Hello, Could you please help me with interpreting this reading. Some background: - My current project has been a roller coaster ride, and has been very challenging/demanding and tough with not so many successes :-( and we are actually in the midst of a bit of a crisis (will be doing a separate reading for this soon I guess ) - I have recently been assigned larger responsibilities in my current area - though it is still not official and there is some doubt there, due to the current dynamics..although i have started contributing it in a small way - In parallel, an opportunity has arisen in the same organization to contribute to a new domain (technically and managerially) - it is a new and difficult domain, but if I can do well, promises good career prospects. I actually requested to contribute to it.Seems I am taking on more than I may be able to handle, but still...so I asked, while competency/knowledge is one thing, do I have the capability to master this area/domain (in point 3) and received 6.2.4.6 -> 8I am not sure which way to interpret it, if 8 is the context (then yes I am seeking union with this domain), but there would be too much conflict (maybe with other assignments), the domain is really really hard (which it is) and I cannot master it. I might as well return and save 300 households (my main line of work currently - other projects) - if I persist and work very hard, I may have small wins but not which would be real accomplishments to the success of the project or which would count - so basically I should not do it.Or is it the other way round, it is very very hard, and I am conflicted (6), big part of my instinct right now is to run away from it (6.2.4), but if I persist and work hard, through small wins/accomplishments (.6), I might actually be able to do well in this domain (8).Thank you..

No you don't. It's a pretty clear answer. This is far too much for you and any gains can be easily lost.

Have to notice the change patterns here 64 and 63. Not sure how to apply them just noticing them.


All these lines are crying out for you to back off from this. In line 2 it's not just backing off because you don't want to do it it's backing off to save yourself and possibly others from trouble/suffering/loss. This line urges you to seek support in places that are familiar to you and I have often found it quite a predictive line. That is I couldn't see quite at the time why I should retreat from something and then something happens and I look back and see how unfortunate it would have been if I had. So don't forget you can't bank on what the future is going to throw at you and this really isn't something you can take on and you will likely see why in the future.


Line 4, well it's self explanatory really isn't it...and not forgetting all the lines are part of 6 where one is trying to win an unwinnable argument on some level so this whole idea is at odds with what is even possible for you.


Hexagram 8 as relating ? I'd think this is to do with you being clear about where you belong and where you don't. At the moment you are internally arguing with where you and your energies belong. For sure they really don't belong with this assignment .

Thanks Trojina, there are two reasons actually, one is I acted before thinking (or asking the Iching), the opportunity came and I asked to sign up for it. The second is it is definitely a domain with great potential career wise and I have been wanting to get a chance to get some good experience here as that would open up better opportunities in my career with good prospects financially which I really need at this point in my life. The work I am currently doing is quite hectic and I don't get much personal time - which is fine as of now, and I am currently doing well, but in another 2 years or so there maybe stagnation - basically not a lot of growth potential and stability - although yes what will happen in 2 years is too much to think right now and currently I am not so sure if I am really cut out for it..but seems the reading suggests I am where I belong, and in familiar territory..Also, your interpretation and the reading is totally bang on, every line describes the situation correctly (it does give you that amazing feeling of wow).So, for now I am trying to get myself off this or try to reduce my involvement to some degree (maybe not pursue this technically just from mgmt perspective or until someone comes in)..One thought that occurred to me right now is that maybe I asked a question that aimed to high - as in capability to "master" the area, should I ask a more grounded question maybe.. Although I think the reading is very much accurate in describing the current state of things..Thanks again, will update if there is a change..

I know this is an old thread but the query and circumstances sound similar to mine. 6.2.4.6 to 8 was the outcome and Trojina’s response sounds fitting for my current situation as well.
