I thought it would be fun, and maybe a little humbling to find out which hex best describes our personalities. Like, what's your sign. So, I asked which hexagram best describes my personality. I got 64, unchanging. Although, I probably would word this more like, "Yi, how would you describe my personality?" So, whoever responds to this one casts for themself as well. I hope the Yi means wise fox:p, but I have a feeling the Yi is referring to the careless and somewhat hurried young fellow who gets his tail wet:eek:. Yep:), that's me. Funny, fox is also my totem. Anyone have some insighht into this, and then can cast one too. Only if you want to of course. It's not required...

I think this is describing a person who sees a way out of the "pits" in life. Philosophical and with sagelike understanding of the universe, a perpetual student who is capable of in depth understanding of the esoteric, with a strong sense of connectivity and unity with all things. You work with the laws of the universe to overcome any obstacle. A great and thorough thinker, you are careful about starting any new venture, but when you do undertake anything you are capable of great success. You might either have a lot of Sag influence or a strong 9th house. That would be my guess. Well, what do you think? Does this sound like you?

Hm. Yi thinks I'm like 1.2.3.6 > 17

I'm apparently someone who has ideas above their station is always overstepping their limits. Get me.

I don't think th Yi will reveal a life's purpose. I think the Yi is pointing out that once an obstacle is overcome in life a new one presents itself. So we are always growing, and always finding new purpose. I'd cast a new one if you for this thread since the questions are a bit different... Would be nice if we could just cast a Yi reading for our life purpose though:)

Well DWF that's a very flattering interpretation of my hex lines. ;)
It does describe me in Ia lot of ways, and I do have a Sag rising.
In this kind of reading would note there is a difference between describing the basics of one's personality, and ones character which may contain flaws. Viewed that way line 1 would be more about being someone who can see things from the perspective of young people, rather than being faulted by the line for one's immaturity. Although that describes me as well, as line 6 says I am the type of person who checks myself. One's virtues can be one's faults too, one's given personality comes with an upside and a downside.

But I do work with and write for young people a lot, so that perspective is there, have been decidedly on a public spiritual path for years, and I often read people without coins or yarrow and have had amazing spiritual experiences over the years.

Yes, it is quite flattering. I figured there was a downside there as well, but I was having a little trouble getting a clear idea of what it was. Figured you would be modest enough to fill us in. I mean, even you can't be that great, ya'd have to be superhuman! I picked up on teaching kind of, but not clear exactly why so I didn't put anything about it. So, amazing spiritual experiences... I'm not surprised. We'll have to start a thread on open space for amazing spiritual experiences. I bet everyone would have a lot to write there. Seems like a lot of that comes up on threads anyway:).

BTW, Precision Grace, I think yours is pointing to leadership ability. Those might be some obstacles you face when leading, but I would have read this as creates a following. You do seem to have that affect:)

Mine is hexagram 62 unchanging.

A small bird who recognize his limitations and don't take on more than he is able. Be simple and unpretentious and keep my feet firmly planted on the ground. If I am too big, people will resent me and my projects will fail. But if I am modest, I will earn respect.

Well ...
20.1
"Boy like contemplation. For an inferior man, no blame. For a superior man, humiliation."
Could mean a shallow, thoughtless way of seeing that doesn't comprehend the connected whole. Either/or, rather than "both" thinking.
Could also mean having the nature to see things with new eyes, with an open mind and heart, understanding the viewpoint of kids, good for someone in the music business for example. "May you stay forever young..." I have a friend who was close to Sri Prabupad, whose initiate name means this, actually.

20.6
"Contemplation of his life. The superior man is without blame."
I know I have the faults of line one, because I am the kind of person who checks myself.

3 Difficulty at the beginning
Could mean I procrastinate. Ok I do. Also means I have many things to do, and I create a lot. I am thunder and you are love, and we are meeting for the first time, don't worry we'll get past this. And all this new life needs my inspiration and guidance, needs me to create some order and make sense out of things. Oh boy...

The small fox is a very careful and clever animal. She tries each step and can change quickly when necessary, ready to adapt to whatever might happen.

Hi, prhaps Yi is stressing on how you are NOW, as it is about change. I once asked Yi to describe somebody`s personality and we had a small discussion here, trojan said a person is much more than a hexagram..this is the link: http://www.onlineclarity.co.uk/friends/showthread.php?t=12715
Anyway, I took that it was about that persons role in life at that time and although some personal characteristics do not change, roles do.
Maybe I ask about myself latter.

Yes I could see the original answer of 64 here to DWF as there is no finished construct of personality...its shifting all the time, infact it may not even exist....its unfinished and never will be finished, anymore than the clouds will one day stay stuck in some formation and have a solid shape. Even rocks change shape

But perhaps in this thread DWF is asking just for now 'what am I like'....for fun ,so I think people are answering for fun

For fun..

"what reading best describes my current personality?"
34.3.4>19

34 - Noble one treads no path that is without ritual. I think it's pretty true. I feel like every step I take is symbolic and everything I do, even when waaaayy wrong is something divine and part of a larger picture. I constantly am feeling this way especially when I look around at the world today and see so many people letting the media carry them in their decisions etc. Or not even caring at all about their path. ........ of course, I am not perfect :flirt::D all of the time (as described in the lines).

.3 - I often forget that I need to be more resonant with my surroundings and surrender now and again. I cannot bring my yarrow to work and give someone a reading just because I think they might benefit. They would all laugh at me, discredit the whole thing and lock me in a closet.

.4 - But I know the powers of the Yi and I know the power within myself. I carry on in my cart and on my path.. whistling :) and working on myself which is all that I can. (I really need to remember to do that all of the time instead of thinking I can change other people... big problem of mine :duh:)

19 - I think this is talking about my inherant nurturing nature.. I always want to protect and help out. ..... always watching, learning and ready to swoop in if things aren't right. I'm a defender!! :demon:

Is there something I am missing? Am I being WAY to optimistic and flattering myself?

Yes, I started this thread as light hearted, but figured this question would come up. And I did see the same angle as Trojan, but in the context I asked the question I don't think the Yi is being generic here.

My take on personality is, although personality does change over time, there is a core to one's being that stays pretty much the same throughout one's life. Like one's sun sign doesn't change. I know I have a certain something that is me and doesn't really change. The part that is the foundation of who I am. And the following further explains how I felt this reading relates to me personally...

So, I'm thinking the Yi is saying young fox-old fox, that I'm in between. I'm not going to become a wolf, the core will still be "fox", but a more mature fox is developing. I didn't take this as a generic philosophical statement because a personal take is so in line with what is going on right now and my affinity with the fox and the issues I've had with maybe rushing things while at the same time having a calculated and cautious side. I'm also going through major astrological shifts. I don't remember the details of what was moving where, but the effect of these changes is like a metamorphesus. So I am in a stage where I am becoming more like the wise fox.

So, I do think there is some good insight here, even though I've presented it as fun and light. I wasn't sure what kind of answers to expect here either, especially with a 64UC to start. I was thinking, well, it might just be saying what Trojan said. And then everyone will just get a similar answer. And that wouldn't be fun.. But my gut feeling was this was a personal answer, so I decided to post the thread. I'm actually kind of impressed with the answers. Some of them have been very relevant, I thought, to people's characters.

Answered questions, I thought your interpretation was fair. And, although others may have different insights here, I think what you see is valid.

But, yes, mainly posted this for fun, and don't care all that much of the answer was actually philosophical or not:p...

So, back to the fun...
Speaking of fun, loved that crab video, Trojan. Hysterical! How ever did you find that? Funny, posts like that are the ones that really touch my heart:hug:

I like this thread DWF

I received 49.5 to 55 which put a big smile on my face (really needed it this morning too). The transformation of the tiger, one of my favorite hex configurations.

Sorry, I kind of disappeared there for a while. Computer issues and moving have made it difficult to stay connected. Thanks White Owl:). I thought it would be fun.

According to LiSe
9 at 5: The great one changes like a tiger. Even before the augury he inspires confidence.
Who acts and reacts open and honest and clearly visible, will find belief. Openness has more power of expression than any explanation. He is the one who can persuade others towards the good changes.

It doesn't get any better than that:)!

What's Your Hexagram...22 > 51

What a delightful idea. As a newcomer, I think it's wise to reveal all I can with the help of IChing. My hexagram is 22. 3.4.6 > 51

Really, it's true. Grace changing to Arousing and/or Shock.

22.4 in Wilhelm I found online is accompanied by a picture of a winged white horse, which happens to be an old friend of mine...a totem animal apparently, as it shows up in dreams so often. "The winged horse is the symbol of the thoughts that transcend all limits of space and time." I think so. I'm a published author, working on a new book I hope will broadcast ideas into the mainstream consciousness.

If anyone chooses to help with interpretation, I'll be grateful. I think.

Dear dancing white ferret,

I had never thought about asking such a question to the Y and I'd never thought that I would :D But there you go ;) What is my hexagram? 11.3.5 >> 60

Go with the flow.
11.3 - Life is change. When things go right, enjoy but keep your feet on the ground. When things go wrong, well ...nothing lasts forever.
11.5 - Life is not about rank or hierarchy, it is all about cooperation and partnership.
60 - Accept your boundaries and limitations and be happy :)
