Why does the I Ching keep telling me not to move? [18.1>26]

I asked if there was an appropriate path for me to take in regards to my individuation, and got unchanging, Hexagram 42. I asked what it thought of me moving away from home, and got Hexagram 52. I'm very concerned with moving away from home because my home life is not very good. It's unhealthy, and draining. I haven't faced it totally, I think, because I stay in my head a lot. It's the sort of awareness where you would like to put it to the side by not looking at it full on. That may be why. I feel attached to being home, because I know I need to face the circumstances as they are, and I haven't. Sometimes, I do, but I'm inconsistent, because I really just want things to happen, but I know they can't until I'm honest about how things are. But then I said I'd stay home until further notice, and I got Hexagram 52 again.

So I asked why the I Ching kept telling me to stay home, if nothing really furthers. Even staying home is more staying home. And I got Hexagram 18.1>26. I cast about the appropriate attitude towards life for me, and it gave me Hexagram 1. But it just told me to keep still and that I ought to focus on repairs. Is that creative energy for the repairs? But repairs aren't all of life. I then asked what the appropriate attitude toward my family was and I got 63.3.6>42.

I know I cast a lot. I allowed frustration to get the best of me. Feel free to pick and choose a hex to respond to.

Oh these seem clear answers to me.

52uc You need to stay just where you are and don't imagine you need to be anywhere else right now. Don't project into the future or dwell on the past, just quiten yourself....and if there is turmoil going down, ignore it.


18.1 Why does Yi say stay ? Because whether you are aware of it or not this is yours to deal with. Whatever is happening at home actually is your business, your respsonsibilty. It may not appear on the outside to be your responsibility...but in some way it is. I have known this line come up for things I've dealt with, in an emotional or spiritual sense, from my dead father.

So this can literally be to do with family karma...or however you prefer to think of it. If you perform what you need to perform it is as if you take on the burden and you resolve it,,,,,It is, in some sense your duty.

So, so far this is clear . You need to stay where you are because you have work to do in that situation...possibly your very presence there is a way of taking responsibility for corruption that happened in the past. You need to deal with whatever is going on at home...Maybe not directly because you have 52....but it certainly isn't the right thing now to leave. You are needed.


Other casts confirm to me there is more happening here than you imagine. Hex 1 uc for example can show there is destiny in this...and I already used the word karma...I use these words because with 18 one cannot see the cause, the deep causes of problems, but your casts show there is some kind of energy flow in the situation that is keeping you there.

Well don't imagine you have gotten as far as you can go. In 63.6 one imagines the river is crossed, it's all done...yet you aren't even half way there. There is so much more to unfold in this situation.

Very often in 63.6 a person really believes they are off to a brand new life and leaving the past behind.....but actually they really aren't. They look behind them as if the story were complete now but it isn't. There's more to come from the current situation.

63.3 confirms there are long standing issues here to deal with 'demon country'......

You had 42uc and 42 as relating....so there are blessings here somewhere....


To summarise. You need to stay where you are because there are still things to be worked out in that situation and also you can redeem in some way past corruption/faults/troubles of your family.

To do this however, to stay there, it doesn't seem to be a question of confronting or head on dealing with things. 52 suggests you stay put but very much stay in your own world, almost ignoring them, at least maintaining your own inner peace. Perhaps you need more quiet time in order to make staying feasible ?

So you deal with things, deal with the corruption by staying exactly where you are.
