Reply' would simply correspond to the more literal or historical understanding of that hexagram- "Darkening the Light" may be more analytical. Both songs work for 36. I prefer 'No Reply' as I'm partial to that translation. Keep in mind there are 500+ Beatles songs and 64 hexagrams: there are likely to be a number of appropriate choices for most.

From a similar angle, 'And Your Bird Can Sing' is an alternative possibility for 30, one translation of which is 'Oriole,' or, I suppose, for 36 as well.

Hi deflatormouse --
Due to our combined efforts, we have found a Beatles song for every hexagram (i.e., either the hexagram unchanged or a changing line of it) and sometimes more than one song.
So I will compile the results and we can post them somewhere.
That said, feel free to go through and offer more suggestions, which I'll include. You are very smart about music. Some of the suggestions are a bit "iffy" -- like, first I had Penny Lane with Hexagram 10 but then thought Hexagram 48 (as you suggested) would be better, leaving Hex 10 vacant -- so I thought maybe the Long and Winding Road (which you suggested for 53 but we have a lot for 53 already... ) .. to give you an idea..
I don't have energy to go deeper now, but I 'd be interested if you'd like to go deeper.

I thought myself 48 really for penny lane, the song gives you a feeling like the place has always been there and always will be.
10 would work for long and winding road if you have allot for 53 as well.
Maybe if we see the list of what we have then we can re-arrange some if need be.

I think we need to look at the actual words for hexagram 16. ENTHUSIASM!
It's not a sweet lullaby. It's about the power of music to bring together all of mankind and heaven too.

ENTHUSIASM.
It furthers one to install helpers and to set armies marching!
Make music to honor merit and offer it with SPLENDOR to the Supreme Lord of Heaven.
Invite everyone you know to the celebration.
Woo-Hoo!

I thought of it as a youthful kind of silly song in a way because they had never actually been there although it sounded like they had. It was written during the cold war i believe.
You maybe right 56 maybe better for that song.
Ok ok maybe there could be a better choice, I got mixed up before with another song and hex as well earlier in the thread.
This is twice i have had to explain myself in this thread (LOL)

Steve

PS I do really like the song though it should fit somewhere

Don't worry you can have any song you like I just couldn't see how you got hexagram 4 from that song.

Thanks for explaining
