Where are my efforts to pull myself out of the mud heading? 17.1.2.3 > 28

The way I phrased this question might be confusing - I was not asking what actions will I take in the future? but rather what fruits will my efforts to raise myself produce this week or next? To be honest, I'm not sure which question the Yi answered... maybe they are one in the same.

17.1.2.3 > 28

Following.. venturing out into the world, leaving my isolation, choosing the path of the responsible adult rather than that of the carefree child... (do you think the Yi advises to choose the path of the adult?).. leads to great pressure, great exceeding. To exceed - that could be going past a certain point not yet reached. But, I hope it is a positive point, not a negative one, especially because the following hex is 29 (not sure if that matters).

I think it's saying that I will join a group (I hope so) and take on responsibility and it will be stressful but a sign of progress.

You are being led to a point of crisis, by following/accepting these new ideas and feelings you are increasing inner pressure/energy, and it will demand a release eventually, will expose the weak points, will destroy the old rigid structure(28) and the new life will start to flow(29) again.

Hi, hexagram 28 has to do with a situation that is almost at the breaking point. It can cause stress, but it provokes action and allow you to overcome fear: so, gain by having somewhere to go. A stressful situation prods you to act and the hexagram encourages you to take action, in some direction or another.
Thus, I see this hexagram as the context of your question : the mud that you wish to pull yourself out of.
17 in turn definitely advises sociability or joining a group (line 1) and possibly the other lines ask you to consider support both your inner child (line 2) -- (be playful and nurturing to yourself) -- and your responsible adult.

Thank you, this rings a bell for me. It's nice to think that maybe I don't need to choose between responsibility and openness and fun. Perhaps your read that both should be nurtured is a pragmatic view.

I will update the forum with how it pans out.
