I simply asked what is my responsibility here and now. The question may be too vague, but I'm just looking for overall direction. I could ask many questions about "smaller things", but I've come to realize that all answers will be revealed if I simply go in the right direction. I seem to be a magnet for financial struggle, but I wanted to ask a question that was bigger picture. Any advice about the reading would be most appreciated.
thanks

You might want to include the I Ching reading itself - bit tricky without it. :)

What is my responsibility here and now?

26.6>11

H.26 is about taming or controlling great creative power, sublimation of energy and using it correctly in one's life. You might say it's about strengthening our best traits and working on ourselves. I find this is to be quite a profound hexagram in that is shows us the enormous potential that we have within us, with each line offering a key to unlocking it.

Inherent within the overall Hexagram is patience, economy of energy, waiting, timing, discernment, discrimination, trust and even faith. Inevitably wrapped up with all these qualities is the idea of will power which we need to make any kind of progress. Once we've honed that ability then many more creative choices open up to us based on the expansion of awareness, which must take place incrementally.

I think you are absolutely right when you wrote: "I've come to realize that all answers will be revealed if I simply go in the right direction." This is especially true in a 26 context since it's about the accumulation of energy across the board. When you begin to get in touch with the real you, the root, the essence if you will, then inner blocks and their outer obstacles are seen for what they are: ways to wake you up to why things are not working.

You might be travelling through the various stages of 26 to get to 26.6. (26.2 is about stopping so something can be repaired for instance). However, taking 26.6 directly as having reached that point, let's say your responsibility in the present is to take advantage of the gift that appears to be available to you, and that is to recognise and apply the creative potential. It suggests that you will succeed in doing whatever it is you wish to do, provided you maintain your integrity and principles, and listen to the real you rather than what others say.

The background Hex of 11 is "Peace." It doesn't always mean that however. But the faith, trust and presence is there for you to surf that creative wave that can take you where you'd like to go. it may not be plain surfing all the way but you can trust yourself and do it.

A very encouraging Hexagram and line placement!

Thanks for the insight!!! To quote A Course in Miracles I've been experiencing what it means "to do nothing except not interfere." It feels as if there is something enormous within that is seeking expression, but instead of doing anything to bring it out my focus is gradually moving towards staying out of the way. The thought of my responsibility being to simply recognize and apply the creative potential as best I can is a fantastic insight. My biggest issue is having a set goal to apply it to. That could be the next question I ask.
Thanks topal for your response

I think Nigel Richmond's commentary fits here just as perfectly.

Line 6 goes yin - our inner being accepts more.
This line is our contact with the greater reality that surrounds us, our personal part in it, so this present involvement of our inner being with the greater undistinguished reality is a culmination of the tao.

The Chinese image:
He arrives at the way of heaven.

This is an acceptance of the great tao, it does not invest identity with some power or other but we open to the inner silence (of the lower half of the hexagram, Ch'ien). In experience this may involve a deep discovery which brings us into deep peace with ourselves, or it may be that we simply feel more in tune.

As MKJ wrote: stay out of the way, listen to that - something enormous within, and realize that there are no real obstacles.
Hex 11 is also called 'Prospering', it's not only a peaceful break.

Are you sure you want to ask the question Why?
Do you think God has a purpose in His plan for you?
You might, but the Heaven mentioned in 26.6 is not that kind of Western Heaven.
I would come at it differently and ask "What am I good for?"

I'm pretty sure that humans are the only species to ask this question. And maybe the reason you are here is to ask the question, why am I here? And, maybe you/we are here to create a reason for being here.

The standard western theological answer is, to keep our creator company. The standard eastern philosophical answer is to recognize our creator within us. But these present more questions, and perhaps questioning is our greatest asset, or perhaps our greatest vanity. The fact seems to be that we are here, and that's all we really know.

Whenever I get 26, the feeling is of constraint and "taming." But line 26.6 is the release of that. This could be in a small way, as in just getting up and going out of the house. Or it could pertain to larger issues, walking on Heaven's highway taken as a metaphor.

Hello friend:
To be honest, according to your prediction result, I cannot believe that you are "a magnet for financial struggle", because the result is so encouraging!
The Hex name of Hex 26 is "A Great Deal of Resources"(according to the translation in my book), and Hex 26.6 says "A man is standing at intersections opening on all sides. Everything will be prosperous."
The Hex name of Hex 11 is "Prosperity", and the hex code says "The gain outweighs the loss. You will have good luck and everything will be prosperous."
So I think I Ching suggests that you have many friends and experiences(a great deal fo resources), you are going to have a better development in your life. Good luck to you.

Your question seems to be emerge not from your mind, but it feels like a soul crying out. And when such questions come out from there , imo, is not futile at all. Sometimes it's the beginning of a journey, like ascending the mountain.

26.6 visual is clear- someone ascending but it feels like, descending into the core of the mountain, where the gold is hidden and waits to be found. ...traversing the Why path...There is that powerful contradiction, that resembles the paintings of esher, and especially those two that popped into my mind after reading your first post.

This one express better the 26 and 26.6 contradiction
Esher-4.jpg

And that one reminds me of hex 11

esher.jpg

For many decades there was a big "Why?" that was expecting an answer for making sense, an answer that would give the coordinates, the longitude and latitude will help me to find my spot. It feels very hex 12 but those why's it's what gives a push to earth and heaven; they start moving, and in their intersection , there is that spot.

Tired from asking, fed up by getting no response, I made up the answers for the "Why I am here", for the "What am I" , and for "Where is here ?". It's that simultaneous ascending and descending, of 26 and 11

I simply asked what is my responsibility here and now.

I am drawn to your question as well, and I love the answer, but it really can be approached from many places, depending on one's worldview. The way I see life, as life experiencing itself through us, this fits perfectly. It's rather tautological, you are here because you are here in order to be able to be here. You come with great possibilities (26) and for me line 6 was always about surrender. Give it away to a greater purpose, the financial struggle is a part of it, the good and bad moments are all a part of the way.

26 could also be depicting you existential wonderings: Great Concerns. Even in this case I would read it the same way: give this answer to a higher purpose.

11, relate, interplay, enjoy, harmonize the opposites.

Peace :)

.... and Kerson & Rosemary Huang got it simply: "Heaven helps those who helps themselves"

Link: https://www.scribd.com/doc/117919576/Kerson-Rosemary-Huang-I-Ching

I almost posted these exact words, but then I thought of a troubled dear one who is confusing her worth as a person with what she does, resulting in becoming a workaholic supervisor, which she has nightmares about and repeatedly affirms, "this job is killing me."

I believe most of what we do isn't nearly as important as we like to image it is. And if that is all that defines us and our so-called reason for being here (as though we need a reason), then we reduce our value to the level of a commodity. Who we are is more important than what we do. A despot may rule over millions, while a sage may rule over only their self. 26.6-11 indeed.

I should have titled this thread with the question that I posed to the oracle. Not really sure why I titled this thread Why am I here. Although after some contemplation I believe that the answer to the question what is my responsibility here and now gives insight into why am I here. In response to Bradford's post, I believe that God has a purpose for each of us. The question then is which I, the Creator's I that you are, or the self concept I that each of us has made. The Creator's I is good for all that is. The self made I tends to hold on to a sense of inadequacy and/or unworthiness since it thinks that it is all that is. It seems as if the self made I goes through lifetimes of "evolution" which I believe is nothing more than the gradual acceptance of what is. In my earlier post I mentioned getting out of the way. Maybe that means recognizing and applying the creative potential to my plans as the Creator sees it. Who knows. In response to Ginnie and Xuesongyu I think that there are multiple directions open, but I have to take the first step. Thanks to everyone for your posts. I hope this thread helps others as much as it has helped me.

FWIW I have heard of 26.6 in connection with the highway in the book 'Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy'. I've not read it so I go by hearsay but I understand there is a great highway being built in the story that will obliterate the home of ???. The thoughts circling around this connection were that one cannot control Heaven's Highway.....you are on it, you go with it...there is no where else to go and also somehow in that talk I recall how it connected with the idea of karma. So if your question was 'what am I doing here' 26.6 is so great.....well where the heck else could you be but here ? Life lives through you and your responsibility is to be that automobile on that highway....the highway is bigger than you...I mean there is huge motion in 26.6....all that stored energy,( karma ?) rolls forward inexorably, you are carried along. I speak of karma loosely as the forces that continue to play out that you might have set in motion..or been set in motion through you, that roll on.. There are things in life beyond what we control or do...our family, where we are born...all these forces compelling us along heaven's highway, our destiny, mean we meet what we meet inevitably having been born into a world of motion...we move and will die and so on. Even if you do nothing at all you're not stationary as forces from the past move you along anyway.

I like the answer and generally don't think you should worry too much. You are on the road and can't get off...you are on your way regardless......I'd like some animation as illustration but can't think of any.
