Hi everybody,

20.5 Subjective?

I've been too long without job security (years). Eventually, I've had temp jobs, but inconsequential.

Although I've worked in the public sector and in multinational companies, as economist or programmer, my skills aren't always enough for the job. 'Jack of all trades, master of none'. :brickwall:

Nevertheless, I've often explained or helped to coworkers. I'd say my personality (Pisces-Libra) is too helpful,.

When I was married, I had to make money, and
also helped her with her business. (economist for the
morning, massage therapist for the afternoon).

20.6 Objective?

I've worked as an economist, a programmer, a massage therapist, an administrative assistant, a computer repair technician, and I've some experiences as a teacher, a comuniEty manager, a coach ( cheering and bring out feelings, rather)... But I don't know what should I adjust now, with the economic crisis.

Or maybe 20.6 is "to ask for help"??

(A few months ago, I asked what my true
purpose in life? 31.1.5> 55. Is this related?)

Thank you for your answers. :)

p.s. I hope you understand me, because I'm a non-native speaker.

Hexagrams 20 and 2? In my view, this spells and reiterates the need to practise the art of non-doing.

Michael Graeme on 20:

"Contemplation describes a situation of looking, of observing without acting in order to acquire the right perspective. It is seeing the big picture with a sense of detachment, waiting in perfect stillness like the heron in the lakeside reeds, waiting for things to emerge. It is divining the essential meaning in what we see. Careful contemplation and examination will bring the required insight. Then the way will open and carry
us through.

From the detached perspective of the mountain top, we can clearly see the routes we followed to reach this point. Also the future directions we can take become visible.

The suggestion is that of a moment of crucial insight that we might learn from if only we can grasp its meaning. We must remain open and free of blinding emotion and ambition. The way that is right may not be the one we want to see and so it will remain hidden from us like the lesser trodden way that falls into disuse, while the more frequented paths stand out.

Fate is at work here. If we are properly receptive, then there is much we can learn from this situation that will ultimately guide us further along our path."

Changing lines speak (to me) of the work yet to be accomplished, in relation to both our inner and outer world, before we can become truly receptive to what unfolds next (2). By all means, dance with the Creative, but do not lead.

By the sound of it, I am in a very similar position to yours: the old job (a mere means to end) is coming to an end, and there's no new job on a horizon. I know I want to make my living in a creative way. I also know I need to make a living. What to do, what to do?..... Well, today's answer, just like yesterday's, and the day's before, is nothing. Let's see what happens when I don't just react, but choose to respond.

Good luck, and - I would've never guessed you weren't a native English speaker you know. :)

Just an immediate impression, it looks like an arbitrator of some sort. Not many people have the skill to be subjective and objective at the same time. A Councilor or arbitrator should be able to feel, see and understand what someone (the subject) feels and thinks, and also be able to shift into seeing the whole picture. Actually, many jobs or positions would benefit from such a skill set as this, from a salesperson, an attorney, a guidance councilor, career councilor. In this case, you appear to be your very first client, which is especially challenging.

Another impression: try sitting and relaxing, eyes closed, and let your mind find a vision of you doing something as a career function that fills you with a sense of satisfaction. It's not so much what you are in the vision, your title and such, as much as what you see yourself doing. That is your bliss. Then it's a matter of finding the opening (2) where your bliss can be employed. It may or may not be a prestigious position, it doesn't matter since it is not what you are but what you are doing that brings satisfaction. Then practice seeing yourself doing it. That should lead you to opportunities and attract those opportunities to you.

Hi, Grant Heart

Thank you very much for your interpretation!!! :bows:

My question was what kind of profession or
orientation ...?

But when answer was "Stop,... meditate and observe", I thought "What?? I should be more proactive, shouldn't I?". :duh:

But you're right: After divorce, I've made some passive changes (20), both internal (20.5) and external (20.6). Now, I had to adapt and be more receptive (2).

I hope you get to see the "fish in water" (opportunity). Best wishes.

Sam

p.s. jaja. Yes, my english is basic (I find phrases with many results in google, and i add "co.uk". Slowly but surely, I hope), and my nick is a clue!!, :stir:

Hi, Sooo

Wow, It seems so fantastic. *I don' t know what to think.

I want to be like Mahatma Gandhi, but something stops me, ...attachment to the family?

I would like to be an employer to hire people with good attitudes that , for whatever
reason , are unemployed. But I haven't had experience or money. :bag:

This exercise is of "Law of Atraction", isn't it ? :bows:
My passion is helping others, but I can't give free rein to it why I attract abusive people. :(

How to stop attracting abusive people and continue to help?

12.4.6>8 Jaja, "Blocking it to join", without imposing my (or theirs) will (12.4), and clarity and perseverance (12.6)

What does it seem to you ? Em?

Thank you so much. Best wishes.

Hi Sam :)

First, 20 - lines 5 and 6 can very well be an image of management or leadership, even a visionary or entrepreneur. But the thing to visualize is not the position or title but to see yourself actually doing it in a very real and actual scenario.

The visualization technique for finding suitable employment was recommended to me by a realtor who was representing the sale of our house, many years ago, long before Law of Attraction was coined. The book is called Psycho Cybernetics, and while it sounds new age-y actually is a goal seeking device, but in this case the ship you're guiding toward your desired destination is within your mind. However the principle is the same as the Law of Attraction. In my case it worked almost magically, though the journey to it was fraught with storms and delays. No one said it's easy to find your bliss in a career, though in some cases it seems to happen by itself. Your 12-8 depicts this quite well, starting from a standstill or separating force (such as abusive people and companies) to joining with a group you naturally hold together with. But it is a cyclic phenomenon, so you really have to work at keeping it together once you find it. Just use your Gandhi perseverance ;).

Thanks again, sooo!!!:bows::bows::bows:

Yes, I've helped so many people, I love it. But I don't seek to be famous and i don't have money on my mind.

I see myself on it, if they don't affect me. If I can strike a balance (between professional and family life).

"But it is a cyclic phenomenon, so you really have to work at keeping it together once you find it" - sooo

Law of Rhythm: Shakespeare called it the "tide in men's affairs". The energy in the universe is like a pendulum, ... so we sow in the increase (42) for we reap in the decrease (41).

I just got the book today, thanks!!! Namasteeeeeeee.

Sam

p.s. I've had problems because I've forgotten to log out. Mental note: outtt!!! :duh:

Thanks for your feedback, Sam.

Love your Shakespeare quote and analogy!

I hope you enjoy and benefit from the book. It's old for a contemporary but a classic, imo.

One of the most difficult things in attaining what we want is knowing what we want, in no vague terms. The techniques in the book can help us to define what we really want.

As an ex Navy navigator, I also appreciated the very real efficiency factor of frequent small course adjustments, as opposed to infrequent wide and sweeping course reforms.

Best wishes with your career path.

aligning your abilities and desires

You seem to be very versatile, with many talents and abilities. All to the good, but sometimes making it more difficult to decide what to do. Casting these hexagrams is a good step in that direction,

Hexagram 20 might be considered "Perspective," a time for impartial self-observation and consideration.

The Pathfinder I Ching online, which I like for observations about business, describes lines 5 and 6:

Line 5:

Periodic self-examination is necessary to prevent inferior elements from arising within ourselves. These forces are often the hardest to deal with, and present the most powerful obstacles to our efforts. These elements can easily pervert one's attempts to improve a situation, rendering them detrimental instead. Periodic self-examination helps expose such warping of our attitudes, and allow us to correct our conduct as needed, much like the course corrections a boat undergoes, to cope with changing wind and current.

Line 6

You can expect others to observe you even as you observe them. If you would have them allow you to make judgments in their behalf, you must yourself first be judged by them as being capable of such a task. This means your motives and actions must be above reproach. So you must make them so.

This feels to me like finding the balance between what you feel would be your best path and what you know you can do well enough to make a living. Not always the same thing.

I like the book, Psycho-cybernetics, recommended by Sooooo, for finding a way to align your desires with the realities of your life, to help you find a way to make your dream job your real job.

There are hundreds if not thousands of books and workshops to help people succeed, but none more effective than this one. My library has a copy of the new edition: The New Psycho-Cybernetics, and perhaps yours does too.

Best wishes, sevilla_spain

Good suggestion, Soooooo. :pompom::pompom::pompom:Watching Maxwell Maltz now on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfVWWX2s7KE

"Psycho-cybernetics means steering your mind to a productive useful goal."

Who doesn't need to be reminded of this every single day?

Thank you all!!!

Hi, Sooo-- I started to read the book and It's very interesting for me. On the other hand, my problem was I didn't see "the help" as work, I saw it as a labour. Now, with the help of you guys and the book, I'm splitting hairs and find a suitable job to use my skills. Also, you're right, small steps make big changes :bows::bows::bows: You can use what you've got or bring out the best in you (61), but you don't want to be as "a goat butts against a hedge" (34.6, Law of Correspondence). Yes, I could log out. And, of course, I'll post again if I've a job. Thanks for all!!" :)

Hi, Poised-- "Know what to do" is "the lamb's mother (the essence)", ;). Up until now, I've been influenced for many people: "we need money", don't worry, I've high wages jobs... and it's over. But I'm an overachiever and I enjoy when I explain something or it's teamwork or (in some way) they depend on me. If I've understood you, whith perspective (20), I find the right one, resolving fears and insecurities or self-sabotage (20.5) and showing my skills (20.6) (sometimes, I lose my reputation when I become involved in a situation involving a conflict of interest, and they're not mine).Thank you very much!!! :bows::bows::bows:

Hi, Pocossin--Perhaps it's a literal translation, but accurate. It's true that computer programming is used in robotics, but I know nothing about it. But it gave me an idea: "drones" in star wars. Soldiers observe "The Art of War" (20), while they await orders (2). They have a severe code of conduct (20.5), and win medals of honor (20.6). I imagined it as chief commander Zhou Yu in Battle of Red Cliff or as a samurai warriors. Is it right? It isn't for me, of course.

Best wishes :hugs:

Well, I just wanted to give an update. I haven't gotten a job yet, but I've been working two weeks over allegations, in a civil complaint, of 12 persons :brickwall:. Curiously, the base of them has been a pleading to establish the correct jurisdiction, on adjoining land, as Pocossin predicted :bows::bows::bows: (Cartography, Google Aerial View on Google Maps, coastal law or mountain law?,...). Objectively, I had to explain in detail why the sanction was unfair (with laws, personal advice from a lawyer, traditions,...). Subjectively , I got the group together and told the officers, in Environment Agency. :stir:

Had I Ching been successful?, Yes.
Did I work hard?, Yes.
Did I earn money? Nothing at all, I'm flat broke,... to avoid lost, I hope so.

It's not the first time this has happened to me with I Ching: Answer is literal, that isn't wrong, but a malformed question, :duh:. So my next question is: What will my next "paid" job be, pleaseee? 2.2>7

Sell fields to the army?
Flow of troopers? Military draft?
Receptive discipline? Teacher or Instructor?
Bearer of willpower? Coach or community manager?
Submission to the army? Soldier or civil assistant of the army?

Anyway, I don't worry about it, because 2.2 It'll be a job which I'll do what comes naturally, something which I'm used to do.

Reflections

- Here was me thinking that Tarot, Astrology and others divinations are the art of telling the future, while I Ching shows how the oracle relates the human condition. But if I wrote this thread on May 10th, 2014 and we received the letter on May 19th, 2014, I can only suggest that "the methods of divination" help you develop your own intuition. So intuition can encompass the ability to know valid solutions to "future problems" and I Ching reflect them. Am I wrong?

- Another thought is that I believe our destiny is fixed. But it would be as favourable as possible with the advice,. This complies with the principles of the I Ching, the Tao:

At times, the superior man develop (1) according to his own being, who is meant to be(61), while in others may flow over the circumstances (29). Not so?

-I also think it should be a natural answer to the situation. It couldn't be "drones" because I know nothing about them, but I could use "aerial views" to solve my "work". :)

Thanks all. Best wishes. :hugs:
