Hexagram 16
changing at 4
Hexagram 2

I see this as Enthusiasm, but I feel that after 3 years, my department is shifting and we are going to be placed in different areas.

we all had a meeting last week. I am thinking of going to another company outside the bank, but my manager said that they will place me in another department.

our department is closing down, not enough work.

I cast this Hexagram and hope someone can clarify this.

all this will happen at the end of October, I want to stay and look for another job while I have one.
does anyone see me not having a job?

thank you

It sounds like the title of your post is your literal question, and in that case, you're actually asking about two separate things in one question. The I Ching has trouble providing clear answers to questions like that; it is impossible to know what the answer refers to.

Having said that, this is a quite favorable reading. There was another thread posted just yesterday with the very same 16.4>2 reading, here. It's a different situation, but it still might be helpful for you to take a look at it.

It might also help to ask separately about each possibility, something like, "What would it be like for me if I stayed with my bank, in this different department?" and "What would it be like for me to look for a job with another company?"

It is very nice, though, that you have these options, are not being laid off altogether, and can take your time to carefully mull the pros and cons of doing different things. Whew!

will I loose my job altogether?

the management has said that we can all post to other positions and asked us which ones we would choose. they have several.
if not, we will be placed back on the phones.

I just need the job so I can find something else in the meantime.

To be clear, I do NOT see you not having a job, not at all :). You said in the first post that the bank said they'll transfer you to a different department. I think the reading means that you can count on them to keep that promise. ("Doubt not. You gather friends around you / As a hair clasp gathers the hair.")

I think it might even mean that you'll find support whichever option you decide on (stay with bank vs. go elsewhere). I know I said it's hard to tell which part of the question it's addressing, but of course it could address both at once if the real answer is that you'll be fine either way :).

Should I rephrase the question and do another Hexagram?

I don't know if this matters, as Long Yi has given me a different approach and answer
thank you so much for all who chimed in.

The Hexagarms are confusing, when I look up what they mean, I don't really understand.

thank you so much for your clarification

My personal opinion is that at some point you might want to do more readings on all this, but there's probably no big rush.

There's no ironclad guarantee, of course, but I think 16.4>2 probably does mean that you'll be okay whatever you do, whether you stay at the bank in a different department or leave the bank for a different job.

But staying or leaving is still a decision you'll have to make, and the I Ching can help you make it, if necessary.

You could ask, "What if I stay at the bank, in this new department?" And a separate question, "What if I look for a new job outside the bank?"

Those questions could also be phrased, "What would it be like for me if I...?" or some different variation - whatever wording you prefer.

Just be careful not to ask any more "This, or that?" questions ;). I think you were lucky this time, and got an answer that covered both options. But usually it makes a big mess to ask questions like that, because you don't know which option the answer is referring to.

noted and thank you for your reading interpretation. I really appreciate all this.
I have been looking for a new job, so far, I am still here, but I don't want to be out of a job
