*basic* human emotions and the IC

fear - earth
sadness - mountain
rejection - water
anticipation - wind
surprise - thunder
acceptance - fire
love (sex) - lake
anger - heaven

refinements mean we get 'respect' from anger, devotion from fear, discernment from sadness/grief etc etc etc

Wow Kevin!

I've often described my relationship with my beloved like this:

It is as though, coming together as two complete and independent beings, we create together a vessel which is filled (from where? - I don't know) with love. As long as we keep the vessel intact, we can share that love around as generously as we like - it will always be replenished.

"The Cauldron - Supreme good fortune" - certainly feels that way to me!

I also note that many commentaries speak of sacrifice and that seems appropriate to me as well.

And here's Jay Ramsay's poem for Hex.50 (from I Ching: The Shamanic Oracle of Change by Martin Palmer, Jay Ramsay & Zhao Xiaomin):

Offering Up

And can you let it go?
Can you let it be beyond you?
Can you offer it up?

It is hidden in your heart, and your heart knows
This is the sacrifice, and you are it.

Feel it. And it is burning
With the clear flame we call love
That burns off what doesn't belong to it.

Feel it and it is a jewel
It is the most precious thing you have.

And it is yours - because you gave it.

The flame burns rose in your mind, like wine.

It is the best you have, and you gave it. Can you?

Like I said, Kevin: Wow!

Love,

Shelley

hex 50, interpreted from emotions reflects acceptance (fire) in the context of anticipation (wind). Thus application of fire in a context of anticipation reflects transformation, cooking the 'raw' to make it acceptable (or we anticipate it will be acceptable). As such the focus is on expectations rather than 'now'. Wind overall reflects cultivation and becoming influencial... but the negative side is the expectation of dissapointment, of betrayal, and so any trust must be earned over time, it is not given unconditionally and it is even rooted in monitoring others to ensure they conform to requirements - and so wind also reflects auditors, umpires, CEOs, supervisors etc etc where the anticipation is on someone making a mistake and so in need of supervision - which takes us into the concept of cultivation etc etc and being 'accepted'.

The fire trigram reflects acceptance, of becoming one of the 'gang' in the form of sharing with, adopting and using, an ideology - thus with wind comes the idea of cooking the 'raw' to be 'refined'. All within the bounds of the fire is 'same' - ash ;-)

Apply five-phase mappings and 50 reflects distribution within a context of RE-production, again a focus on, an anticipation of, a time span where to distribute, to work 'wholesale' requires cooking prior to distribution.

Well Kevin, it only seems appropriate.

In Spanish we have a saying that goes like this:

El amor se gana por la boca

Literally means that love is gained thru the mouth. Which means that if you impress your partner with good cooking you may gain his/her heart.

A Cauldron seems like a good start!

hey kev that's nice. ......50.6 to 32. wow. .....that's what the i ching told me about the young lama and me... and i sure did love him ......but it didnt work out.... it was one of those things where you just understood the other person and dint need to talk. complete contentment, even when he came to my little room to wash his socks. it was like bliss. but really practical. cant explain it. you know, i loved him, but could have kicked him out of my room any time and he would just come back the next day. gosh i loved him so much. lost my boyfriend cause of him. oh well guess i just feel like talking. anyway, that was my 50.6 to 32.

Kevin ? Interesting Q&A.

Just a couple thoughts from the hip:

Handles on the ting provide:
Portability,
Extends its usefulness,
Promotes survival of species (procreation).

Jade (handles) provide:
Refined sexuality (intimacy),
Embraces ceremony,
Imparts sacred beauty.

A meal cooked with love is twice as delicious and nourishing.

Hi Folks

It is so perfect isn?t it? ? surprised me? never saw that before.

Chris ? Nice one (two) Thanks

Tash ? Such a lovely poignant tale - I felt the Warmth / peace/ acceptace / longing... loss.

I have a love a little like that now ? It will never come to fruit ? but every moment is a peaceful longing; acceptance; joy and sadness? can?t explain, neither can she... but we don't have to... wouldn?t miss it. Such sharing!

Now to the foodies ;) ? Yup? it is food indeed!
