Why am I not getting interviews? 50.6 > 32

Hi all,

I've been fruitlessly looking for a good job for a long time, one that's right for me and a good fit with my skills and experience. I've put a lot of effort into cover letters, resumes, my website, and work samples and references. Yet in every case I don't even get to the interview stage. I asked the I Ching why I'm not getting interviews and received 50.6 changing to 32.

I'm trying not to blame it all on age, but I am 56 years old and can't help but think that this has a lot to do with it. Is the I Ching confirming this? Or telling me to just not give up and keep going as I am?

50.6 indicates that there will be great good fortune and that everything will improve. Yi does not seem to be exactly answering the question of why you are not getting interviews right now. It does seem to be saying to keep going as you are, as you said in your post. Maybe you are not getting interviews due to the slow down in the economy or a slump in your particular field.

At first i thought "Wow, the answer is so positive. 50.6 is the double fortune, and 32 says don't change direction".

Then i tried Huang's book:
The cauldron has two purposes, for nourishing the body(food) and for nourishing spirit(ritual sacrifice).
Then line 6 speaks of jade: It is prized for its hardness (Yang) and soft lustrousness (Yin).

There is a theme of some duality/balance going on.

Hex 32 Steadfastness:
Steadfastness is a subtle art. We are apt to make the mistake of holding on to the wrong thing or the wrong person for too long, and then, upon realizing this, over-correcting the problem.

One who holds steadfastness in proper balance will have no troubles and will go places.

I think Yi is leapfrogging your question as Ginnie said. You asked 'why am I not getting interviews ?' Yi is kind of saying 'don't worry about it, you have a handle on things' Why it's telling you not to worry I don't know but it is. Hex 50, the cauldron is about transforming the raw to the cooked, alchemy. You have to get the right ingredients to make a good cake. Perhaps up till now things weren't quite cooked....well they seem about ready now or will be soon. Also perhaps the situation isn't quite as you imagine.

All you can do with answers like this is take it as an inner smile I think

Thank you all for these comments -- ashteroid, I saw some references to the jade handles being good for moving the vessel, and you mention going places as well; relocating is definitely on my mind, but I don't know where. Also everything in my life right now seems to be asking me to address the idea of alignment: aligning words and deeds, aligning purpose and temperament, aligning structurally (neck, shoulders, arms, posture). Your reference to balance fits with that. (Saturn is transiting my 6th house and demanding alignmnent!).

But I appreciate the idea of relaxing a little; I'm not in financial crisis at the moment, so I will try to see this as an auspicious suggestion to nourish the body and the spirit and respect the containers, or containments, that are acting in my life.
