When I went into town with a friend the other day, our first errand was to unload some things of hers at a charity shop - including a small wooden bookcase. So we wangled said bookcase out of the car and set off.

All of 20 yards away from the car, a woman stopped us.
Had we just bought that in Witney?
Erm, no, we were just giving it away to a charity shop in Witney.
Then could she, maybe, possibly, buy it...?

So she did - and the charity shop got a fiver instead of the bookcase. What are the odds of a meeting like that? Not high. We had that sense of delight and wonder that comes from perfect coincidences.

So naturally, I wanted to talk with the expert on coincidences about it.

Yi, what should I make of this?
29, changing lines 2 and 5, 2.

I get that I shouldn't make too much of it. But can anyone give me some better insights than that?

The crossline omens tell a bigger story...

In this light could it be that this small synchronous event was a simple message that you are about to connect in a bigger stronger way?

A sort of a 'Pay attention here it comes message'

Thank you!

Which lines are you looking at? 8,2 and 7,5? Or making the leap across to 30? (I've an idea that with these 'dragon gate' hexagrams you have the choice which way to go.)

One thing 29 makes me think is that it is not (yet?) time to 'cast light', develop 'insights' and have 'aha!' moments where it all becomes crystal clear and graspable. Flowing through should (!) be enough.

Anyone else?

Sorry - I was perhaps being a little too brief.

I know you only gave a bookcase away and so this might be a little OTT, but were it to be a small sign of the Yi being at work then...

(What I do with multiple moving lines, now, is to treat them as crossline omens within the model of the Steps of Change.)

So your reading would be (generally speaking) sitting in a time of Hx.2 (Receptiveness / Dark Animal Goddess Energy) and the movement of change would be:

Line 2: 29.2 > 8.2 : 14.2 > 30.2
Being quietly open to (and staying lightly centred), on your problems fears and ghosts, enables you to make sense of them; gather great energy and then see clearly how to move beyond or deal with them.

This enables the second movement of change:

Line 5: 29.5 >7.5 : 13.5 > 30.5
Difficulties in the outer world are almost resolved take the others on with a will (using insights from previous crossline) you will overcome them; others will come in to tune with you, or you find allies, and the an new positive energy returns.

Change Operators:
Inner (Yang) The Pit: Managing your inner fears
Enables
Outer (Yin) The Pit: Skilfully navigating the outer world difficulties / ebbs and flows.

(Yes the routes through the Dragon Gate Hexagrams are a little unsettled still.. this is the route I use.)

Thank goodness it was only a bookcase, otherwise I would have had you journeying to hell and bringing back the secret of life!

BTW - I know you don't need any assistance from me to interpret a reading -

I just felt like playing with this one - it all fitted so nicely.

Hilary,

Reflecting on the hexagram duo that emerged for you, 29>2 seems to define your personal take on coincidences. When they occur they fill you up and excite you (the sensation of danger can be pleasurable, too) filling you up with curiosity for that indefinable something which is behind the curtain pulling the strings of synchronicity.

Hi Demitra

I guess it would have helped if I too had addressed the question...

Slightly embarrassed

Kevin,

Our very existence is often to serve as examples to others - it's just that we're sometimes in the service of modeling "what NOT to do" (I should know a thing or two about that!) which doesn't jibe well with any pride we may harbor.. so don't feel bad.. get yourself out of that port and set sail - I know how much you like the open seas.

You don't know just how much I had been itching to re-edit it!

Let it stand - however with your input fed back into it and a few words changed it does make a wonderful path of change...

Good to see you arround here again

'Flowing through danger in a way that's creative' is the mechanical way to read 29>1. The 'creative' bit is easy enough to see, but I bet you didn't realize the situation was one of risk lol.

I found this interpretation of 29 and thought it was interesting considering your experience...

You may walk upon the water while the ice is on the river. But when the ice melts the pathway has no form. With awareness you can endure the absence of known pathways until the trackless becomes familiar.

Thus you create a path upon the featureless terrain of the new, the dangerous, the unexplored and ever shifting. Let the light from the flame of your mind, beyond thoughts, be the guide now, as it has in the past.

There are many dangers in a trackless ocean if you are without skill or a compass. But for those with both, adventure and fortune lies in facing and traversing the unfathomable seas of life.

Meeting the unknown then becomes a way of life. In the trackless, one needs to return to the simple and great truths of life left us by sages, or uncovered in our own search for the truth that has no form.

Water is a great teacher regarding this. It flows on despite the terrain, filling depressions, passing over rocks, falling great heights, all without changing its innate nature. So the changeless in us can meet all change.
