My father committed suicide over a decade ago. He was an alcoholic. He was divorced and was homeless for the last years. That's all I know as I was living in other city without much contact with my parents. They were both abusive. My mother is still alive. So I finally asked this question. I believe that abyss describes it well.. Big, big mistake.. He shouldn't do this. But then there is joy,

maybe this is overstretching but maybe it's a metaphor that he is literally with other ghosts? I dream about him often but those aren't good dreams. I usually fight with him. I thought maybe he comes to visit not to fight but to say he is all right but my subconscious is still afraid of him and hates him too. So the 58 I see as saying that he is okay albeit not yet at peace, not yet completely free. ""Shaughnessy: Patterned usurpation; not yet at peace; a transitional illness has happiness."

If consciousness does indeed continue after death than I think your interpretation of 29.1.4, 58 makes total sense. Like he's with other ghost buddies enjoying a few beers and a bit of conversation but 29.1 makes me think it's not an ideal situation. Maybe stuck in purgatory.

Usually we think of the oracle as a way to connect with Universal Mind or Our Higher Self or some such thing, but I've also gotten meaningful answers directing my questions to a specific persons. For example, last week I used it to direct a question to my grandson, "What would you like for your birthday?" I got 14 uc so I sent him a check. He called me and literally said it was just what he'd always wanted! Anyway, you might try directing your question to your father, "Where are you now, Dad?" and see what response you get.

Energy motivated by anger creates static on the psychic airwaves which makes clear communication impossible. Hexagram 34.3 describes it as being like a goat who tries to butt through a hedge but instead of making progress his horns become entangled. Try talking calmly to your father using the I Ching or just in your own mind. You may find the anger dissipates and you are able to hear what he is trying to say. Or at least you get a good night's sleep!

That's very peculiar way of looking at it then it would possibly mean that I ching is a language system that produces answers coming from the fact that everything is interconnected like this whole universe is entangled interesting

And to me it indeed feels like he's in purgatory where he put himself by his own of course me visiting him in dreams and he realising I don't want to talk to him and fighting him instead is the best purge he could receive.

I remember once I took a strong benzodiazepine medicine for anxiety really strong one and I had a dream where me and him were hugging and not fighting (but then next night everything resumed) so does that mean that its all in my head or my anxiety prevents proper communication as you said and is there any difference as everything is connected
