Something (possibly the paucity of ticket sales, possibly Yi giving me 48 line 3 when I asked about it) tells me that I've given the wrong impression about this webinar.

So... here is a last minute attempt to say why I think understanding Yi's relationship imagery matters. First, of course we already have cartloads of 'equipment' for this. Yin=female, yang=male; women deserve chivalrous consideration as the weaker sex; powerful women are the 'dark element' - and so on. And although parts of it grate on my nerves, this toolkit has been very useful to a lot of people.

But - in the first place, in 2000BC, it wasn't there. Not the idea that lines are yin and yang. Not even the idea that yin corresponds to female. So if you try to look at the original without these layers... how do the relationship dynamics work in the original text? The marriages, the wife's constancy, the strong woman... Maybe we can get to the roots of some of that traditional toolkit, see where it evolved from.

And, as I was saying, why does this matter?

Because the more we understand the workings of the oracle in its own terms, the more it makes intuitive sense. That makes for more confident readings - often for much simpler ones, too.

Also because this is not just about relationships. I know this is breathtakingly obvious, but Yi uses relationship imagery to talk about every kind of 'relationship' imaginable. You and your deeper self, you and your job or your boss, you and your new house, your message and the person you're trying to convey it to, good grief, even software compatibility! (Anyone want to continue the list?)

So... not just about relationship readings. Not just about women. Not just about obscure academic burrowings. And not a few seats left - please come!
