What lesson do I need to learn from my continuing jobhunt which has been dominating my life these last years?

Last week I got fired from my job. It was a relieve actually, I couldn't find the motivation to keep performing in a hard-selling environment and I think it was written all over my face the last couple of months. I'll get good ref's, there's no bad blood between me and my employers, but still, the event of getting fired did have it's impact on me :s

Back when I quit school I didn't have a clue what I wanted from my professional life. Now that I'm past thirty I am finally starting to understand which way I want to take my career. I know I should go back to school if I want to make it happen, but my financial circumstances do not allow me to do that. I'll have to put my plans on hold for at least 3 years.

Ever since I dropped out of school I've been roller-coasting from one job to another, with some unexpected turns, sometimes making progress, sometimes falling back.

As a dear friend of mine pointed out to me last week, (with a jape) my job search has turned into something of an addiction to me. So I wonder what is the lesson I need to learn from all this? I got hex 61.5 -> 41

Browsing through the forum I found some interesting commentaries about this particular reading;

Samgirl says about his line;
61 talks about inner truth. We know what is going on, we can feel it and know what this feeling is telling us. Line 5 talks about genuine truth, we see things as they are, from within and out. This is a powerful force and it is what is needed to create external unity.

Trojan about the resulting 41:
41 is the background to the question....perhaps sacrifices have been made, what is not needed has been let go of in order that good things can enter. But anyway with only one changing line the meaning of that is paramount in the answer IMO

So I get the impression that I have had to make sacrifices in my professional life, always taking on jobs out of necessity. I got fired, so I lost the job that provided me of financial certainty. But now there is room in my life for something better, more suited for me. Through the process of all my jobs, all my job-interviews I am learning about myself and the inner truth I must find in order to become the person I know I can be.

I would like to point out that I only dabble with the Yi, I don't have any books are other references, just this awesome website, to which I return almost daily, since 2 years, for learning and finding peace of mind. So all insights are much appreciated, as always!

He possesses truth, which links together.

No lesson to learn, you already know what is to be known

You assume to much to quickly. Circumstances put me where I am in life right now; I am proud of what I achieved today, certainly given my background. It takes courage to go for what one really wants in life and despite many setbacks I continue to believe in myself and my potential. Your comment makes me feel like I've been put in this little square with a stamp on my forehead: 'Underearner'. Perhaps your comment angers me because there's some truth to be found. But... I would still be working as a laborer in some factory today if I would have bowed my head to the advice of teachers & parents back when I quit school. Despite my uncertainties I push on, and sometimes that means letting go.

hi - myladythunder - the process of being fired or leaving jobs frequently is the consequence of taking whatever is out there - in order to pay the bills. I saw a thread near this one about needing
to provide for oneself during periods of further study. Since most people have to pay their own way
to acquire extra qualifications good money forecasting and handling skills are paramount. Most students are learning this today - there is no judgement in what I say just that whenever I hear
someone say they are in a pressured hard sell environment I am hearing they dont love their work.

In my holistic counselling I encourage people to do what they love - we usually have to look at
their relationship with money to do that. Do not take it personally there is too little for me to
go on - it was merely a thought from all the people I speak to on a daily basis. Wishing you every
success in your endeavours

I'd see the 61.5 perhaps as just showing you have a sincere quest going on here, perhasp a degree of striving and perfectionism...but its not wrong, quite the reverse.

I'd see this as you've been genuinally doing what you needed to do. Often this has no relationship to how much a person earns. Some of the most useless people in the world earn the most money.

Hi Hope, sorry if I came on to strong in my reply, it's just such a tender spot right now. I have to admit I didn't take the time to properly look up the term 'underearner'. I still don't think this term applies to me though.

It took me 3 years to admit that to myself and gather the courage to work towards something better.

If you look at my previous threads you'll see I've had my share of financial difficulties, which prevents me from going back to school right now. I am making good progress with my finances, but still it will not be possible for me to pick up my education again until I've paid of my debt. Which will take another 2-3 years. My financial crisis certainly changed the way I handle money, on a permanent basis. It was an eyeopener on so many levels! It made me think of my future and what I truely want from life. Stuff I never really gave an honest thought until recently. It was because of my rejection of day to day reality I got into trouble in the first place. In a way my financial crisis was the push I needed to become a richer person, on the inside.

I've had alot of job interviews this month, all in the area I'd love to work, with little succes. Ofcourse, this was predictable, as I have little experience in this area. But, you can't blame a girl for trying eh?

I'd love to hear more about your way of counselling though, sounds interesting! My relationship with money is still a work in progress, I guess, and I would definitely appreciate your professional advice on the matter :bows:

As Trojan says your quest is sincere. Maybe ask the Yi what is required for
me to work in my desired field. You mention you lack experience - ask some
questions about how to get such experience

I would add - focus only on solutions - keep a clear vision and keep asking how
to get there - march on!!!!

i strongly disagree with hopex. instead of imposing your will and asking how to get "there" ( a place that you don't even know ) better wait for a opportunity to present itself and keep your mind clear. don't focus on a solution but focus on your surroundings. the solution is in the future , your surroundings are your present. take baby steps and follow the flow.

Hi
I think 61.5 > is saying you need to perhaps look at pointing yourself in a job where you shine as going from job to job is a band aid scenario I think that this is the advice if you could be happy in your job you might get off the merry go round. I think there maybe issues with self esteem which is no crime when thing wear you down it starts to get you down. Your employers would know if you have no interest and this leads to a crisis point you leave or you are fired, so being fired is not good for self esteem or tellling yourself you cant hack the pace
What do you enjoy and can you get employment doing it.
