Hello, everyone--

I am about to travel to an unfamiliar city for 7-8 weeks for business. Because of the demanding schedule and hard work involved during the trip, it would be crucial that I stay at a hotel/residence that best offers comfort and convenience. All of these five hotels seem to be good choices based on their websites and prices reasonable, but I can't decide and am not sure which of these places would work the best for me. So I consulted the Yi for the best outcome: What can I expect from staying at the hotel A, B, C, D or F during my trip to X city?

Hotel A: Hex 61.1 & 5--- Hex 4
Hotel B: Hex 58.5---Hex 54 (obvious NO-NO)
Hotel C: Hex 19, no moving line
Hotel D: Hex 49.6-- Hex 13 (I stayed here once and am not sure if I should return...)
Hotel D: Hex 8.1---Hex 3

My gut tells me to stay at Hotel C, given the above readings, but I am wondering anyone differs? Please help!

Thank you,

Hi,

I would rule out A, B and D.

So there stay C and E (!) (you made a Freudian Slip two times, misnaming E, funny, eh?)

I think both would be good choices, but tend a little bit more to E, especially because of the misnamings, as if your unconcious would lead you to that one...

Greetings,

Soshin

What if the I Ching gave the whole answer with the first toss...?

QUESTION
Which hotel A.,B.,C.,D.,E.?

ANSWER
61. Inner Knowing

61.1 Inner knowing at the gut level, should I trust it?
(Your gut level told you C, but you don't know if you should trust your gut.)

61.5 inner knowing at the heart level:
He possessesses truth, which links together.

Trust your gut.

Having given you your answer
Now the I Ching gets stern...
4. Youthful Folly Has Success
It is not I who ask the young fool.
The young fool asks me.
At the first oracle I inform him.
If he asks two or three questions (or 5!)
Itis importunity,
If he importunes, I give him no information.

Perseverance furthers.

Like, don't ask ME anymore questions, says the oracle. I've given you my answer, further tosses are just you talking to yourself.

-----
So what do you think? Maybe you asked several questions but your answer came in the first toss and the next 4 tosses were not to give you oracle answers, but just assistance in clarifying your own gut intuition, which told you C.

Rosada...

That was my gut feeling when I first saw 61 to 4. But I didn't really want to believe it was a good first impression because I'd want to be able to use the Yi to pick the best hotel for myself as well. The thing is I'v posted an example on the forum where the Yi wouldn't tell me what I wanted to know because I had to find out myself. And examples that I can think of that I haven't posted are when I've offered options for the Yi's comments and their comments were very positive but had nothing to do with the outcome. I had to find out the outcome myself by doing the action that I discussed with the Yi.

Knowing a hotel in advance is only about my creature comforts... not my health, emotional growth or survival. And I suspect the Yi doesn't want to be bothered with such questions.

Love,

Val

Hello- everyone

Thanks very much Soshin for your insight... About the Freudian slip! Very interesting. It's fascinating how unconscious mind works to "alarm" one's thought in process. So go for Hotel E?

Rosanda-- thanks so much for your interesting view. You made me pause to think if I asked the Yi stupid questions. I thought your suggestion - that the Yi is throwing me back to trust my gut - was right on the money for a moment but then I realize that it may not be the case for me... I work way too hard and travel alone for my business for an extend period to this foreign country I don't know too well- this is grueling, exhausting work I pioneer on my own. And, this is not about "trusting my gut", but it's about my health, sanity, safety and accomplishing what I've set out to do within limited time and budget. It means trenmendous to stay at a right place so I can recharge myself for hard work on a daily basis.

I find, based on my limited experience, that the Yi has been more than generous in giving me fact-of-the matter answers. Maybe because, I ask fact-of-the matter questions!

Thanks all,

Truthful22-

I'm glad to know you found my interpretation of interest. And also I'm glad to know that - since it didn't ring true for you - it didn't knock you off your path. I do hope you don't think I was suggesting you were asking "stupid questions". I was saying it appeared to me the I Ching was saying further questions were unnecessary - that your inner feeling was correct.

Have a great trip. Perhaps you'll let us know how your ultimate choice works out.

If I received 61.1,5 - 4 on my first question, I'd interpret it as saying, any place I choose I can make my own (truth which links together). Each question following I'd see as moving farther from the center. Especially if I've already done the homework, looking for the best choices.

Hi, Bruce-- it's really interesting that receiving Hex 61.1,5- 4 on my first reading implies a deeper meaning... I would have never interpret it this way, at least for this instance, so I am glad I posted this inquiry. Very good point -

I've been to this city/contry three times previously, with each trip lasting a few months, and I tried - any place I choose I can make my own (truth which links together) - without much success... I therefore think, the Yi is giving me straight answers this time around, perhaps with the undercurrent message that truth shall link together in spite of inexperience/lack of knowing?

Many thanks for your posting,

Hi Truthful,

For me the tip off would be in the relating gua of 4. Not as any sort of admonishment but as a way of saying I won't know until I venture out and see for myself.

Then if I did proceed with your line of questions and answers, something would look consistent that would perk up my "what's really going on here?" receptors. That's why this appears to me to point back to inner sources of satisfaction.

I'm not saying this is the right interpretation for you. You may be entirely correct in your approach. If I did interpret along your lines, I would still choose Hotel A; but then I trust not knowing and following my inner truth, as best as I can perceive it, that is.

Hotel D looks interesting, too. That (49.6) would say (to me) to radically change the way I'm going about the decision. 13 might suggest becoming one with the natives and getting the scoop from them where the best place to stay would be. In other words, obtaining an insider's perspective. Then it wouldn't matter much which hotel I chose because I could always change (4).

Hope you find your home away from home on this trip (54).
