What will transpire if I contact him? Hex. 1 unchanging followed by 1.2.6>49 two weeks later...

Hello,

I'm looking for some insight into my situation where I received Hex 1...twice when asking the same question, two weeks apart!

I was briefly dating a man a month ago. I was very attracted to him, but I called it off....mostly because I am very busy with school and studying at the moment, and my attraction for him was very intense and I felt the interactions between us were too consuming (too much texting lol!). He also was just out of a relationship and wasn't looking for anything serious....I thought I felt the same, but after spending time with him, I saw that I actually do want to be in a committed relationship. Soooo....I ended things...but I haven't stopped thinking about him.

I asked Yi a couple of weeks ago how it would be if I contacted him to connect...this time with more boundaries around the limited time I have to give and more clarity around where this was all going I got - Hex 1 unchanging. I took this as potentially a good idea, but not the right time.

And now...I'm still thinking about him and what would transpire if I contacted him....I did another reading. Hex 1.2.6>49

I feel confused.
Line 2 seems to suggest meeting with a mentor of some sort and Line 6 seems like a warning or perhaps biting off more than I can chew?
49 speaks to some sort of transformation.

I'm surprised to have received Hex 1 twice....there's clearly a message here I'm not getting!!

I would greatly appreciate any insight!

Qián (Heaven) both inside and outside. Qián is not about what you do, but about how you do it. This is a time of imagining and making plans before you draw the blueprints and start building. It is also about finding the right timing. Don't start too early or too late. Don't let your motivation slide away though, the right time might come, or you might just need more time to improve your ideas.

1.2.6 > 49

In general the second line stands for going outside, connecting etc. The idea, thought that is represented by line 1 now meets the world, connects.

In 1.2 > the dragon appearing in the field. It will be advantageous to meet with the great man.
Personally I do not believe that "to meet with the great man" means meeting with a mentor, but that it is an image for taking action. To meet the great man means you have to take action to go there.
Your idea of contacting this person could now be put into action.

1.6 > The way I see it is that it is a warning. If you only keep thinking about what to do and do not put your idea/wish into action it will be too late.

Legge translation:The sixth dynamic line shows its subject as a dragon exceeding the proper limits. There will be occasion for repentance.

The relating hexagram 49 is another clue -> Transformation/Radical Change. With the meaning of 1.2 and 1.6 in mind, it seems to call for action.
There is a paradox in hex. 49 relating to your question because it says that only after the transformation you'll see you did the right thing.

Hex 49 Legge: Metamorphosis is believed in only after it has been accomplished. Firm correctness abolishes regret and brings successful progress.

I think that it's a good idea but yi is advising you not to surpass your limits (1.6) but i think if you do this, everything will change for the better (49)

I thought I would post an update....

So transformation and radical change did happen after I contacted him - but within myself and with my own sense of worth and value.
We met again, and it became clear that he is not looking for something that is going to evolve into a relationship (but he was eager to continue something casual). I saw that I'd been pining after this guy for weeks and it was all going to go nowhere, even if we continued to spend time together.

After our meeting, it was like a lightbulb went off! I realized I don't need to chase after this person and waste my time thinking it could be something more. I am an incredible human with lots to give, I don't need to accept less than what I'm looking for in a romantic partner...this definitely feels like successful progress in my journey.
