Where should I look for a good job? 23.5>20

I intend to quit my current job for a better one with a regular, preferably higher payment & a better use of my abilities- to say, foreign languages, writing, working with texts.

I've been sending my resume to different employers on job searching websites since a few months, and had been invited to a few interviews, but none was successful: most of them require abilities I don't have neither am interested in [to say, marketing skills. I'm introvert, independent, need a calm atmosphere; and the marketing sphere is all the opposite. I know the lack of interest and high stress would kill my spirit, as I've worked in a similar environment for a while].

While I'm working on my third language, I don't know where to look for the appropriate job. So I asked the I Ching:

Where should I look for a good job? and got 23.5>20

The line aside, seems like quitting my current job first (23), and seeing (20) what happens next.
Now the line:
'String of fish
Through the favour of the palace people.
Nothing that does not bear fruit.'

Who can be these palace people? In some translations they are palace ladies- does it mean working for a female employer, or in a female dominated corporation? Or maybe a woman I know would offer me a job?

Hypothesis 1 for 23.5 - 20 : by taking a step back and looking at the whole, you may know a woman and women who could introduce you to the palace of the company that may suit you.
Hypothesis 2 : You will meet a woman and women who will support you in your research...

The Judgment for 23 in the WB says:

"Splitting Apart. It does not further one to go anywhere."

Rather, the advice is to stay where you are, instead, and go on a Charm offensive (since you are at the head of all those yin lines) ~ and you will be 'courted' by a powerful person, who will give you a gift, and show you favor?

A few times I had thought about leaving my well paying job because of some value clashes with the way things are done... but friends advised me to not burn bridges and so I stayed on even though I initially took a few months off while attempting to get other things off the ground

RE: 23.5 It also appears that it is in your best interest to maintain your position but perhaps share your future goals with other higher ups as I have been doing with colleagues and other organisations linked with my current job - I’ve also applied for a casual desk space amongst other like minded professionals in a beautiful location - perhaps this is something you might be able or interested in doing as well.

On the flip side 20.5 to 23 “Looking at my own life” - I think that has something to do with looking at past actions in your career, what does or doesn’t, has or hasn’t produced the results that you wanted and doing more or less of whatever works best for you.

Reading the translation of Radiofree et Meltingpot, I think 23 can indeed mean that you must stay in place for now. At first, I saw 23 as your desire to leave, but finally, you may have to wait to find your next job which apparently will arrive...

Look for it in the ruins of where you are. It's possible a different role in your current workplace might appear or appear through it, a connection through it. Line 5 is to do with using connections in a situation that is deteriorating in order to move forward.


I got this cast once when I had had enough of going to work where an agency sent me. Then I got a call offering me a role where I'd be the one doing the sending. A completely different role at the same place come by a woman I had some rapport with. If your current job for example has a list of contacts/clients who are connected, (well they'd have to be connected,) there may be opportunities there. This line is all about using friendly connections from where you are. Where you are, in 23, will be a situation that's crumbling or feels like it is. In line 5 you use connections there to get you out of it. I think there can be an element of sneakiness, calls to people without revealing to the employer about what you're doing, I mean it's a line to do with favours, a back door approach.


Be alert to openings where you don't expect them, informal suggestions etc.

UPDATE:

Since less than one month I've been working remotely for someone my female professor introduced: I translate the papers of clients who apply for educational programs in a foreign country.

There are elements representing the palace lady & the "string" of fish. I found the work all of a sudden, too, as Trojina indicated: I was out with my professor, we were following up the publication of our joint work, and if I went out of her car a few minutes earlier, the conversation about my current employer didn't come up.

I have received two similar job offers in recent days. Interesting, as it's the result of posting my CV on a job finding website around six months ago.

My question was about finding a good job. It's too soon too tell. But everything has been OK up to this day.

Definitely not an expected read from this hexagram. I received 23uc when asking about the outcome of a job interview I eventually got.

UPDATE:
All aspects of my life have been unstable for more than a year, as most of you know. I re-update because I don't work for the employer mentioned in my last post anymore.

My current profession, which I love far more than the previous ones & intend to maintain & expand, is teaching French, which involves working for a Language institute that offers me teaching opportunities+ working as a self-employed teacher. (I also take projects from an online translation office- & occasionally from known clients-, however they're so rare that I don't rely on their income. Plus, my favorite workplace is now the language institute).

Interestingly, the way I started to work for the institute was unconventional: I had posted an announce as a French tutor on a website, and the institute contacted me to fix an interview, before employing me in one day & introducing me to my first student in less than a week. In fact, they "applied" for my skill instead of me applying for the teaching position.

While the income isn't high yet, it feels definitely like a perfect job for me which I want to keep and hope I don't return to this thread some time later to say this ended, too.
