Given everything that is coming out in the media about Hillary Clinton/her associates and all of the outrageous things Trump says, I have to wonder- what is going to happen when either of them become President?

Question: "What is Happening to Our Country?"
- Hexagram 61.3.4.6-43

In my view, I think these hexagrams are very logical, let see:
hex 61: loyalty- US will focus on its value as in the past:economy growing, etc. Means US will be stronger;
hex 43: Too strange - something will be too good, even over, in the road of US.
Consider 3 activated lines:
line 3: friends change so much (good and bad, both);
line 4: documents - means many new laws and many ol laws will be changed.
line 6: role - the role of US in the world changes drasmatically.

Well here in the UK I think I can say it is widely regarded as a world catastrophe and whatever possessed the American people to vote this clown in is ...well no one understands how they could do it ? I know I don't ! I am absolutely disgusted with the UK Prime Minister who appears to be crawling up Trump's backside. She should have had the stance of Angela Merkel who let her feelings be known.

What is happening ? Pure disaster isn't it ? What else can it be. What is Yi saying here ? I have no idea. I don't think the I Ching is a whole lot of use for political questions frankly. The whole point of the I Ching is to guide us in our actions. So if we ask what we need to do politically it is useful but just asking what will happen...how can that be any use to you or me or anyone ? I'm not saying don't ask, you can ask what you like...but I couldn't make up anything about this reading. It's kind of like asking what would happen after Hitler came to power...

[And as evidence that life continues...Trojina and I are cross-posting :D]

Looking at this as we're taught in the Foundations course, and looking at Hilary's take on the lines, this seems like a comforting reading, I think (thank goodness).

61's 43 - "a decision's inner truth" as the framework of the answer. This was an election; it reflects the electorate's voice. [Edited - I think I got that backwards. 61 zhi 43, "inner truth's decision," "the 'speaking/deciding' of inner truth" - regardless, I think the hexagrams are pretty much simply saying "we had an election."]

Where are we within that?

61.3
'Gaining a counterpart.
Maybe drumming, maybe resting.
Maybe weeping, maybe singing.'

When there are "counterparts" - an active contest or rivalry, as in a campaign - it feeds on itself and perhaps seems worse than it is and worse than it will be once the competition is over. Hilary talks about "extremes" and "exaggerated emotions" - maybe some of Trump's excesses will be left on the campaign trail.

61.4
'The moon almost full,
A horse’s yoke-mate runs away.
No mistake.'

Not sure what this means, unless it's very obvious and very simple: "moon almost full" - election almost over. "Yoke-mate runs away" - one candidate leaves, one remains. Perhaps in the context of your question and line 3, two "horses" "pulling" the "campaign-wagon" make it go twice as fast and twice as furiously, which isn't necessarily good, sustainable, or reflective of reality. (I wonder if two actual horses pulling the same wagon ever get into contests with each other, if given their heads?) Also, campaigns are referred to as "horse races."

61.6
'Cockcrow rises to heaven.
Constancy, pitfall.'

It's all been just a lot of words and bluster, which don't and won't make the sun rise or have a lot of effect in the real world?

In other words, when Trump has to get down to the serious, day-in day-out business of governing the country, his campaign persona will settle? (We can hope...)

Well yes, but would Yi have said the same thing about Hitler? I mean, this is Yi's answer, not something MHolden made up.

Of course interpretation is a whole other kettle of fish. I've had more than one utterly dismal interpretation experience just in the last week, so I have perishingly little confidence in it at the moment.
