On Feb 24 I asked:

Russia invaded Ukraine yesterday. Prospects for Ukrainian victory in this war?
18.3 Work on what has been spoiled > 4 Youthful Folly
.3: Setting right what has been spoiled by the father. There will be a little remorse. No great blame.
A little remorse, no great blame. I think "a little" remorse is still a great deal of suffering, but compared to the worse possibilities, these readings say that the outcome will be much better than it might have been.

Today I asked:
What is going to happen to Ukraine in this conflict now?
12.5.6 Standstill > 16 Enthusiasm
.5: Standstill is giving way. Good fortune for the great man. "What if it should fail? What if it should fail?" In this way he ties it to a cluster of mulberry shoots.
.6: The standstill comes to an end. First standstill, then good fortune.

It seems like this war is actually close to coming to an end... the Ukrainians and world community (that grouping is the Enthusiastic one) need to be very careful and firm right now (.5), but if they are, then things are going to come to a (relatively) not-nearly-as-bad-as-it-could-be conclusion fast.

Hello liquidity,

I am very new to I ching interpretations but i think first reading is interesting in the sense that Lenin is always referred to as father of Russia, and Putin "blamed" Lenin for giving Ukraine statehood within USSR at the beginning of this war. Maybe it is Putin trying to set right "what is spoiled by father" and get the Ukraine back to Russia. And to my understanding hex 4 can mean success after bearing hardship. That can be Ukranian people resisting bravely and ultimately leading to victory despite all the pain suffered now. Or perhaps it is about Russian leader who is foolishly ignoring rest of the world and his own people in this matter.

I agree with your take on the casts.

18.3: there will be relatively little destruction.

12.5.6: after a time of holding back the parties communicate. Makes me think of Russia-Ukraine talks, Ukraine hadn't agreed with that initially but does now.

Or maybe Ukraine's efforts to set right what had been spoiled by Putin leads to being in a position where they are without prior experience? Maybe after ending the conflict they still must negotiate the peace?

Stability can be reached stemming from the attention that is being brought to the corruption of this situation.
18.3 - A victory is possible but requires resolute strong action, on many fronts, against all they face, and will involve going against how they have managed similar threats in the past.
Today I asked:

12.5.6 Standstill > 16 Enthusiasm

There will be huge disruptions to their world that need to be faced in new ways. Especially, through calling deeply on their ancestral qualities and strengths they will reach an eventual place of peace. This will come only at a pace that is in accordance with how well the Ukrainian people can adapt to new ways of tailoring how they live now.
12.5 - Line 5 is a position that reveals the way forward to overcome the hinderance being faced. It aligns well with the image of 12 that points towards adopting new ways to avoid calamities.
12.6 - A call for perseverance and the correct approach adopted to bring the hinderance to a conclusion. Then, and only through the culmination of right efforts will their be cause to rejoice.

Perhaps. Perhaps not. The conflict that Ukraine is in now may well require a period of getting worse before it gets better.

... of course it may mean nothing like this at all for you.

Take Care.

As a 40-mile-long Russian convoy nears Kyiv, I asked again: what happens to Ukraine now?

15.3.4 Modesty > 16 Enthusiasm
.3: A superior man of modesty and merit carries things to conclusion. Good fortune.
.4: Nothing that would not further modesty in movement.

If anyone embodies the spirit of the 'superior' person of 'modesty and merit,' it is no doubt the Ukrainian people. A third favorable reading, then, for them. Intense pain and work, but 16 arises again just as in the 12.5.6 reading above.

In March 2023 I asked “What will be happening in Ukraine this spring and summer?” 48 3.6 59. I didn’t understand back then but then occupants blew up Kakhovka dam. I’m still hoping for good fortune from line 6…
sometimes hexagrams are so literal.
I also asked what will be happening at nuclear power plant in Zaporizzhia and got 31 4. 39. Seems to describe Ukraine asking international organizations to intervene after the intel about mining of the plant.
