Hello community,
it is the first time that I turn to a forum to understand a consultation. I'm doing it because this question is really crucial for me. I'm sure I will receive valuable insights here.

My question came as a sudden light accompanied by a profound sense of presence at that moment. And so I asked Yi:

What is the purpose of my life? My task on this planet and for this planet?

12.4.6> 8

Unite in communication?
Communicate with my inner God?
Bringing togetherness and concord?

These are my first analyzes, but I would like your opinion, it is too important not to think about it with other people (oops! Another meaning of the launch ?!)

Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

F.

I don't believe we should limit and define our lives too much with the notions of 'my task on this planet'. I mean you are part of the planet, a living breathing part, you don't necessarily have a defined 'task'. You have a role just like the trees and the horses do in being trees and horses but I find the idea of a 'life task' just rather grand and hard to measure up to. I'm not saying you are grandiose just that the ideas behind 'what is my life purpose' kind of stuff can be however I do empathize with that feeling of 'well what am I meant to do here ?'...hmmm so you got 12.4.6>8.

I think the 12 might in part represent the very idea behind the question that people are born and then 'tasked'. 12 as in no real intercourse between heaven and earth, a time for small people and it could be is the small person's idea in the sense that each life is part of nature, we grow we learn , we suffer and we know we don't know an awful lot about what it all means. Perhaps it is 'small'* ideology that we must be tasked and it's all like a giant employment agency where good workers get credit and bad workers don't. It isn't like that at all. So I think perhaps Yi is kind of saying it isn't how you think it is, this idea you have of your own task in life as somehow separate from you and something you have to 'do' is false, it's a dead end, not going anywhere. But what is going somewhere is you, you in your very being transcend any task you might do.

Line 4 is a mysterious one and I think it says basically 'hey you're having a hard time with this and that's just how it's meant to be, it's not wrong or out of the scheme of things that you are suffering in not knowing where to place yourself. So that is a consolation, more than a consolation because it says in that blockage, that very blockage you experience of not knowing what to do lies good fortune, it's a good thing. The line also says 'there is a mandate' so that's direct assurance you have a mandate of some kind despite what I said at the beginning. Line 6 shows a time when the stuckness you feel passes and you become clear about where you belong (8) and you actively choose to belong there.

Because of the 8 I think part of the way through this difficult time, which I think you must endure as it's part of your process (12.4), will be to realise this is not so much about your own life task but far more a question of 'where do I belong/what do I belong with/what is natural for me to join with'. You will get through this impasse by letting your own nature be true to itself (8) by following and joining with what you naturally feel drawn to. So this isn't a case of looking 'out there' to find your cue for your purpose but simply noticing where you naturally flow, where you are naturally drawn and this can often be found by noticing what you are spending a lot of time doing right now.

It's a really nice reading and line 6 assures you of the freedom eventually to make your way through what might seem like a very 'stuck' time. Change patterns are 35 and 5 again emphasising the wish to progress tempered by the need to wait.

* just to emphasize when I use the word 'small' it's because it's said in 12 'small arrives great departs' and I mean 'small' here in the sense of being separate from the big flow of the subject matter, having smaller goals one of which might be the very idea there's a specific task one must do. There is likley a much broader way to see things and in your reading that comes through the 8. I'm just saying this to make sure you don't take my use of the word 'small' as a personal comment

Hello Fortuny,

and I also think that the Yi will give you more of a picture of your situation in a whole, and it is your situation which made you ask that question. It is, as the relating hexagram 8 says, probably your Intention to connect with the planet, find out where you belong to. And 12, the answer, points at a disconnection, a blocked Situation, maybe even isolation. So if I had this reading I would take it as an advice of how to find through that.

So with 12.4 there is a point with what you are actually doing or coming through - I agree with Trojina. And 12.6 might also advise you to break free of some circumstances, thoughts or behaviour patterns, which should be easy enough to get rid of. Then you'll find the right ways.

Don't forget that you don't have to think about your tasks for the whole planet - maybe just for some people!

All the best.

Hello Fortuny!

Good question:
What is the purpose of my life? My task on this planet and for this planet? 12.4.6> 8
The planet is in no good conditions (12): "Wilhelm/Baynes: ...The great departs; the small approaches." Many issues are being neglected: "Liu: Heaven and earth are not united, symbolizing stagnation." Be like the superior man who "restrains himself to avoid danger. He seeks neither honor nor wealth."
Work determinedly for changing the state of the world (12.4) by removing blockages and gathering people(12.6) to unite (8) for your cause.

Good luck!

Dear Trojina and Mandarine,
your translations are so consistent with my feeling that I was moved to read them. Thanks! Now the message is so clear and glaring!

I will explain you better, to make sense of it also for others who will read.

My question arose spontaneously in a very difficult moment of transition for me. But I'll do it again. Life takes place in cycles, this does not scare me, rather I welcome it with joy. But the other day I really wondered what I'm doing wrong. Why do I always question my condition? I did it at work, a long process not yet concluded: I study at the university even though I am no longer a girl, but my desire is to be a psychotherapist. So I'm training in this sense and I know I'll make it.
Then ... and here we come to the point: my love life. I am married and I want to separate. It is difficult because my husband would not want it, my family hinders me and it seems to me to live a life that is not mine. I can't accept it, but in practice I'm doing it, in spite of myself. I know that I will also take this step, but meanwhile the wait for my reactions will continue. The time of life runs through my hands, every day that passes I experience it as a day stolen from happiness. This is how my question came about. Am I wrong about my choices? What is my purpose? Do I have a mission on this planet?

Now I realize, thanks to you, that the question was grandly reductive. It's true: we are here to be. It is the process of learning to live. Yi seems to have given me a caress. Hearing a specific task is a boulder on my back, but Yi took it from me. In other words: it's not easy, but it's all here. And for everything, it means being part of the planet with one's own being. And I'm not a plant, I'm a living individual. What I want for me is to be what I am, to find myself and to live fully, thanks also to this.

Rightly the reading gives me 8: to reach and belong to one's individual nature. It is what I am doing even choosing to distance myself from those who do not resemble me and do not love my true nature. He loves a nature of me that, however, is his, imagined and functional to his purposes. The aims, precisely.

I am reminded of a song that says "it's nothing, it's not forever. Your failing diploma is a degree to react."

What a beautiful reading, you are right. Many thanks to you for helping me understand it.

Best wishes,
Fortuny

Dear Marybluesky,
what an interesting reading.
True, the planet is not well placed. It is the topic of these days and I am very sensitive about it. I made a change in my daily choices, I want to be as ecological as possible and I'm implementing it. The incredible thing is that these days I received the offer to work on the theme of my company's environment. I have accepted, of course!
