What is the truth about my relationship with X?

I was most interested in seeing if there's something negative going on here because given the circumstances it could go either way. I wanted to see what the Yi would say.

My interp is that the YI doesn't see anything negative here. It looks like some obstacles (which is true) but OK overall. Nothing I should worry about.

Do you agree?

39 often crops up for me when the situation, or more importantly, my own experience of it, needs to be shifted. Imagine your wandering down a river valley, a metaphor for the journey of this relationship. Imagine then that along the way there are large billboards with specific memories, or thought processes, that keep cropping up. you walk by, confident that these are in the past and your moving towards a new destination. Imagine then that you reach an impasse. there are three large mountains, one in front, and one at either side. The only way out is to turn around, and trace your footsteps, or thought processes, back to an earlier time in the relationship.

The obstruction could be in your head, something that hasnt been dealt with and so is forcing a full stop (52) to the relationship, or it could be that their is a mutual obstruction that needs to be dealt with. I would go with the idea that the Iching is talking directly to your thought processes of the matter at hand. Is there a recurring negative thought pattern that you associate with this relationship? It may have nothing to do with the person in question. Sometimes these billboards show much older images of things that have nothing to do with the present, but which are effecting the situation all the same.

I think the current obstruction is causing you to take in your entire life at the moment. All facets of your life are now being processed. I get this as lofting has 39>52 by way of 20. 20 is the overview. when in 20 your looking at the big picture, where all the facets of your existence come into focus. In 20 you have a moment to take in all the different elements of your life, and judge them clearly.

I would ask a follow on question from this casting. For the moment, i would ask a question specifically regarding the obstruction you have, not the obstruction of the relationship in general. I would ask something like, 'please clarify the nature of my internal obstruction?' or something along those lines.

The obstruction isn't all in my head. Some of it may be though. That's true. I just wanted to know if the Yi saw anything negative here. I would say that it doesn't and your comments seem to confirm that, no?

You are being asked to wait while you work through things with him..
Depending on whats going on in your relationship.. just the fact you are working through the obstructions itself could be the good fortune indicated itself. Dont focus on whether its negative or positive but do whats needs to be done because you are being directed so..

If your looking for a positive or negative answer, your not gonna get that in the I Ching. Growth is the operative word.

Obstructions sometimes can just be annoying, like a piece of flint stuck inside your shoe.

at any rate, you need to find out what the obstruction is to remove it.
