What if we moved abroad? 33.5->56

I have dual nationality with a country I've never lived in nor seriously considered moving to. No family or close friends are left there. However, it's also English-speaking and offers excellent, afforable healthcare and a better housing market. My husband and I are currently in the US facing a massive monthly bill for health insurance (premiums + deductible will be greater than 1/3 of our total yearly income when we make the forced switch). Between that and the cost of renting or buying where we live, and the tumultuous political landscape...we are trying to figure out if moving abroad makes sense. It seems pie in the sky (not many jobs open in our fields there) but maybe worth at least looking into.

I asked Yi:

What if we pursue moving there? 33.5 -> 56

56 showing makes me think that the oracle is indeed commenting clearly on a possible move, but the 33.5 is puzzlingly vague. Is Yi saying we should retreat from the idea? Or...retreat from this troubled country through a move?

I'm not sure anyone else can answer this, either, but I'm interested if anyone has thoughts on my question and the response.

Thank you!

That was also the first question I asked myself when I read your posting. I think only you can figure that out with your own intuition and experience, as you have already indicated, both are likely. But because of the relating Hexagram 56 I would almost tend to the second from my outside perspective. Particularly when you feel unhappy at your current place and the idea of moving feels like a relief to you.

33.5-56. Sounds like it’s at least worth exploring!

Here's what Hilary wrote in WikiWing in the "Name" section for 33 - it does have a "retreat to safety" aspect:

Retreat, Withdrawal. A suckling pig and 'go' - see LiSe[1]. Maybe running away to avoid being eaten, maybe running after what you need to sustain you. Either way the idea is self-preservation: defending against the risk of losing yourself.

Following the link to the hexagram 33 page on LiSe's site, she has named 33, "Save your bacon" after the piglet imagery - and here is her page where she explains more about that.

So that's your motivation, what you're looking to do, but I also think Rosada has hit a nail on the head:
33.5-56. Sounds like it’s at least worth exploring!

Hexagram 56 is about "travelling through," not "moving to." It's definitely not about moving somewhere and settling down in the new place - I think "exploring" is a very good word here. What you're probably doing at this stage is "exploring the idea of a retreat to safety."

You're thinking of doing this to save money, so I wonder if a point is to make sure you'd actually be better off. For instance you said the job prospects aren't great. And (I'm guessing) a country with national health care probably has much higher taxes along with it. So you'll probably want to nail down some dollar figures about that, too.

(Another very random thought based on knowing absolutely nothing about any of this - is there any chance your dual citizenship would allow you to go to the other country just for health care? In other words, could you just stop paying for it here, and then if you need something major, go to the other country for it? Is there any such loophole? That might - theoretically - be a way of combining "save your bacon" with "sojourning." It might also be ridiculous, I don't know.)
