As you may or may not know. I'm new to the I Ching, and I find it fascinating. I've been going back and forth whether or not to start learning it seriously or let it be.

So I thought, why not ask the oracle?

My question: What if I learn to use the I Ching? What might it lead to?

And I got 62.6 turning into 56.

I'd love to get your feedback on this. Even though I'm a newbie, I'm going to try my hand at this and share my interpretation:

The first one, 62, tells me to take small steps, but don't expect miracles. But it is worthwhile to take it in small steps. Don't overreach or go against my nature. It tells me to become more grounded. Take my big dreams (aspirations) and focus on taking small steps in the here and now.

It could also be that the I Ching may be useful in small affairs, but maybe not in bigger ones, at least for now.

Then we have the changing line:

‘Not meeting at all, going past it.
Flying bird leaves.
Pitfall, rightly called calamity and blunder.’

I'm not sure if this might point to the fact that it's a passing thing for me, which might end in calamity/blunder.

Then we have the relating hexagram 56.

The traveller is on a journey of his own, just passing through this place and staying for a while. To be the traveller means you are not at home here – you know you don’t belong.

This again points to this being a passing thing, and that I might not "belong here."

It says to be true to myself while using the I Ching, which can be a tough balance.

But it also says:

‘Traveller, creating small success.
Travelling, constancy brings good fortune.’

Which points again to taking small steps and being consistent might bring good fortune.

In general I'm getting the feel that it's ok but take it easy, could also just forget about it?

You asked two questions, and I have rephrased.

If I learn to use the I Ching, what might it lead to?
62.6 > 56

I've been going back and forth whether or not to start learning it seriously or let it be.

Once you are fascinated by the Yi, you do not have this option. Its study becomes an obsession. As the Judgment of 62 says;

It is not well to strive upward,
It is well to remain below.
Great good fortune.

If you can't handle it, don't pick it up. Line 6. is inauspicious:

He passes him by, not meeting him.
The flying bird leaves him.
Misfortune.
This means bad luck and injury.

I understand this as you have not yet encountered the spirit of the book. Unless you do, you will be wasting your time. I have spent 40 years at it and have found it rewarding, but I do not claim that I have learned to used the I Ching. Rather, I have learn slightly how to let it use me.

Henri and I have chatted by email a bit, and agreed that this is not a good time for him to start getting interested in readings. Sometimes for some people, for a variety of reasons, it just isn't helpful. I think his question is a really, really good one to ask.
