Hi all,
This is the most befuddling situation and it is driving me crazy. Particularly as it seems I am getting more and more scatter brained and that makes me worry about senility, Alzheimers, all those nice things.
I moved this summer and I've been looking for my black ultra light down coat for two weeks. Nada. I've turned the house, the cellar, empty suitcases and boxes and the garage upside down and back again. I've even looked in the oddest places, like under the sink, and in boxes filled with papers and files.
I see myself in my old flat placing said coat on the bed to roll it up and manage to get it into its little bag (did I pull it off or not? Can't say for sure).
I made a detailed inventory for the move.
The darn coat is not specifically listed, though my other coats are. Did I bring it down before? Did I fail to list it? Did the movers lose it? I have no clue.
So I ask Yi, please give me an image of where my coat is.
27.4
It's in a hungry box with bad eating habits??? The Yi is funny, but that doesn't enlighten me at all.

Is there a psychic in the house that has an affinity for a black ultra light down 3/4 length coat with hood (rolled up or not)???

It's not the end of the world if I don't find it, but how can a coat vanish and why does my brain pull these tricks on me?

Thanks to anyone who has an energy lightbulb!!!:bows:

I see it as likely saying one of two things:

A-Either it is encouragement for you to keep up your search, like a hunting tiger.
or
B-A tiger stole it from you.

A seems more likely.
But it wasn't on your list...
Did you wear it the day you left the house?
or did someone move your belongings and possibly take it?

I didn't wear it, I moved in the summer and in the middle of a whopper heat wave. The movers were awful, disorganized, did damage, but don't seem to have lost anything. And there was nothing left in the flat, I spent two days cleaning and fixing after the movers left
That it wasn't on my detailed inventory - either an oversight (thank you brain) or I took it down before (but then it wouldn't have been rolled, it would have been worn -- but then there wouldn't be the coat that I did leave here on the last trip down before moving . Following me?? :) )
Keep up my search -- sure, but i've gone through everything at least twice... That's why I asked Yi, to get some sort of direction to narrow things down and turned to folks here as I know there are a few very prescient beings around!!

I wonder if one of your friends may have it.
Do you have a girlfriend that admires your style?

Or another box of cloth goods that it doesn't belong in?
(is it in with the towels? or old sheets?)

I have similar ideas to Moss Elk.
Maybe someone coveted it and stole it from you.
Or a tiger ate it (your washing machine..?).

And just to experiment on what Gmulii suggested over at Exploring Divination:
Lower trigram thunder is unchanging so it represents you. While you were in a state of shock, or movement, at some point last spring...
... then the upper trigram, representing your coat, went from being a solid possession of yours (mountain) to becoming fire. Gen/mountain also represents a door, or a knobbly tree (so perhaps a coat-hanger on a door). Then suddenly Gen becomes Li, fire, which can also represent weapons.

I believe someone stole it from you between last spring (Gen) and last summer (Li). Because 27 shows hunger, and 21 shows biting, perhaps someone stole it at a restaurant? Then again you'd have noticed at the time...

Gmulii if you're around please let us know if this is how this is supposed to work.

That aside, I hope I'm totally wrong and you find it in a box where it doesn't belong to.

And Line 4 is Arrival so perhaps as diamanda says it's either in your entranceway somewhere or when you first moved into the house where is the first place you put such things!! Have you bought any new clothes since moving?

Thanks all for jumping in. It's nice to feel support in this insanity.

I really doubt it was stolen. Even my lousy movers losing it doesn't sit right. (I'm starting to think I have a humorous ghost, if I' m not losing my marbles, cause a plastic bag with kitchen utensils I was going to give has vanished this week...)

I never put it in the washer.
All the boxes have been unpacked, the only remaining ones hold files and paper or books.
i've not bought any new clothes since the move.
i just paused to ask yi where to look now (well tomorrow, it's late):
44.4
It does suggest in something....
(Just in case, no no woman was involved in my move, no chance a friend stole it).
Darn these things!

Diamanda, if you are right, then what happened to my coat? The question is driving me bonkers. It wasn't stolen, I didn't throw it out, it wasn't left in the city....
So I asked yi, what happened to my coat --34.5 losing sheep. How does one lose a coat (and worse, not remember having lost it?)

Haha flashlight I love reading your posts reflecting a wonderful sense of humour you must have - 34.5 says to just let the loss and finding of the coat go!

Thanks Becalm.... yeah, I do (normally) have a good sense of humor, a talent to laugh at myself, and strive to see the positive side of things. But this coat nonsense has really gotten my goat, not least of which I'm having a whopper series of mercury retrograde events! Can't wait for 12/7 when it goes direct again...

It has really gotten your sheep!

It's hard for me to tell how/where you lost it by a reading. Hmm...
At a bar/restaurant called The Lizard? When you were breaking up with an ex?

As about Mercury retrograde, tell me about it. This one's quite rough.

HA HA HA HA, you are funny Diamanda. Gotta find such a restaurant. The ex breakup predates the disappearing coat by a long long tim :)

Yeah, this mercury is a bute. I've had it all from appointment and reservation cancellations, to a jerk hacking my website and blog, to mail taking 12 days instead of 2, to late client payments, to the disappeared coat.. Can't wait for Friday.....

Not read whole thread and 34.5 does look like this is something to let go but

have you looked inside other coats you own ?

I ask as I have 'lost' garments by hanging other garments over them in a cunning attempt to save wardrobe space. I am most likely to lose garments this way when they are black because 2 or 3 black items layered over each other on hangers are very hard to see. So I would suggest, if you haven't already, looking thoroughly inside other black garments that are hanging up or even folded up....

I regularly lose black things way.

Flashlight, I empathize! This happened to me as well a few months ago after a move. I too asked Yi, "Where is my coat?" and the oracle answered 21.4->27. I thought, oh dear, legal proceedings, constancy in hardship, maybe the movers somehow lost it (in a previous move we did lose a box that had a scanner + small rug in it, we think someone stole it off the back of the truck when it was open). 27, I thought, is it near food?

Well, it was just as Trojina described, stuck half inside another coat. I honestly don't know how I missed it. In your case, you mention having rolled it up, but I still think it could be inside something.

(That said, I still find the reading I got for my own situation utterly baffling.)

Just to add I do think 34.5 describes a situation where putting it out of your mind until it reappears (or letting go of attachment to it in general) is the best course of action.

Thanks Mulberry, how wild you too asked Yi where your coat was!!
I'm going to have to put it out of my mind for a few days anyway (be QUIET unconscious!) because of work and massive mercury retrograde mayhem. Gosh, this is the worst in a long long time!!!

Go out and buy a replacement - as soon as you do the old coat will instantly reappear!

ALERT ALERT!!! COAT FOUND!!!!

Bingo. Trojina was right.

I went to the only closet in the house, where I had looked a dozen times, and a friend had too. Pulled out the coat I was going to use as substitute, and the bag in which the coat is rolled up was hanging from the hanger ** but there was no way to see it or sense it without physically taking out the hanger and the other coat.
Man is it wrinkled after being rolled up 6 months!!!
Thank you all :)
Now all I have to do is find one other important thing that has gone missing but that's another story altogether.
(bye bye mercury retrograde, get the heck out of my chart!!!)

Great , I love being right, it's good for my health. :)

What to make of your original answer though ?

So I ask Yi, please give me an image of where my coat is.

I thought perhaps one coat had 'eaten' the other one, if one was inside the belly of the other one so to speak. That's not why I made the suggestion though, at least I don't think so, I made the suggestion because it so often happens to me.

Also I have been dying to make a poem ever since you said the loss of your coat got your goat

The Coat

It gets my goat
I lost my coat
Sticks in my throat
How I lost that coat
Turns out
It wasn't a goat or a sheep neither
My coat got eat by a Tiger

...plus this answer to your question has given me some interesting ideas about 27 and 'inside'. I mean visually 27 might look like a sandwich and of course it is jaws, referring to what we take in as nourishment - and so on but what if the idea of 'inside' was also part of 27, just as our alimentary canal is inside.

@Moss Elk. Aw, sorry if I hurt your feelings :( But I understood your take (from what you wrote) that the coat might be in a place it is not supposed to be, maybe with other cloth things like sheets and towels. But the coat was in the only logical and proper place, right where it was to be, and not mixed in with things that it doesn't belong with.
Glad you got your creative poetry juices flowing!!!!!

@Trojina, you were right, but let's admit it, little to do with the I ching readings (though ex post facto perhaps we can "see" interpretations now that we have the answer) Of course it got my goat, Yi kept talking to me about sheep (and my coast isn't even wool LOL!). Also, in the past I've often gotten 27 when looking for something I can't get my hands on. I get irked, as it is like Yi saying to me "yo! dummy! it's IN something" -- well, yeah, figured that already, but What thing Yi?

Ha, thanks. My feelings are not hurt. :)
(but you still don't understand that my 1st impression was that Yi was advising you to Keep Hunting for the coat.)

I agree and I think it's pretty much like that most of the time. The answer addresses you it's not describing the object or the career or the love interest or whatever it is it's addressing you. except the times it is describing the object/career etc etc

Yeah, thar is the hardest part, I think,
discerning when it is a literal answer, and when it is advice to you.
I get both types, maybe 70/30?
(one way I can tell is when I light up with certainty: direct.
Or there is an inner sound akin to car brakes screeching.)

When it is addressed at me,
(doesn't directly answer)
I get the impression of a two year old running around in a panic yelling, "Gah, Loli! gah! bugs! Loli! ahhhh"
to which the adult says, "don't worry, there are plenty more Loli's, forget the one covered in bugs"

Congratulations Trojina! :bounce:

I think I should get a little pat too - you found it when you went for a new coat. :flirt:
