What the future looks like for work: If I stay at my current workplace (23.5 > 20), If I leave for another job (7.2 >2)

Hello friends of Yi,
I could use some help interpreting the answers I got from Yi. I deliberately asked two opposite questions relating to career in order to compare responses and deduce which would be the most favourable direction to pursue.

The first question: "What does my future look like in the next 6 months to a year if I stay at my current workplace?":
23.5 > 20.
Now we all know how confusing (and contradictory) hex 23 can be at times. On the one hand, there is a clear message of something splitting apart as though there's no chance of what's in your mind working out (in my case to stay), but then there is also all this messaging about submitting to the bad time and staying put. Is Yi saying that I should not pursue the idea of staying or is Yi actually recommending that the right course is actually for me to stay put? I think you can appreciate why this is a particularly confusing response, especially since I literally used the word "stay" in my question. Relating hex of 20 (contemplation) confirms the contemplative nature of my question. The changing line 5 suggests that something good could come out of it though, through a woman. The contradiction of-- no don't pursue anything at this time, no point, just accept where you're at now, but then this aura of hope with the changing like 'actually there is something good here' is just super confusing though. Which is it?

So, in an attempt for further clarity, I reframed my second question to ask about the opposite: "What does my future look like...if I decide to leave my current workplace for another job?": 7.2 > 2
Even though 7 (the army) gives the impression that a lot of hard work and determination would be in order (questioning in a way if I'd be willing to take the inherent risk and tension that comes with that), changing line 2 seems to be very encouraging, as though suggesting that I would be rewarded ("Decorated") quite generously if I did go down that path- perhaps receiving a job opportunity where I could serve at a higher rank and lead. That is what I am aiming for.

For context, there were a series of events at work related to bias, favouritism and a lack of transparency around growth opportunities that triggered me to lodge a complaint towards the end of last year. Long story short, it led to me being approached to 'lead' a new business area, unofficially at first (this is standard practice at my company). This was supposed to strategically also pave the way to a promotion for me. I just needed to be given the time to demonstrate value and put in a lot of extra hard work beyond my daily responsibilities. However, rumours started going around a month ago that an external resource was being considered for that very same role-- the catch being that they would likely enter at the grade I am aspiring to get promoted to (which would drastically reduce the chances of anyone else getting promoted, myself included). I went to my manager and other people higher up for real answers, to verify or debunk the rumours and was told that it was true, that they were 'blindsided', and that there wasn't anything they could do about it. My manager referred to it as 'nepotism' because it was being steered by the VP and the person scouted was a personal friend. Naturally this is what prompted me to start considering leaving (question 2). However, the reason for question 1 and staying and what makes Yi's response extra intriguing is I've since been allocated a new manager-- a female. She also claimed to be blindsided by the news, but still somehow believes that if I do "x, y, z" and with her help/direction, I would still have a shot for promotion by the end of the year and not to be put off this person starting in about three months.. and that we have "time" between now and then to work me up. However things were toxic well before the opportunity came along. I used the opportunity to ride a high and figured I could look past the toxicity (and that perhaps the company could redeem itself) but the news of this new person crushed me to a level worse than where I was before this all started, which is why it's a bit awkward timing now that this new female manager of mine, with all her influence, is trying to wave her magic wand and make things happen again. Too much of a rollercoaster ride.

Which answer leads to a more reliable outcome? Thank you all.

I have read this a few times and am still stomped, I wonder if both readings point to you getting the promotion anyway

Thanks @Lakewater, I haven't got a clue.. but it's interesting you think I could still get a promotion if I stayed. I wonder what others think!

Staying at your work place seems to be a good option.23,5 The string of fishes help from people at the palace , help from the new boss?
23 everything crumbling down restructuring?

Other option foesn't look bad either although you need to be disciplined or goto war hexagram 7 to get a new job.
Line 2 looks not too bad either.

@maisie intrigued by this idea of "going to war" to get a new job, because that was a concept a friend and I discussed in relation to staying at my current workplace actually, in the sense that if I wanted to fight for a promotion, I'd have to go to war over the injustice I feel is happening. Though I see how the army can also logically infer that- i don't like that leaving looks difficult, but so does staying if things crumble and fall apart. So far I haven't been successful with my applications to new jobs. Feeling really cornered with either option at the moment!

Okay intwresting you had been talking like this when discussing leavingvto find work.I always get the feeling Hexagram 7 is telking me to be more disciplined , like a new solider type recruit would need to be.No personal idea about this but my father used to tell me about being in the army sort of early morning keeping your kit ready shinny shoes type of thing.
Yes and being ready to fight.
I think this is what it means for me usually. However 23, 5 means for me by experience I get help from networks, previous contacts or outside forces, usually turns out well.
I hope you get what you want would love an update.
I am also interesting in work type questions so keep us posted what you do and how it turns out.

I'll definitely keep you posted. So far not much of a change. It's been tough finding the time/motivation to job seek in my free time especially because my work week is so tough, I need my evenings and weekends to decompress so that I don't go crazy. Maybe this is where discipline is needed, but I don't know, I'm on the edge of burnout as it is.

Lise: To live in the center of the legion. Auspicious. Without fault. The king confers three commands.
The three commands just made me think of something official-esque that may have been repeated to you at your current workplace, which is currently that you'll be promoted to an in charge position (23.5 also seems to suggest some type of assistance where you are).

I could be wrong of course

In any case it's always best to be wise and act in your own best interest, what actions (or non-actions) can you take to better secure your future to one you will be happy with, what's the solution to your workload, what are some antidotes to your burnout, if you can't begin a whole job search campaign, what small thing can you do e.t.c e.t.c you don't have to do a lot, sometimes just reflecting as you rest is enough for a shift

Things are still very unclear at my current workplace- if anything, a bit muddier than what it was when I first posted this reading. It feels like whenever I take one step forward, I get pushed two steps back. That doesn't mean I've given up though, but I am certainly questioning how long it's going to be this way. In any case, non of my external efforts have led to anything and I am just tired on both fronts now.

Agreed. All i can do now is rest as much as I can and use the time to recuperate, but also do things I enjoy to counterbalance the crapiness.
