Hi!

I'm back with a reading that seems a bit contradictory to me.

I asked about "what do I need to know in order to make my business grom", and the answer was 11.2 > 36.

11 is my favorite hexagram of all, to me it symbolizes peace and harmony, what I'm always looking for (aren't we all?). Every time I've had an 11 reading things have been wonderfully complete and serene. However, line 2 ins't that serene, nor is hexagram 36, my least favorite hexagram of all (don't we all hate being entangled or hurt by an unfair situation?).

Anyhow, these two hexagrams together puzzled me, even more so with regards of the question: "what do I need to know?".
Thank you for your comments!

“What do I need to know in order to make my business grow?”
11.2 to 36 ~ Let inner peace be your guide through materiality.

In the Confucian scheme, a superior man cultivates five virtues that sustain the constancy of his inner peace in ever-changing times: tolerance, courage, fairness, openness, and uprightness.

Sticking to principles such as these will cost you your good time buddies, but it will enrichen you without peer.

With those five virtues at your core, your business can only grow.

I hope this helps!

Hi could also add, that you may need a plan that you need to stick no matter what, many business's do not have written business plans. I think there is also a call for flexibility, hexagram 36 maybe in this case is reflecting the lack of direction (darkness unable to see)

Thank you radiofreewill and steve for your input, I can totally relate to that.
If I may, steve, could I ask you what text(s) from the reading call for sticking to a plan no matter what and which to go for more flexibility? Thanks again!

Wilhelm/Baynes: Bearing with the uncultured in gentleness, fording the river with resolution, not neglecting what is distant, not regarding one's companions: thus one may manage to walk in the middle.

I think you could relate bearing with the uncultured with gentleness, in a general sense could mean being flexible and open, as mentioned above it could also relate directly to people, it could also mean being open to things and people in general. I do a lot of readings or casts for my business and thats how I might interpret the reading.

In relation to staying on course i found this text

Wu: This is like the sky enveloping all corners of the earth. Walking along a riverbank, one will not lose the direction even going far. He will show no favoritism toward friends. He will maintain a course of centrality.

Blofeld: Supporting the uncultivated, crossing the river without boats, not retreating despite the distance from his base, not abandoning his comrades, he still manages to steer a middle course.

The text by Wu about following the river bank struck home for me.

Not sure if you know about the story of Alexander the Great when he conquered the Middle East. He burnt all the ships in front of his men. So psychologically the men new they could not get home and there was only one way, forward. Bloefelds comments kind of remind me of this.

I think radiofreewill's advice is also relevant especially about the the principles. These are things that wont change, however circumstances in the business will. So in summary I think you need principles (ethics) and a plan.

Sounds about right I think for a successful business

Thanks again Steve. Of course, radiofreewill's advice: "Let inner peace be your guide through materiality" sounds particularly correct in my case. My (1-man, myself) company is in charge of selling my own art.
That sentence sounds particularly correct in my case, where the I Ching is telling me (reminding me) that the prime goal is to stay centered in creating art, and not letting the commercial / material aspects of it corrupt my inspiration.

Thanks again to the both of you.
