Where's the hearing aid?

I love the Yi. Sometimes its replies are super clear! For instance, yesterday I could not find a plastic folder I had with me, and got 23.4 with the couch overthrown and skin to be injured - it was under a heavy bag in my car boot ;)

However, other lost objects castings are not that simple to grasp - typically those where no finding ensues... My mom lost one of her hearing aids the other day. We were in the car, and she claimed to have removed it there and put it on the seat - needless to say, it was nowhere to be found. After a while she was no longer sure about the circumstances, and knowing the aids often slip when removing the mask, on top of the fact that she is not fond of them and takes them off, I figured she might have lost them in a shop we had been to before. We went back to no avail. The hearing aid is still missing.

Where is it?
25.3 > 13
This could mean someone has benefited from our loss, finding the aid and keeping it...

Please clarify where the hearing aid is.
11.1,3,5 > 29

I'd be really thankful for any insight. Doing without the aid is a major disadvantage for my mother.

- leaving its place and being drawn along by s.t. passing by like a hairbrush, a pullover …
- gliding down into a dark ?watery? pit or channel or cave, being taken along into the 29 place by s.t. much bigger
Dirty laundry container ?

This is a very unrefined guess but perhaps it fell into a crevice? Or hole? Somewhere you can't see it? 25.3 is it being innocently or absentmindedly lost... 11 > 29 seems like retrace your steps and think of places it's been "lost" before? Between the cushions of the couch, places like that? Hope you find it!

Repeating Chasms: Deep into the space between cushions or any things that will admit a small object. A grate, or a pocket.

What was she doing and where when she knew she couldn't hear? Was this discovery immediate when it happened?

11. Flow... someone during an animated discussion, or when she was focused on something (that maybe didn't require hearing?).

She's not in control (Marrying Maiden) so it could be in the car. What other environments was she in where she wasn't in control and yet was part of the ongoing action (conversation?) Was she in an elevator?

.1 Thatch suggests carpet, velcro, or even pins to me. Or fabric?

.3 Is a temporary situation, or there's an unexpected benefit to be gotten here even though it's problematic.

.5 Delays while the problem is worked around. But a fortunate solution.

When I read, I interpret the relating hexagram as the environment for the situation described by the primary hexagram. (I don't know if this is right. But my own readings work better when I read them that way. )

29: did the hearing aid ultimately flow through something and land in a different space, like the drain of a bathroom sink? Was it water flowing when she lost it? Was this similar to the environment when she lost it?

I think your mum wanted to 'get rid of it'. Would she accidentally deliberately do that?

11.3 and .5 make me wonder, was it time for a new hearing aid anyway? Especially line 5, which is about a king marrying off his daughters into a rival clan, and a generation later their sons founded a new dynasty. (This was the dynasty responsible for the I Ching, by the way.)

So generally it's saying that the next generation "brings fulfilment, good fortune from the source," and could that possibly mean the next generation of hearing aid... of course I'm guessing wildly and that might be utterly ridiculous. :spinning:

Hello All,

Apologies for this delayed response. The past few weeks have been hectically challenging. I am greatly appreciative of all your interpretations 🙏

As I related in another thread, my mum suffers from cognitive impairment and her short term memory is very bad. She realized she was missing the hearing aid when we were in the car, and claimed to have just removed it - but we could not find it anywhere in the vehicle. We therefore have no idea of the actual circumstances of the loss. My best guess is that it came off earlier that day, while we were out and about, when she took off the mask and did not realize the aid had slipped. Then it must have been drawn along (fallada), fallen into a hole (redoleander), or flown through something (ZeroPoint). It has not reappeared since.

I think your mum wanted to 'get rid of it'. Would she accidentally deliberately do that?
Spot on, Trojina. She hates her hearing aids. Albeit she's been using them for years now, she needs to be reminded daily to put them on and not remove them until she goes to bed. The BIG problem is that due to her cognitive issues she's already absent-minded, and not being able to interact with the surrounding environment isolates her even more.

Intriguing guess, Liselle! She's currently doing a free trial of new hearing aids - higher end and price. I'm far from being impressed: the expected improvement simply isn't there. I did ask the Yi whether to purchase them, getting 27 unchanging. Maybe it was a tongue-in-cheek reply ("Why do you even ask?! You need them!"), or maybe the question was returned to me ("You sure you need them? Buying them may make no difference"). I'm still unclear.

Thanks as always for your help! 💕
