what does the imagery for 50.1 say to you. You think first...before other people, you'll get alot more out of it that way.

Tipping a cauldron upside down.....to get rid of stagnant stuff ? How might you apply that image to your study situation right now ? Do you want to end something totally and begin something new ? Can't cook fresh porridge in dirty used pot...so what would you do ?

Hey Gracia

the way i see it is Uni is always a great idea, and a vehicle for great change in one's life, provided studying is what makes you happy..

there is an idea of fearing change in the fan yao (the line in reverse, 14.1) but bear in mind that is usually fearing something that would actually be of great advantage for the subject to undertake.

could this apply to you? are you suffering from some sort of anticipatory fear or fear of failure that might be just holding you back?

just some thoughts!

thanks both for your opinions :)

trojan, i feel like that cauldron.. unable to do anything because this uni that i started years ago and never finish. now are 2 years thst i'm doing incripstion but doing nothing about it!it's like a loop... i want to finish at least the first cicle , but then i 'm touching no books at all! so then i feel bad with myself, and the wheel makes another round, but i'm stuck at the same place ..like this i feel... like that first line, but dont know what to do ...again ...

i'm afraid, lunar, maybe is because of that.
i'm afraid of not doing it well because i'm not studying at all and there 's not enough time for the nexts exams, i¡m afraid of being studying all summer and then not pass the exams, i'm afraid of giving up the uni and dont know what to do later.. and i still dont knowing....

anyway, thanks for your insight :)

You need to get out of this loop in any way you can. Never mind how it looks, its not a time to worry about appearances or convention. You need to tip the rotting stuff out...you may need to do something quite unusual for you...or drastic ...like maybe go to see someone at Uni and say "look I can't do this anymore, :hissy: can I do something else"...or maybe you just need to dump it altogether and go do something else and forget it. I don't know but don't try to carry on as before

Its not an unfortunate line...but you have to get rid of old stuff so you can start afresh with something else...otherwise you are left with all these negative feelings weighing you down

you need to break out a bit, stop trying to do things the same old way....do something that seems wild to you.

I don't have much personal experience with this line, maybe someone else will have...but anyway you need to shake it all up and tip it all out...if you can then something good can come from your new approach

Have a think about how it would feel to break out of that loop and what you need to do. You aren't stuck...but you may need to take some rather unusual action. This line is about turning the pot you are cooking in upside down so you are going to need to consider if this course is the pot how do you turn it, the course, upside down to get rid of all the rubbish and decay in it so you can cook something fresh

I think a person might have some fun with this line. On a practical level this may just be a heart to heart talk with your studies mentor perhaps ? I don't know exactly but this really isn't counsel for you to just keep on in the same way as you have been. May not be that you need to end the course but that you need a different approach to it...although by the sound of it your heart is not in it anyway so maybe it is time to ditch it. I think your answer says you could ditch it/leave then you can begin things once more and feel much better

Perhaps switch courses to something more suitable for you

ever heard of the 'fan yao'?

it's meant to be the same moving line of the first hexagram 'reflected' in the second one.

It's supposed to help you get a more detailed picture of the situation, sort of mirroring what's behind...

I believe it was Bradford Hatcher who introduced the idea, noticing a correspondence between these lines. You can find links and discussions on this website explaining it better.

not everybody looks at hexagrams this way, or considers it at all, but I find it very accurate.

If you find it confusing, don't bother with it. You have to find what works for your own interpretation.

good luck with your studies, the main thing is to learn not to be governed by fear..

All best
