Hi,

I've been looking into undertaking a form of healing in the new year; however, each time I've asked the Yi about it, I get variations of Hex 9 which seem to be giving me the message of "it's not time yet."

So I asked, "What steps must be taken prior to undertaking somatic therapy?" and got 5.2.3.4 to 17.

My initial reaction was that some things just happen in their own time, and for now I am supposed to just wait - maybe wait in joy, and spend some time doing things that I enjoy in the meantime (instead of constantly watching the pot, trying to figure what needs to be done.)

However, lines 3 and 4 seems pretty foreboding:

Line 3
'Waiting in the bog invites the arrival of robbers.'

Line 4
'Waiting in blood.
Come out of the pit.'

Any advice or interpretations on these changing lines would be helpful.

Thanks!

Who told you you had to do any kind of preparation?

hex 9 is partly about taking care of yourself.

Hi foreverendeavor,

"What steps must be taken prior to undertaking somatic therapy?"
5.2.3.4 to 17 ~ Wait until you can pursue it from the witness position.

I am not a therapist ~ this is just my opinion...

Lines 2,3,4 are changing from lake to mountain, meaning that you want your inner state to transform from being "in the washer machine" to standing on solid ground:

Otherwise, somatic therapy might drench you in:

line 2 ~ uncertainty
line 3 ~ vulnerability
line 4 ~ deep fears

So, I recommend having a solid meditation practice, and studying-up on healing somatic illness by reading Reginald Rey's book "Touching Enlightenment."

I hope this helps!

What steps must be taken prior to undertaking somatic therapy? 5.2.3.4 > 17

You have forgone any power over this situation, so you can't really take any decisive steps. You feel very uncomfortable (5.2), and you are waiting for far too long in a muddy situation, which causes someone to attack you (5.3). You only decide to make a move when you're already waiting in blood and you have no choice (5.4).

But even then, you still don't take any independent measures. 17 means to run after someone, to follow others, to go along. So my guess is that because you've waited for far too long in a very unsavoury situation, you completely lose power to take any substantial steps. No matter how painful the situation has become, you still don't take control of the problem.

This is a somewhat alarming reading. If it was my reading I would thoroughly re-evaluate my course of so-far inaction.
