Hey everyone,

I just handed in my final assignment for college and I've spent the day applying for jobs. I have no real preference at the minute which area to search in, I'm looking at anything and everything as choice on my budget is a bit of a luxury at the moment, so I asked 'what kind of job should i be searching for?'

I suppose the larger question I was asking is what i'm most suited to as a career, I received 25 Unchanging.
Now I read this a few ways; Firstly, that Yi might be telling me to look for something in an unusual way, an 'unexpected' place? Secondly, this commentary I read seemed like it might be quite relevant:

''Thinking too much severs links with the guidance of the heart — namely, a clear intuition and strong guiding instincts. Be wary of courses of action that require too much cleverness.''

so something possibly that doesnt involve much analysing? Thats interesting, because I've been looking at jobs that would in some circles be considered a step down on the career front, cleaning, gardening, post worker jobs. Its something I'd like to do very much, as I've come to realise through experience that sitting in front of a computer all day is very bad for me psychologically and healthwise. My main concern is to have an active job that keeps me physically moving.

Finally I thought Yi might just be saying that I might be overthinking the whole thing. Maybe Yi is saying just to 'disentangle' my thought processes arund finding a job?

The trigrams are heaven over thunder. Im really not up to scratch on understanding the trigrams, but maybe they hold a clue too?

Thanks for reading!

Bests,

Yx

I agree with you here. I really don't think you are being advised for a type of job...I see 25uc as very much an unknown,,,see what happens , spontaneity. I'd think you need to stay disentangled from ideas about who you are or what you can do. Maybe be prepared to go along with what comes ? Oh ETA by that I don't mean settle for anything but you can be playful I think, and you can take unexpected opportunities and you can disentangle from the whole idea that your work defines you

I think 25 asks the question: what feels most natural for you to do? Do something related to that.

yup trojan, seems the most likely answer, although i'd never get intot he loop of finding my identity in the kind of work i do, sure i've had a fairly varied bunch of jobs up until this point, none of them to do with my passions, which i very much keep sepeate, of course in an ideal world it would be a job that involved some of my actual abilities, but in 2013 ireland that luxurious thought process doesnt enter the equation!

meng, yes, the most natural think to do, and the most natural thing will be to do with nature i think.A friend told me theyre looking for people to work in a garden centre not far from where i am...pretty natural huh! :)

Thanks both! hope ye are enjoying the summer :)

It's funny but I realised I always associate you with the colour green.....it's that synaesthesia thing. I'm realising I'm not only associating weekdays etc with a colour but people. So you are green, more of a sea green than a grass green so yup I think you will like the garden centre it will be a nice place to work in summer...plus there are always nice looking men working in garden centres around here..tanned earthy....muscular ;)

:bounce:

see he's not ashamed to be green....terrible shade though.

Just noticed your butterfly avatar is a greenish blueish hue...

Hi Yxeli,
You are on the right track and by being yourself the right opportunity will come your way.
I think the Yi is saying the type of job will be doing something you've never done before or have never considered as a profession. Probably as a neophyte benefiting from mentorship or apprenticeship.

25 unchanging.

Yx, go for sales. I know you are an artistic person as is Meng. Nevertheless, he made his mark in sales.

Sowing in the morning, sowing seeds of kindness,
Sowing in the noontide and the dewy eve;
Waiting for the harvest, and the time of reaping,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bringing_In_the_Sheaves

25 is an inverted (empty) basket carried to the fields for the harvest. You can do this. You have a powerful empathy. Customers will like you, and there is always an opening for a person who can sell.

Actually, it was a transmutation of the same creative skill set, but not nearly as self-indulgent. I went from writing and producing songs to writing and producing commercials, and in some case, jingles. What I sold were creative solutions, marketing plans. The difference was that I could support my family through the latter. :)

But I agree in that I can picture Yx having good people skills, and therefore being a sales consultant. But it would still be to her benefit if her heart is in it. I failed at several sales positions, because frankly, I didn't give a crap about what I was selling. It took a professional career therapist to show me myself without the long hair, shark's tooth earring, black tee, and an artist's attitude. I was shocked by what he showed me about myself that I was completely ignoring. I got a bit of that point from what you'd said too, regarding Yx's reading. There's all kinds of potential there. Sounds cliche by now (sorry Joe), but follow your bliss.

thanks guys,

Pocossin, It's funny oyu mention sales, I did sales for a year, telesales, and it turns out im quite good at persuasion, but my god was it the most soul destroying job, ringing people up and trying to sell them this useless product (it was an irish business search engine), there's plenty of telesales jobs going in ireland but no way would I ever touch that area again. I'd rather be a street sweeper then do that again, no joke.

meng you lucky duck. making music AND making money?!? who does that?? well done you. The competition for a jingle guy round here would be, i'd say, 200 broke musicians to 1 job every 10 years...even if that.. I know no-one who makes music for adverts in this country..i have a feeling that most of our adverts are siphoned in from the UK, with the simple change of an Irish actor doing V.O.

jesus, this countries ****ed.

today, i'm hitting Dublin Airport with a bunch of CV's, Dublin Airports very close to where I am, so please lord please!!! :)

BTW, Meng, if I had that much weed at my disposal i sure as hell wuldnt be toking up...that spliffs got to be worth at least a grand! (mind on my money yo):p

I don't know if you can travel while online, but in the interest of using any information from my experience, I share this. It wasn't quite like that. In fact, I never played on a single commercial I produced, and I sung only once: a four part acapella jingle, that I wrote for a pizza chain. But the money came from the advertising medium, which is a woman's game these days, btw. They practically own it in most small to medium markets. Big markets, it's anybody's game. But revenue streams came from the stations I represented. It was the creative commercial (creative is as creative does) that was half of the effectiveness, and I was as good as anyone at doing that, so instead of doing sessions for starving studio owners and artists, I did them to bring measurable increase into local business, in additional to the ad agencies. Most every media buyer I called on was a woman. Often called Media Queens, they were the gatekeepers to the available budget of their clients. It still eventually comes down to whether they like you or not, that determines if you're on the buy or not, or at least given an offer.

Just in case your destiny is to become a salesperson. Let's say you work in horticulture, there's still likely to be a sales person to sell; in fact, possibly several, by the time the consumer pays for it. Tom has a point. When you're creatively 100% invested in what you're doing, it's not work at all, it's bliss.

Travel safely.

Most likely. I went to New Zealand with the intention of consulting radio stations. When I eagerly turned the radio on, they put me to sleep. I wanted to shout, will someone there please wake up! Every business was the same way, except investment banking. My fast US tempo was way out of sync, to the point, I swear I thought I saw people walking backwards.
