I ask this question as a guide to what may lie ahead for me if I chose to persue my writing as the main goal to my future, which is not dependent on a positive or negative outcome.

I would like for anyone who wishes to evaluate this for me:brickwall: :brickwall:

Recieveing 22.1.3.4 > 35

22.1 It may say to me; I may be pushing to quickly ahead and need to allow my mind to catch up with my intentions, to cool my heels!

22.3 Here also it is telling me that my thinking on this is not clear, that I am moving without guidence allowing my desire to over ride my logic.

22.4 Here if I trade thinking for doing and cool down a bit the clearity of my actions will allow me to move in a positive direction in time.

35.0 The image is progress, at a time of growth, yet moving forward, being less concerned with the future and staying on the path to move up! to maintain control and gracefully work at becomming what I desire in the future.

Which is clear to me it may not be at all talking about my writeing.

Hi Imbue,

22 has always been a tricky one for me but I'll give my thoughts on it.

There's obviously a lot about being true to yourself and not adopting a mask or false personality. I guess it's our true intentions that need to be evaluated too. I think it's also about letting go and "giving way" a graceful action uncontaminated by egotistical responses. Sticking to truth and honouring opposites in life not competing with these polarities.

My fist question would be to ask myself (which no doubt you're done) what are my core reasons for wanting to become a writer? And if the answer comes back that this is really an authentic intent, something you have to do - a "passion," therefore, a true creative impulse is involved which can develop over time. This would link in with 35. It also means a lot of effort like anything worthwhile.

As to the lines, the Ist might talk about being true to your own creative expression and don't be swayed by the fashions of the day the "in style" or the snobbery that is so present in the arts. Gotta be independent here. Be original.

Line 3 is don't get to rigid and too serious about it. Keep the balance and remain focused so that things can flow.

Line 4 always seems to have such a wide variety of possible meanings depending on the context. For me it was allowing others to be what they want to be - acceptance. And especially accepting my own limitations. It also talks about relationships and activities based on truth not fakery or self-deception. Having a wider view on things that transcend our desires.

That's my two cents, Good luck with your writing!

Hex 22.1 you are only a beginner, so you must work really hard in order to make any headway. So, don't try to take short cuts or depend upon others.

Hex 22.3 basically it says don't get lazy or lose sight of your goal.

Hex 22.4 this is telling you not to go chasing after fame and fortune, keep your ambitions basic and simple, you will not be disappointed.

Hex 35 suggests that if you follow what hex 22.1,3,4 are telling you, then it is possible for you to make progress to becoming a qualified writer, use your gifts as you have some good ideas, and with any luck your writing abilities could well be noticed, so keep the faith and go to it.

Topal, Willowfox,
I thank you both for your input here. It is healpful and follows along with what I believed about the reading. I have a lot of time to work on this and believe you cannot push through any area of life and suceed if talent and qualification do accompany you in the move forward.

Imbue:

This is a different way of reading the Yi Jing, but see if any of it sounds like it fits what you're trying to learn from it:

22.1 Adorning your feet. Put away the chariot and go on foot --- Adorn yourself with courage. Leave behind notions of talent and success and get out of that vehicle and do it yourself.

52.3 Binding yourself through assigning restraints to your loins. Adversity smothers the heart. --- Let loose, and allow the writing to happen.

23.4 By stripping the bed, you cut into the flesh. The Way is closed. --- You're looking for the end before you've started. Art doesn't thrive in those circumstances.

This will lead you to 35 Prospering, stepping into the light....

Btw, Try Anne Lamott's Bird by Bird, an excellent book on writing.

Good luck,

Miakoda
