Good evening,

I threw a few readings about who the next President of the US would be, and this is what I came up with.

Will Trump be our next President: 41.1-4
Will Cruz be our next President: 61.2.6-3
Will Hilary be our next President: 10.1.4.5-4
Will Bernie be our next President: 41.1.3-18

Personally, I feel like it says that Hilary will be.

Hi, for predictive questions like this, perhaps another method of reading the hexagrams is warranted (such as what Sixth Relative does).
It is interesting that the two frontrunners -- Trump and Hilary - -both come out with 4 as the relating hexagram. Not sure what that means...?
For Bernie: 18 as the relating hexagram makes sense, since he is all about rooting out corruption.
Hexagram 41 figures into Bernie and Trump's readings.
As for Cruz, 61.6 is quite ominous.
10.1.4.5 is fairly auspicious for Hilary

I think Trump and Bernie won't make it to the final ( I assume only 2 candidates, one from each party can be in the finals right?), 41.1 → 4 for both of them says losing in the first stage, I mean to 2nd candidate from their own party.

For Bernie 4.3 even says losing to a woman.

10-4 for Clinton, again for the 3rd time there is h4, immature not ready. 10 - going alone.

My pick is Cruz, 61-3, the only one with a complement of 4, the h3. A beginning, a start of a journey.
Not some child's foolish play.
61.2 receives support, has something real to offer the voters, and they respond well.
.6 sounds nasty but when there are many lines now I try to discard them and just look at the hexes.

Hi,

I see Hexagram 4 as a spring of water underneath a mountain, depicting the relationship between youth and elders. The water (eternal youth) gives energy and regeneration, while the mountain provides stability.
I do not see hexagram 4 as about immaturity, unless the changing lines indicate so.

One way to look at it.

Hexagram 10 : the image of the Tiger is that of power so the person who walks without being bitten by the Tiger can be both protected and victorious. Hilary has taken lots of abuse, from enemies, but manages to keep walking.

61.2 -- Cruz is able to woo the hearts of a certain segment of voters, but 61.6 he is trying to mount to heaven unsupported (he is polarizing ).

Rather inconclusive.

I think I'll ask this question with new hexagrams...

Here's what I got:

Will Trump win the election (supposing he is the nominee)

57.5 to 33

Will Hilary win the election (supposing she is the nominee)

8.1.2.5 to 19

inconclusive!

56.5 suggests that Trump may lose the election (the arrow) but gain a great deal of prestige and position in the meantime, -- perhaps an important political appointment?

8.5 suggests that Hilary's political strategy will be successful and will earn her support.

And don't forget the possibility in a year like this of a third party candidate being able to win. I read that 43% of eligible voters in the US are Independents, i.e., neither Republican or Democrat. Those registered Independent cannot vote in states with "closed" primaries like New York. It could be that Bernie would have won in New York if the Independents had been able to vote --- in fact it is quite likely that he would have won. I believe Jill Stein of the Green Party will be on the ballot in November. She would make a good president.

Primary elections usually reflect vocal minorities. More people will vote in November.

Very interesting the new 2 readings are.
19 and opposing 33 :)
Here ok, I admit Trump is retreating, Hillary with 19 is approaching with her army.

I think Killary has already been ear-marked to win with Trump having done his job as "enemy combatant" who will then be offered a consolation prize of some type and considerable prestige as loverofknowledge indicates. An alliance of some strange kind seems on the cards.

I received 9.5>26 for Trump as President which would also point to some kind of alliance. Wikiwing seems appropriate here, stating:

With truth and confidence, hence bound together.
Rich in your neighbour.'

And: "...the idea of bringing order from chaos, like teasing out silk thread from the cocoons. Not just a connection, but a harmonious, tangle-free relationship." This could be taken a number of ways...

But more importantly is the background hexagram is 26, Accumulating power which must also be associated with timing, holding back and being "rich in one's neighbours." I find it particularly note worthy that as a further description in this context we have: "Like the solo entrepreneur who can only expand beyond a certain point through partnership."

If that doesn't describe Trump to a T I don't know what does.

And from Legge: "Line five occupies the central place and because of his sincerity converts lines four and six into helpful neighbors who offer their energy and resources to accomplish a common purpose."

Alliance again.

God help the American people if they get this duo.

I don't think the Yi answered your question... Hilary and Trump both resulting in 4 tells me that it will be the two of them battling it out, Hilary getting there just narrowly through tough competition from Sanders, Trump slagging in the polls. I think it just said that it will be down to the two of them, going by the reading.

I think the readings indicate that Bernie Sanders will be president. I am translating 41.1.3 > 18 as "Offering's Remedier/B]" From the Oracle on Hex 42 in Wikiwing: "From the source, good fortune.
Not a mistake, this can endure. " And I like loverofknowledge's use of the trigram imagery. Hexagram 41 is mountain over the lake. I think Sanders is the "mountain", i.e., he is not going to back down. And the "lake" underneath him is th swelling of support from his supporters.

Hillary and Trump both have 4 as the relating figure. The don't know what they are up against. The American people are ready for a change and have had quite enough of their foolish folly, Thank you.

(I suggest that when we are referring to the U.S Presidential race we use the name "Mrs. Clinton" on this website out of respect for the website owner who just by chance has the same first name.)

I thought this possibly as well 41 is where he is now an outsider to win, line 1 i think kind of compliments who he is and line 3 is peculiar stating when there are 3 one must go then saying the man finds a companion. Hex 18 i think is what this election is all about fixing the decay. Thats what they all seem to be saying they want to do. He is the only one in the reading with this hexagram. If he does win thats exactly what he needs to do, Wasnt Obama is a similar position when he won? He was the outsider?
I will do my own reading of course, i was thinking of just asking who will become president and try and work it out.

At the start of the primary season,Sanders was similar to Obama in being unknown, while gathering popularity . By this point in the season, Obama was on his way to victory, while Sanders has very little chance now. So no, Sanders and Obama are no longer in similar or comparable situations.

First of all, I want to say I appreciate all of the attention that this thread's been given, and that all of your answers have been insightful.

I want to draw attention to the 61.2.6 reading: Did you hear that Cruz/Kasich are now aligning forces (I will share wine) to try to block Trump from getting the nomination? I think 61.2 may have been referring to this, but that the 61.6 is saying that it won't last (they won't be successful).

Yes, I did notice the Cruz/Kasich alliance. It is late in the game for success (in my opinion), -- though whatever erodes Trump's advantage is fine by me!

It wasn't until June 3rd of 2008 that Obama won enough delegates. See Wikipedia: "On June 3, 2008, after the Montana and South Dakota primaries, Barack Obama secured enough delegates to clinch the nomination of the Democratic party for President of the United States.[4] "

It is still possible for Bernie to win enough delegates to run on the Democratic ticket. If that doesn't happen he could still win the election as an Independent candidate. In many states with closed primaries people who are registered as Independents cannot vote in the primary and so there are likely more supporters of Sanders than are evident so far.

2383 delegates are needed to win the democratic nomination. So far Sanders has 1321 delegates.
But there are 4765 delegates available and so he still has a chance. (see http://www.bing.com/search?q=democratic+primary+elections&form=APMCS1)

I suspect Sanders will win in some of the upcoming state's primaries where Mrs. Clinton is erroneously predicted to be the winner.

I just asked, Will Sanders become president? and cast 8.4.5.6 < 35

Looks good to me, with some uncertainty indicated by the sixth changing line. It depends on what happens and if the crowds supporting him keep up their enthusiasm and momentum.

And here is an up to date account of what happened in the April 26th primary elections:

TONIGHT'S DELEGATE COUNT:
Delaware: 12 for Hillary, 9 for Bernie;
Connecticut: 26 for Hillary, 24 for Bernie;
Rhode Island: 13 for Bernie, 11 for Hillary;
Maryland: 50 for Hillary, 20 for Bernie;
Pennsylvania: 91 for Hillary, 48 for Bernie.
SUBTOTAL: 192 for Hillary, 101 for Bernie;
Adjusted Net Total: +91 for Hillary;
Adjusted Total: 1,618 for Hillary, 1,267 for Bernie (add Bernie's 30 Washington state delegates)
Difference of 351 delegates.
More states to come in the West, where Bernie will win...California alone is 546 FIVE HUNDRED AND FORTY-SIX DELEGATES.

(I can't bare to look closely at what is happening on the Republican side. Trump is so far ahead it seems at a quick glance. I think Sanders has a better chance of winning against Trump than Mrs. Clinton for a number of reasons, one of them being that Trump has a lot of negative ammunition and adds to launch against Mrs. Clinton and it is difficult to come up with the same kind of negative material against Sanders.)

From a Wen Wang Gua perspective, seems like he won't.

a) The line representing him is Mao (wood), with relative Official attached. That implies that he is a real stateman.
b) Active line 4 is Shen (metal) and the effect after change is You (metal). Metal destroys Wood. Since You comes after Shen in the earthly branch order, this is an Advance movement, meaning the original effect will get stronger. Therefore, here we can see Sanders under heavy attack.
c) Active line 5 is Chen (earth) with Sibblings relative attached; it represents Sanders' competitors. The effect after change is Wei (earth) Since Wei comes before Chen in the earthly branch order, this is a Retreat movement, meaning the original effect wll become weaker. Then, we can see Sanders' competitors not doing well either.
d) Active line 6 is Zi (water). Water produces Wood, so this line represents Sanders' supporters. The effect after change is Si (fire). Fire destroys Metal, so it will help Sanders by controling his attackers.

So, this seems very close, with both attackers and supporters.

But... in electoral issues, there is a difference between getting more votes, winning the election and to take office. You asked about his chance to take office (become President). The ceremony for the next president to take office will be held on January 20th, 2017. That will be a Chou (earth) month and a Wei (earth) day. Wood is prisoner on Earth month and day. He won't be able to take office.

Then, I'd say that regardless the ups and downs in his pursuit of the presidency, he won't take office as the next President of the USA.

This is such an unusual election year I am thinking it is perhaps a year in which a third party candidate had a chance. It would be great to have a "first" . And so I asked, "How can Jill Stein become our next president and received 14.1.4 > 18.

Any ideas on this casting?

How can Jill Stein become our next president?

14.1.4 > 18

Looks like she's a decent individual, which unfortunately means she has no place in the current electoral system which favours people who thrive on the opposite.

14 Great Possession

Line 1: She has genuine intent, inner assets and doing what she believes to be the right thing. Therefore, her task is to not play the same game that such a system would wish. That means rising above the negative dynamics and being true to herself. If she does this - for her own path at least - this will enrich her inner process and be an example to others.

Line 4: Reiterates the idea of not playing the game and emulating others who are not cut from the same cloth. No wish to make a splash. Just doing what is right in the face of powerful opposition. There are some things that make a difference where it counts but aren't necessarily of this world.

The background hexagram of 18 may refer to the inherent corruption that characterises politics and how she must strive to keep the negative influences out and also the idea that "working on what has been spoiled" is a dual process i.e. she learns a lot about herself and inspires others to do the same perhaps?

There is no way that Stein (or Bernie Sanders for that matter) can become president but she can be an example at least. I think this is important since there are very few role models in politics now.

Carly Fiorina is 61 years old.... just an odd co-incidence with the 61 casting for Cruz I suppose.

I guess I feel uncomfortable with readings for predictions. It implies a belief in a "predestination" of sorts. I prefer readings looking for "right action". Sanders supporters are not of the opinion that there is no way for him to become president. Many people are spending hours volunteering and doing phone banking and exposing the corruption that is trying to control the outcome.

Well, Cruz has officially dropped out of the Presidential Race.. So I suppose line 6 of 61 has now played out.
Bernie Sanders has 1,453 delegates and Hilary Clinton has 2,228: you only need 2,383 to be nominated.

What do I need to know about Bernie and this Presidential Election: 33 unchanging
Is Trump going to be the next President: 55.1-62
Will Hilary be our next President: 31.3.4-8

Based on this, I think that Bernie will NOT win, Trump will have some "time in the sun" before losing, and Hilary will eventually win.

jumpingmouse,

I want to say that I do agree with you, I think many of us like to use the iChing to make predictions, but it seems to speak more in the present term, and the outcomes are not 100% predetermined.

I think some of it depends on the energy that is being "read" at the moment of the casting, and if that never changes, then a feasible outcome for that situation may be the reading you receive. However, things change all the time, so there aren't any guarantees.

That's just a theory.
