I have been posting lots of hexagrams this week.
I like to throw coins :)

I am an actress who doesn't work as an actress. I don't even have an agent. I should get one I think.
Anyway I have studied with some acting teachers but keep feeling that I have something interesting but cannot master it yet (I didn't study in an academy, my studies are not uniformed, not complete).
Plus that guy telling me I should enrol in a BASIC acting training course :(

So yesterday I asked: Where am I with my acting skills? (meaning: am I at the beginning? am I ok? Do I need to learn more?) 61.5.6>19

It doesn't look bad to me :)

From Hillary:
I think that Inner Truth means being completely at one with your place and time, and hence also connected to its deeper source. It gives you the sense of being in the right place at the right time: you trust the universe and yourself, and so you become wholly sincere and yourself worthy of trust. Of course, this is the ideal moment for crossing the great river and committing yourself to a new venture - and because your inspiration is coming from the right place, there will be a rich harvest from constancy.

I've also sometimes received this hexagram to encourage me to trust in the universe even when there seems no particular reason to do so

61.5
Who is true can also recognize truth in others. He can make real and deep contact, and he can avoid all harmful and needless influences. The ability to find the right people and avoid the wrong ones is one of the greatest assets in life, surpassing the best education, the most abounding riches.

61.6
Do not dissect truth too much in words or ideas. Before you realize it, you live up to great words instead of simple intuition, to beautiful ideas instead of simple experience. Give your emotions a fair chance to live life without giving it names.

This last one sounds like an invitation to act towards something, to experience things instead of just making plans about writing plays and so on.

19 could mean that I am about to find my teacher, finally? And as 61.5 points out, I will be able to spot the good one.
I hope so :)

yes it's difficult to BE IT if you have no relations in the business.
Unfortunately I'm not from US or England or France where good actors get the chance to work. I'm from a country where you get the job if you know the right politician - this especially concerns tv jobs.

But I won't give up ! :)

try to work in independent movies first... go to film school and ask upcoming film makers to work with them ... I know several actors who started out like that

There's never been a better time for indie films. There seems to be a move away from big budget, studio financed films which means crowd funding technology has made a real difference - kickstarter.com for example, though there are a number I believe. Quite a few movie stars who have a bit more to them than usual have ditched the glamour for films with more substance to them. (Josh Hartnett is one that comes to mind, who actively turned down blockbusters for the indie road). Then there is the possibility of becoming an extra which can be a good way to get into the business. Then of course, there's community theatre which can be a great way to hone your skills.

You know people here say that actors shouldn't be extras as it's seen as negative and it's two parallel paths. Yet I have worked a couple of times as an extra just to get those 75 euros a day.

Theatre is great but here where I live you have to rent the theatre if you want to do your play and you are never going to get the money back. Theatres are closing down, it's a whole mess! even big directors with European funding are having difficulties.
So I was really aiming at big important films.. A friend of mine has made it! She was really determined, a very different kind of person from what I am. She sure isn't depressed and just goes for what she wants.
I'll have to take her as an example :)

A couple of days after I'd asked about my acting skills I also asked

what is the potential in getting myself an agent? (which would be going the serious/big films way)48.3.6>59

48.3 Someone is talented (me?) but is not believed (no success in finding an agent).
Or
Someone is talented (I guess it's me again) but sits on the coach and not let other people see her own talent
:hide:

Anyway it doesn't look bad.
When I was undecided whether to remain in town A or move to town B, 48 came up for town B (the one I am now): my i ching expert friend said at the time:

"oh, a well! that's a very good omen: what are you going to find in city B? A well!"

There's still that 59 I kept getting with the director which soooo said it meant to lighten up. TO let go.
